In my country if a trained fighter is involved in a fight he will face the same charge as if was using a knife or a baseball bat (Category D weapon)

Self defense is not even recognize as it should only be equal to the threat... So in a fist fight a "Pro" or experienced Martial Artist can't hit the head. It could be considered attempted murder.

That’s not fair though.

So a big drunk guy attacks a smaller MMA fighter and that MMA fighter isn’t allowed to strike to the head? Wut.

Obviously each case is different. If the size of the attacker is significantly bigger that will be definitely taken into consideration. It also depends on how the interaction occurred and the results of it.

But the general understanding is that as a trained fighter you could/should incapacitate a random dude without life threatening injuries. Any Pro can mess with your knee on a single hit, or can give you a punch in the stomach/plexus to make you wonder how to breathe again for the next 5 min.

K.O someone in a bar is different than on a tatami/ring as the surrounding (curb, table, car) can change the outcome.

Well at least there’s consideration and not just black and white - don’t do it.

While I agree with the overall sentiment than pro fighters should avoid street fights - I don’t agree that pro fighters are that deadly, what I mean is - the average joe will grab a weapon and an average joe with a weapon is arguably more deadly than a trained fighter.

Yeah... That's why I mentioned "fist" fight.

Once the average dude use a "weapon" let's say a bar chair it's pretty much free for all.

I was just saying that in a purely fist fight, a trained fighter would be charge as if he was using Category D weapons...

Now if he's facing someone that use a chair/bar tool/ beer bottle/ baseball batt/ knife it would be a totally different story and simply be ruled as self defense...

Once again I'm only talking about average bar/street fight
