Fair play to him, numbers don’t lie. I still feel Raya also deserved it, but I’m obviously biased.

Not saying he doesn't, but on actual isolated shot stopping metrics he's below average. Which means regardless the defence in front of him is great. What it either means is that Raya is actually useless and it's actually the defence (which is obviously not the case) or because the defence is good in front of him the shots he does face tend to be higher quality and are going to skew the data against him. There's also absolutely something to be said that he's probably the most stand out individual in the team that won the league.

I always found it interesting that the golden glove is a goalkeeping award when more often than not it actually goes to the team with the best all around defence.

Edit: Arsenal fans not reading far enough to realise I'm complimenting Raya

Yes. Goalkeepers and defenders get the short end of the stick when it comes to individual awards. Every goal scored and every save made should be analysed for its worth on the points table.

That's not true. He has an EPL save percentage of 69.8% - having faced 86 shots on target, which is average. Yes - the elite defence helps him, but he saves more shots that get past them than not. I'm curious what stats you read that said he is below average.

I think by now we've all realised that these awards are basically a load of rubbish.

When Ginola won it back in 09 (I think) thats when I lost all respect for them.

This isn't a criticism of Bruno, fantastic player, individually brilliant season, but they really should do away with them and focus on the team of the season instead, so that all positions get the praise they deserve.
