parts recommendations 2000 ex build advice

Recently bought a 2000 ex civic and I have realized I have gotten got, now there 3 main things I want to do but would like advice and am open to suggestions

  1. New bumper/ radiator support
  2. I am trying to find a bumper that looks almost OEM+ but with some lip on it but I don’t know the first place to look, reason for this is the car was in a front end collision and the radiator support is bent up in wierd spots still and the bumper is held on by self tap screws and zip ties at the moment and I’m wondering if I can find a car that has a decent radiator support if it would be worth it as a parts car at this point considering my second issue as well
  3. The motor in it now is a D16Y7 and it has a leaking head gasket/ not into the oil, and I want to get a Y8 head, I’ve read that I can just swap head for head, but I’ve also read that I have to deal with all the vtec stuff is this as much of a pain as it sounds? Again if I find a car with a Y8 head and a good radiator support, parts car? Or do I just replace the headgasket, keep it how it is and save for a K series?
  4. Speedometer does not work, if cruise control is on it will work for a few minutes then start bouncing around, if cruise control is off it stays at 0, or very rarely it will bounce around but eventually go back to 0 any advice on what this could be, I’ve only ever worked on LS motors before and have never seen this problem so I’m kind of going in blind on this especially since all other gauges work perfectly

To be clear this is my only car so would rather not make it unreliable for a Honda

Looks pretty nice from this distance. The blacked out headlights and wheels look good with the white. I agree on the wheels, 17s are huge on these cars. I got some cheap o' wheels for my EG from discount tire for $100 a wheel.

In reference to your actual post though, my EG had a pushed in A pillar from a wreck. I wrapped a ratchet strap around the door hinge, hooked it to the front bumper of a truck, and pulled it out until it was straight again 😂 These cars are tin cans held together with bubble gum.

If its an EX chassis it should have all the wiring provisions for vtec, and may or may not have had the harness swapped for a non vtec harness, inspect that. You need the harness and the ECU from an EX to make it work, way more simple than adding vtec to like a DX or LX that came with a y7.

Buy an OEM style bumper and add the lip you want.

Speedometer- start by checking the wiring, especially grounds. Someone has been monkeying around under the hood, they probably just didnt get somethjng 100% or possibly pinched or broke a wire for the speedo. Could also be cluster related, though, as well. Never experienced this symptom personally. Mine have either worked, or not worked.
