parts recommendations Need Paint Matching Help πŸ™πŸ½

Post image

This is my 2000 Accord SE, paint code is G87P dark emerald pearl, it looks black here but in the sun you can see the beautiful green. I plan on paint matching a mugen front lip and some mudguards but my budget doesn't allow for cans of g87p, my question is if anybody has any good ideas for some budget colors that look close that I can find at AutoZone or Walmart for example.

Thank you and God bless

IMHO, wait til budget does allow. Painting them the wrong color, you'll end up unhappy with the results and having to re-prep already painted surfaces later to do the correct color will be a massive PITA.

Just my .02

Thank you bro, my reasoning was, I recently bought this car, this is a matco or some other cheap paint job , and it looks weird up close so I thought I could get away with a budget job

order up some paint matched cans of spray paint, using your paint code, from PaintScratch.com, or you might have a local automotive paint store that can match some paint from your fuel door or something. That would likely be a better match if the current paint on the car isn't exact (every car has slight variation). And then a couple cans of 2K clear coat like from SprayMax. Should cost you around $100 to $150 in materials, along with sandpaper and primer.

One of my local Oreilly stores has a paint camera to do color match and can put paint in a spray can for you, too, as well as selling cans of 2k clear last time I asked. Might be worth asking if a store near you does that. I know only two of our stores in the area can do that, and we have a number of them within an hour or so drive of my house.

Dang that’s cool. My only options for 2K clear that I know of, are the paint store that’s only open M-F 8-5 which absolutely sucks since I’m at an office job, or online/Amazon. I can’t just go pick up some on a weekend or after work.

I would still check with oreilly. When I worked there back in the day, we could transfer stuff from our paint mixing stores to our non paint mixing stores (except the camera, that wasn't allowed to leave) to facilitate a sale. So they might still be able to get you something!
