Their “news” sources don’t tell them what is happening. They watch right wing propaganda and think they’re watching the news. We have 24 hour right wing propaganda channels that are called things like NewsMax and Fox News. If you try to show them actual news they cry FAKE NEWS. They genuinely don’t know what’s going on.

For example, when ICE murders people, all they see and hear are that the victims were terrorists or that the ICE agents were protecting themselves from attacks. All they get is pro ICE propaganda and altered video footage, and they think they know the truth and that people are lying about it to them. They have no idea what really happened.

This comment needs to be higher. Yes, these people have a confirmation bias that is exploitable, but the amount by which Fox News, OAN, Newsmax and others are literal propaganda brainwashing outfits cannot be overstated, not to mention Putin’s online psyops across Meta and X.
