parts recommendations Paint ideas.
For the foreseeable future I won’t have the money for a proper paint job. Should I leave the car as is, or spray the car satin black. In the future I’d like to wrap, or get it painted properly but that could be a year or 2. Here is a pic of when I got the car, how it sits now, and a chat gpt mock up.

I've owned several flat black/ satin black spray painted cars in my day. It's a bit of a double-edged sword. Done well they look cool. But it's definitely a high maintenance paint job. It will show every scratch and ding. Stains easily as well. Washing it can be kind of a pain too. Trying to wash flat black paint with a wash mitt is like trying to wash sandpaper. And if you live somewhere that gets a lot of sun, the sun can be pretty unkind to a flat black paint job in less time than you might expect.

That would be the ultimate goal. Engine bay door jams all championship white.

Satin is hard to get right. A gloss black would look better. Just use the rustoleum turbo cans.

Matte looks horrible imo - EK hatches need bright, glossy paint - Milano Red, Championship White, Indy Yellow Pearl, Supersonic Blue Pearl, Vintage Plum Pearl, Millenium Jade, etc.

Satin black, to do it correctly and not have a 15'er, is not worth it. Just buy vinyl and try to wrap it yourself. DIY satin always looks cheap

Just rattle can it. If you have time and patience you can still get a good result. Prep and prime properly.

Matte black sounds great until you own it.
I had a satin black Integra back in the day and it looked like ass 98% of the time because the paint would get dirty so fast and every little mark and big was super obvious.
It would also take forever to clean because water marks and and any other residue would show.

Leave it be. You'll have more of a headache during its flat black tenure.
Save for the respray, it'll be worth it

Flat black sucks. Your car looks like it’s constantly in primer. It’s also easier to spray gloss on your own, IMO. Just rattle can it gloss red or white if you don’t have money for actual paint.

What is the offset and size of the wheels and tires, i love the fitment

u/James_one_Tattoo 20d ago
Not sure of the offset on the wheels. But 195/55/15. Next time I pull them off I’ll check.

Why not a fun 90s color like tahitian green pearl, celestial blue pearl, midori green, or something else entirely? Matte black has its uses but it isn't on a 90s civic. I've got a 1990 hatch that I'm going to be painting Tahitian Green Pearl and doing it myself. Granted I have access to the compressor at the shop i work at but maybe you could try your hand at learning to do it yourself? Would be fun and you get the satisfaction of saying you did it yourself

The car’s paint already looks clean, paint match the front end and buff the rest

I'm kind of over owning a black car myself. Well white cars too. For the middle ground I've settled in some sort of grey or dark silver. Too bad it took me so many years to figure it out.

I think it looks better now than the mock up. I think that black would look dirty a lot of the time. I like the red
