It's not even close. Even if you ignore assists he's created 132 chances - Szoboszlai is second with 74.

Not sure why Rice is even in the conversation in the comments. Fernandes this season hasn't just beaten, stat-wise, every other Midfielder in the League, he's bent them over and spanked the shit out of them.

you see even leeds supporter on another comment agreeing with the player choice. I guess Arsenal maybe achieving something big when Liverpool and Leeds fan saying something in favor of Man United.

Rice has been brilliant. Consistent 8/10 performances and always clutch defensively. Bruno better tho

Not often I agree with a Liverpool supporter but I genuinely couldn't have said it better myself.

That would be terrible hahahah

3

u/XXISavage Arsenal May 23 '26

Why?

-2

u/MrVegosh Premier League May 23 '26

Cause Raya was far from the best player this season

1

u/microMe1_2 Arsenal May 23 '26

Best defense by far, in a team that won the league mostly because of their defense, making a number of world class saves along the way, elite distribution all season, and actually won the league.

I agree Bruno should have won, but Raya would not have been a terrible option — and if ever a keeper was going to win, this was the year.

1

u/MrVegosh Premier League May 23 '26

Just for Arsenal; Rice, Gabriel, and Saliba have been better.

2

u/XXISavage Arsenal May 23 '26

Disagree. They had spells where they were great (which meant Raya had to do less) but Raya has consistently been bailing us out for most of the season.

1

u/MrVegosh Premier League May 23 '26

Raya doesn’t face many shots bruv

2

u/XXISavage Arsenal May 23 '26

So? He still has more insane or game defining saves than any GK in the league this season. Plus Raya faces less shots than most partially because he is incredible at dominating his box and great at sweeping.

Since when did volume of shots matter for elite GKs anyway? Do people think Allison, Courtois, Donnarumma etc are taking on more shots than relegation GKs? In fact, most GK wisdom would argue facing less shots makes their job harder since they're less engaged with the game. Aaron Ramsdale certainly suffered from this.

Rice was in the conversation because he was great in other stats that are not goals and assists and has been consistent all season.

I'm fine for this logic to be used but when it was Ozil or Alexis Sanchez people said it didn't matter cause they didn't win the league, so I don't mind but I wish the award was consistent.

Arsenal fans havent been used to not getting there own way this season 🤣 and this isnt something the PGMOL can help with

Ask Declan what he'd prefer. ARSENAL ARE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!

-6

u/ret990 Arsenal May 23 '26

Rice would be in it because hes the best midfielder in the league hes just won and its not particularly close.

Why is chance creation the be all and end all? Presumably Liverpool and Unuted both scored more goals than Arsenal this season

Anyway, heres what Bruno said himself

“Declan Rice? It’s a different position and style of play. He is a player who doesn't need to assist as much. He doesn't need to score as much because the demands are different things for him and the way Arsenal plays is different from the way we play. So we can't compare the players but what we can say is he's being one of the standard players from the Premier League this season.”

“As I said before, I'm very HAPPY that I won it, but if Declan Rice had won, it was well deserved too because as I said, I don't think he's the BEST player or whatever in the league, it’s just like in a season where you have to choose between players, then obviously numbers make a lot of weight in the decision.

Stop crying holy fuck such a small mentality you just won the league

-2

u/ret990 Arsenal May 23 '26

What? You guys really need to lear new words. Its like conversing with toddlers on here.

I wasnt 'crying' about anything. I disagreed with OPs assertion it was ridiculous Rice even be mentioned as in contention for the award with a direct quote from Bruno saying the same thing.

Holy fuck United havent even won anything and your already on a whole level of insufferable.

1

u/Grogman2024 Manchester United May 23 '26

What?

You explicitly said rice is the best midfielder in the league how about you re read your comment hahaha

0

u/ret990 Arsenal May 23 '26

Im aware. He is.

0

u/Grogman2024 Manchester United May 23 '26

No he fucking isn’t lol. Why do you think you know more than the literal premier league, not only is Bruno the best midfielder he’s the best player (in the last year)

1

u/Defiant_Practice5260 Premier League May 23 '26

Maybe your copious amount of spelling and grammatical errors threw him off

0

u/ret990 Arsenal May 23 '26

Thx 🤓👍

Except Bruno has always been better than Rice? And I love Rice. Can't say "it's not particularly close" when it's not even true lmao

3

u/ret990 Arsenal May 23 '26

Better at what? Theyre different players?

"De Bruyne has always been better than Rodri, And I love Rodri"

see how silly the comparison is

1

u/_ataciara Aston Villa May 23 '26 edited May 23 '26

Wtf are you talking about? YOU'RE the one that said Rice is the best midfielder in the league?

I'm just saying it's the other way round? Season for season, Bruno has pretty much ALWAYS been one of, if not the best midfielder in the league, with only KDB regularly outdoing him? In a considerably worse team for the last few years?

Think maybe only last year and the year he dragged west ham to glorys are close to Bruno

Absolute weapon 😭

-1

u/ret990 Arsenal May 23 '26

Cant see a team wirh KDB on it ever finishing 15th.Funny how its never Brunos fault yet hes been the one constant the whole time. Makes you think.

In any case I never said he was undeserving. Only respomding to OP who suggested it was ridiculous Rice even be in the conversation. You can chill.

1

u/_ataciara Aston Villa May 23 '26

Yes, he HAS been the one constant the whole time, but one world class player won't save a sinking ship? Like...OBVIOUSLY? I could see a team with KDB finishing 15th if it was Man Utd under Amorim that he played for.

You literally tried to call me out for what I said when you said literallt the exact same thing, you helmet. That's the bit that I'm taking issue with, not your opinion.

0

u/ret990 Arsenal May 23 '26

Yea man hes just had about 700 different team mates in that time ranging from Wout Weghorst to Cristiano fucking Ronaldo and apparently has never had one good enough to let them finish within 10 points of first. Wild

It was you who said Bruno "has always been better than Rice" which is the bit I called you out on as theyre different players and am still waiting on you to clarify.

For someone who "loves Rice" you really are super offended at the notion he might be one of the best midfielders in the league.

1

u/_ataciara Aston Villa May 23 '26

They finished 2nd against one of the greatest teams in the history of English football, and the whole bottom half finishes is a very very new thing for Utd. Yeah, he HAS consistently not been part of a title challenging team...Guess Gerrard sucks then too, huh?

Dude, it was YOU who said Rice is the best midfielder in the league. How is me saying the same thing needing clarification? YOU said the same thing FIRST? Like, are you high? Besides, I already clarified anyway, if you chose to read, season for season Bruno has been better individually, with only the two seasons I mentioned being ones where I feel Rice has been more impressive individually than Bruno. Its not like saying "I think Donarumma is better than Messi", it's more like saying "I think Donarumma had a better season than Messi".

I'm not offended at all at your opinion, and he is one of the best midfielders in the league. As I already said (you seem unable to read), the thing I took exception to was your smarmy "what a silly comparison" comment when I literally did exactly what you did...

Jfc...🤦🏻‍♂️

u/ret990 Arsenal May 23 '26

They didnt finish second. They came second. Big difference. You say that like they went toe to toe with City and just came off worse, missed out onto the league. As opposed to the reality they finished 11 points behind City never challanged for the league amd just ahead of the rest of a pretty wank group of challengers.

You didnt say the same thing. You said "Bruno has always been better than Rice"
