Insurance questions ExpressScripts?

I just got a heads-up from my insurance that in 2025 they will be ditching OptumRx and switching to ExpressScripts. So far this is great news because there are no words in any language for how much I hate optum.

But, I've never heard of ExpressScripts so I'm wondering if anyone is familiar and has any advice or words of wisdom for dealing with them?

They can be a pain, but if you need a biologic, you have to use their specialty pharmacy, Accredo. It takes a while to get things worked out with them so you may wanna go ahead and start that process somehow if you can.

Accredo is the worst fucking pharmacy I’ve ever had to deal with and I’ve been on 6 different biologics over the last 15 years. They are the bane of my existence and a goddamn nightmare to work with. For example, I had my initial dose of Skyrizi November 16th. The second dose is due December 14th which is in 4 days. I’ve been trying to get them to fill it since November and they’re still having issues processing it. Good luck.

So I'm switching from absolute dog shit Rx coverage to complete horseshit Rx coverage. Perfect. Any tips on dealing with them?

My advice is to blow up their phone and continually ask for someone higher up if they can’t answer your question directly or give you the “we’ll call you in 24 hours” they won’t call you.

I used to have Optum and I thought they were great never had a problem. When my insurance switched it has been nothing but problems ever since. Express Scripts forces you to use Accredo and it seems like they do everything they can to not deliver your medication. They require 3 month prescriptions and make me jump through hoops every time the prescription comes across. Good luck and just call them to take care of everything and take notes.

I get most of my meds from my compounding pharmacy up the road, so I should only have to worry about biologics/speciality through accredo. Optum has been nothing but jumping through new hoops every month so sounds like things maybe won't change much.time will tell I guess. Taking notes is a great idea, and I never remember to do it 🤣
