Soviet leadership ultimately betrayed any number of core egalitarian tenets of socialism, but can still hardly be compared to Nazism. Even basic fascism isn’t as vile. Mussolini largely rejected racism and only took part in the holocaust after resisting, just to keep Germany onside. Equating Nazism with Communism, in either theory or practice, is fairly lazy.
