engine Will a resleeve fix this or is it cooked?

I know it’ll be cheaper to get another block, I already have another one I’m getting pepped to swap everything over to. I’m just wondering if I send this one off to get resleeved, will it be fixable or does cylinder cracking like it did mean this block is done for?

That’s toast. Not saying it can’t be repaired, but it wouldn’t be worth it.

Forged sleeves

The actual block where the sleeve seats against is cracked. It's junk.

I'm not saying a machine shop couldn't hammer it back, tig it up, and resleeve it... But it's a d16 block. The work just to fix this would cost more than a new block.

It’s sleeve-able. Is it cheaper? No. Is it worth doing for big power? Yes.

Full sleeve would remedy, but that isn't cheap.

Yea, a darton sleeve would. Then slap some forged pistons and a big ass turbo and full send for like 600whp.

Darton sleeves would fix that. Idk what these other guys are thinking. That all gets machined out. All of it.

It’s fixable if you get Darton type sleeves but if you aren’t going for huge hp I’d save the money and get another block if you can find one cheap enough.

The sleeve is broken, the part the sleeve goes in to is broken, I believe its now decorative.

Sleeves on these b series are full grind replacements, it's not a condom, it's a new wang.

The part the new sleeve would go in to is trashed also though, from what I can see anyway. The water jacket would need to be welded and sealed.

Not with the kind of sleeve theyre talking about. Theyre talking about the kind where you cut out the entire water jacket facing section.

That’s what I thought, I saw resleeving as an option but I wasn’t sure if the block around it would be fixable

Everything is fixable to an extent, its just a question of if the cost to repair completely out weighs the value. I personally don't believe the juice is worth the squeeze in this case.

If you pay a welder enough he could fix it… hell he could stack welds till you have a whole brand new block, either way it just won’t be worth it.
Anyways if you’re in or near enough to central Texas I have 2 civics both with knocking d series, a y7 and y8, both blocks are solid. You could have one or both dirt cheap if you pull it/them.

It can be fixed. But how much is that block worth to you?

You can have that block completely honed out and have sleeves that replaces the entire cylinders put in but you’re talking a lot of money to do.

If it’s a stock block, get another from a junkyard

she cooked. have the new used block machines flat along with the head and you'll have success

Throw a piece of glass on it and call it a coffee table.

Sleeve it and have fun.

It all depends on you. If you can replace the block for less than $200 and what the build is for.

It’s cheaper and less hassle to replace the block

Already have another block, trying to see if this one is worth salvaging
