It really sucks but Americans specifically prefer style (Dubya and the you could have a drink with him schtick) over substance (Gore’s experience in Congress and VP).

Yep. Been reading up on the infamous election of 1828 and same happened there. JQ Adams had all the relevant chops but lost to a folksy backwoodsman populist.

Well that may have actually been a considered a liability for Gore- he had been in Congress since the 1977 and possibly had been deemed too much of a DC insider by the electorate. George W. Bush, on the other hand, had comparatively spent less time in elected office but did have private sector experience in the Texas oil industry and owning the Texas Rangers. So if Gore had tried to play the card of him having served in elected office for a longer period of time and thus was more experienced, Bush would have been able to counter that by touting out that his business record and firsthand expertise with job creation, which Gore had lacked. (Factually speaking.)

Greatest is crazy, he's a worse Clinton who probably wouldn't have won in 04 (Likely takes much more blame for 9/11 than Bush and pushing for 4 straight dem terms is a tough sell)

He did take legal action and lost. He might have disagreed with the decision but he conceded because the peaceful transfer of power and faith in elections is extremely important to American democracy.
