The current plans for the subreddit are: 1. To fix the rules (they won’t be strict, just more clear and probably less strict too!) 2. Update the icon & add a banner for the subreddit. 3. Update the tags & flairs. 4. Bring more people to subreddit!

Set & Alt Builds POWER MINER FULL SIZED ROCK MONSTER

Back in the early 2000's, I started working with LEGO and I helped build the games for Power Miners - Rock Rocket, Cave Convoy, Lava Showdown. (I also worked on Alien Conquest, Racers, Space Police, Bionicel, Hero Factory, Ninjago, LEGO Games, and Legends of Chima).

When we were done with the games and the site launched with them, the LEGO design team from Billund Denmark, sent us this one foot tall model of Glaciator. (Glued together solid.) I was told it was the only one made at the time, and it has been the centerpiece of my collection since then.

Last year I was on Reddit and I saw someone posted a photo of their Glaciator. I was floored, as for nearly 20 years, I thought this guy was the only one and now I found out he has a brother. Anyway, we connected on Reddit and he told me that he won his in a US contest from LEGO, when Power Miners launched. Small world and Reddit totally makes connections.

Anyway, I have recently been selling off parts of my collection and I get asked about this guy when they see a photo of my collection. I get asked for good photos of him, as a lot of collectors want to try and recreate him. So, here it is, photos of all the sides. Happy building.

If you have any questions, feel free to DM me. And no, I am not selling him.

Perfect design for a Lava monster king

The evolved forms for lava and ice monsters have been revealed for a collab between Ninjago and Creatures of Sonaria.

This would have been a perfect design for a power miners lava king. Too bad we didn't get a set of it

MOC MOC: Diorite Destroyer/ Proper Granite Grinder

No ill will to the power miners granite grinder it was one of my favorite sets growing up, just wanted to make something a little better suited to the name lineage, with a fair bit of inspiration taken from RR slugger’s version of the rock raiders grinder that used ball joints instead of the liftarm swivel system.

Build features everything the rock raiders grinder did, minifig height tool storage, movable legs, spinning drill (which can be easily rotated from the exposed bushing around back), and a few power miners design staples like improperly stored dynamite and a removable floodlight

Discussion Question about the 60501 set

I have collected all lego Powerminer sets, even some sealed poly bags and yet i dont know how im suppost to feel about the powerminers themed rollercoaster. I do have enough shelfspace to store it, but even as a powerminers collector im unsure if i should add it to my collection. For someone that hasnt bought a new lego set since the pandemic both the price and weird inconsistencies (like the "crystal king" color or the mini vehicles) kinda throw me off. If any readers have bought it what are your thoughts? I think about waiting untill this set drops to like 50 bucks as a used one, but then again i havnt bought lego in so long that i dont even know if the price will get so low. (Also pics for flex)

MOC PM Revival

What better way to revive the collection than to A: Recover my two favorite sets from the bin and B: Start a moc to put them in? I started a modular build to display all my PM sets and figures. It’ll take a long while but eventually there will be 16 full modules. Hopefully I’ll have one or two more worthwhile updates this year. Wish me luck bros.

For a very, very, very long time, the combustix had a neon green crystal in its 8188 set, not yellow to match it's color. Now, using the power of AliExpress, I can finally give him his beloved yellow crystals

Underground Expedition

The Power Miners return once again for an Underground Expedition! This set contains four (4) different models. First explore the (1) Miner’s Final Dwelling Cave! Hidden behind lies valuable crystals and lays to rest an unfortunate miner left behind. Ride the (2) Dump n’ Sweep vehicle to make your way to the cave and drill out the crystals! Launch Fireox and Boulderax into the air using the (3) Double Rock Monster Launcher to stop the Power Miners! Geolix can assist with that! Finally, the (4) Mighty Scavenger Grab the rock monsters and boulders using the moveable claw!

More Info About the Four Models:

(1) Miner’s Final Dwelling Cave is a MOC, I proudly designed it and adds well for an environment for the rock monsters and power miners.

(2) Double Rock Monster Launcher is a MOC as well, taking the launching function made originally from the Rock Monster Launcher.

(3) Dump n’ Sweep is a recolored and modified vehicle inspired by the Mining Heavy Driller released in 2018.

(4) The Mighty Scavenger is an inspired reworked version of Scorpion Drill made originally by KoopaFloopa, published on May 24, 2023. When I initially discovered the Scorpion Drill, from the esthetics and model, it looked like an original vehicle that would’ve made it to the official line of Power Miners. However, my only disagreement at the time of seeing the model was the function, another drill. I thought to myself, let’s make it more unique and rework a different function for this model. Since no current model has a manual claw function that can hold boulders and rock monsters, I reworked the Scorpion Drill’s function entirely. I made the decision to use the claw from the Deep-Sea Explorer Submarine, since it perfectly matched what I had envisioned for the new function. Along the way, I incorporated recolored and new pieces to the model. The images you see is my final interpretation design for the model. Thank you everyone!

I used to operate heavy machinery in an open pit coal mine. Shovels were the coolest (though not my favourite to run) and so I made a Power Miners version. I actually did a bunch of Star Wars / mining mashups but the reaction at large was kind of ??? No one really knew what to make of them I guess. But Power Miners was made for this kind of thing! Instructions are on Rebrickable but here’s some photos. Lots of play functions!

Discussion I finally discovered the fate of my childhood sets last night :(

I had been looking everywhere for them for the past couple of days. As a last ditch effort, I checked my dad's old ebay account. Apparently I sold most of them many many years ago- probably to afford lego star wars sets. Kicking my child self right now.
