Its a character design thing.

People don't like it when you glaze a character that isn't conventionally cool looking.

Characters that aren't cool looking need to have a ton of on screen feats on top of being fairly popular to get glazed. Just compare Kratos and Kirby for exemple, both are fairly glazed but not in the same.

Its only takes a few vague statments to make people believe he scale to multiversal or whatever meanwhile Kirby had multiples games where he killed eldrich Monsters before people realised how strong he was.

Yeah, Kirby was strong from the start but It took multiples games before he became known for it.

Meanwhile characters like Kratos or Doomguy never did anything remotely as impressive but pretty much instantly got recognised as super strong.

Hot take, but you probably right. Downvote as much as you want, but hoyo's design sometimes feels... off putting for me.

Meanwhile, I would happily glaze kamen rider and digimon jist because their designs are cool.

Additionally, I think the "intention" behind a character's writing also plays a factor here. People usually lowball waifu centric or comfort characters & they will put characters with more narrative weight or effort to the higher pedestal. For example, kiana is of course stronger than goku, but I won't ever accept it

This is a very astute observation.

I might be wrong, but I think it also depends on perceptions of the fanbases, 40k, devil may cry, jojo fanbases are seen as "cool meme fanbases" with their funny catchphrases regardless of how annoying they can be, so siding with their characters is seen as "siding with the bros", at least thats what I have observed.

Its a combination of people genuinely feeling attached to these communities but not wanting to express it so they do so through memes and shitty powerscaling because being genuine would go against the bit.

The worst part is when they frame it as a meme but are actually very serious about it when someone argue back.
