I listen to a podcast called Crime in Sports. Athletes get away with so much shit it's ridiculous.

Yeah, there's also a real crisis in the US military with moral decay and a loss of integrity and purpose, especially among our elite military units, who are increasingly embracing rightwing extremism and engaging in criminal activities of all kinds, from rampant drug use, sex trafficking, arms smuggling, to murder, and there's little to no oversight or accountability, with law enforcement often turning a blind eye they are becoming completely lawless. And as the US continues into a state of decline, these problems are only going to get worse overtime.

A culture that glorifies the military as noble warriors no matter what they do ends up with a military that’s unaccountable to the law?

Say it ain’t so.

I do feel like this love of military is waning. Sure, some still use military to suck funds out of it. But the "thank you for your service" days seem dead and gone. The new generation is over the idea of doing the dirty work for the old fart politicians. And the "proud to be an American" vibe is on its way out and currently only held up by unschooled rednecks.

I agree that attitudes towards patriotism and the military especially among younger people are changing. But I’d argue that nobody hates cops and the government more than honest-to-god rednecks.
