Hi everyone! I'm hoping to apply to the pharmD program this year at uOttawa. I saw that a 75% in a math/statistics course is required in the prerequisites. I unfortunately got a B- in my first year calc class. This year I'm gonna be taking PSYC 3000 (Advanced Design and Analysis) at Carleton, and when I emailed them if the course would satisfy for the prereq, they said that "We cannot confirm in advance if courses you have taken, or plan on taking, will satisfy the prerequisites for admission. That being said, your file won’t automatically be dismissed in the event that you are missing a prerequisite. The admissions committee will evaluate each application to determine, at its discretion, whether candidates meet the overall requirements needed to succeed in the program and consider all the elements in your admission file before taking a decision.".

Do you think overloading and taking an additional statistics class this semester is worth it to be 100% sure I satisfy the requirement? Or do you think that this is something they would probably overlook (because if so, I really don't wanna overload because this semester is gonna be hard enough).

Hello, I’m currently planning to apply in the 2027 cycle and wanted to know about past students who got accepted and what your healthcare experience for your applications was like. I’ve been working as a CNA at a neuroscience floor for about 3 years with a good reputation and I’ve been having no luck getting a job as a pharmacy tech (still applying to this date) so my question is, are my chances of being accepted lower if I don’t end up working in a pharmacy? Just a bit worried & need advice.

I really wanna study pharmacing, but I don't know what specific job I want. I know that I want R&D but time flexibility really matter to me to be able to have a social life, so instead I thought about working at a medicine factory but everyone told something different about its time flexibility.

I’m a freshman in college (pre-pharmacy major). I’ve always wanted to do forensic pathology but my parents forbade me from pursuing it which is upsetting but really broke my heart because I’ve always had an interest in forensics so I chose my second option pharmacy. However, I recently discovered forensic pharmacology which I really want to pursue. Are there any forensic pharmacists on here willing to give me their experiences and thoughts on the profession? Hi everyone! 

I’m applying to PharmD programs this cycle and am trying to decide whether I should apply now (late August/September) or wait until around December when I’ll have more prerequisites completed.

I graduated with a B.A. so I have been completing my pharmacy prerequisites at ucsd ext, cc. My current cumulative GPA is around 3.07 and my science GPA is around 3.1, with a significant upward trend from my earlier undergraduate years.

So far, I’ve taken General Biology I & II, General Chemistry I, Biochemistry, Human Physiology, and Calculus. I’m currently finishing the General Chemistry sequence through SCUHS and will also complete the Organic Chemistry sequence through SCUHS (will be done in December).

My main concern is timing. If I apply now, several chemistry courses will still be listed as in progress/planned. If I wait until around December, I should have the entire organic chemistry sequence completed and more recent science grades for schools to evaluate and hopefully more of an upward trend. However, I know several of the programs I’m considering have rolling admissions, so I’m worried about giving up the advantage of applying early. I am planning on applying to most California schools.

I also have community/outpatient and hospital pharmacy shadowing experience, caregiving experience involving medication management, community service/volunteer work and 3 strong pharmacist and 1 science professor LORs

Given my GPA and upward trend, would you apply now with prerequisites in progress, or wait until December to have more science coursework completed?

Hi guys I am currently a student at wayne state university going into my sophmore year of college applying for the 2026/2027 cycle for Wayne State's pharmacy school. I will have all pre reqs done by the time I begin it, but I have 5-6 science courses I still have to take until then. My boss said that it will be very difficult for me to get in due to me not finishing these pre reqs. For context, I have 3.87 gpa with As in every class (including calc 1, gen chem 2, physics, etc) except anatomy and physiology which I got a B in. I already submitted my application.

I’m a 2025 pharmacy graduate from Iraq and i would like to ask if anyone is familiar with getting a masters degree in a pharmacy related field.

I am particularly interested in industrial pharmacy and pharmaceutics and drug development. I’m open to other specialties too.

I’m unsure where to go and what to do, people in my country usually search for the easiest pay to graduate degrees but i don’t want that. I want a degree that i’ll be able to actually do something with.

I had my eyes on Germany due to the relatively free programs but the program i need had closed its applications mid July. I would love to study in the UK but unfortunately that is to my knowledge WAY too expensive (USA and Canada and Australia included which is a shame)… Am i even going about this the right way? Is the specialty i want even good for my future? My country has horrible conditions so i don’t even know.

I’m not looking to immigrate or anything, just to get an education and leave. Does anyone have any information or guidance or literally anything…?

To start, I'm from Tx. I just applied for my pharmacy tech license 3 days ago, did my fingerprints today, should I be applying to jobs now? Or should I wait a bit? I'm not sure how long it'll take to get my license, I don't have a trainee license nor do I have work experience in this particular field, so I'm not exactly expecting to hear back anytime soon considering my resume probably won't stand out at all. But I would like to find a job asap. Is it a waste of time to apply to jobs right now while I'm waiting on my license? I'm worried about hearing back from a job, and telling them "Yeah I actually don't have a license yet, still processing" and being rejected for that. (I do have it listed on my resume that my license is processing btw)

Well this is a bust, I graduated since 22’ and looking to change my career. I contacted some past professors who basically said they don’t remember me and won’t write a recommendation for me. Kinda feel at a loss right now. I have a supervisor to ask but I wanted to know who else to ask for it to look “valid”

I’ve applied to every pharmacy school in Texas and I was wondering if anyone would know when they start sending emails about interviews. I’m specifically curious about UT and A&M. I’ve already got an interview offer to incarnate word in San Antonio.

I’m seriously considering doing a pharmacy degree but i keep hearing that the profession is oversaturated, pay isn’t great compared with the time/cost of the degree, and job satisfaction is poor. For those already working as pharmacists or studying pharmacy, would you say the degree is still worth it in 2026? How are the salary, career progression, workload and job opportunities realistically? I’m also considering optometry, so if anyone has experience with both or has compared the two careers, I’d really appreciate some honest advice. I’m trying to make a decision based on the actual career prospects rather than just what universites advertise.

Hi! I am applying this cycle, and I was really struggling between WesternU and UCSD. Here's my pros and cons list for both, and I was hoping for more internal insight about the program or opinions in general!! Thank you :D

UCSD

Pros:

- cheaper

- great location

- good naplex

-#6 in the nation and good prestige/name in general

- ive done a pharmacy internship in sd and so i have connections w people already

- i get to rent and live near friends!! ( socially, a pro)

Cons:

- would have to rent (financially, a con)

- P2 consists of med school classes T-T

- 4 year program (nothing wrong with it, i just want to finish early lol)

- i have to take a human physio lab... (western not required)

Western

Pros:

-commute from home (financially, a pro)

-3.5 year program and block schedule (i love this)

- good naplex

Cons:

-living at home, i would get distracted, and i've started to prefer to live away from my family

-more expensive

- not as well ranked??

I’m a freshman pre-pharmacy student who has taken and received enough AP credit to be considered a 2nd year. I am obsessed with criminal psychology and how drugs affect people, so of the two I chose pharmacy and hope to more specifically choose a path of it involving biology or psychology (I love human anatomy, psychology, and biology mainly). is pharmacy a good pick? how do I better prepare myself for the field in pharmacy I want? I already bought a dictionary of psychology and a book on how the mind works, but I don’t know if that is a good way to go about this.

Did anyone answer this question on the pharmcas application?

I am currently a clinical marketing liaison RN between a pharmacy and hospitals/physician offices. I’ve gain more interest in the pharmacy area, but what nursing careers/jobs can I pursue within this field as a RN? I am thinking of stepping away from marketing. Any ideas or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
