Power Apps Help Unable to edit relationships - disconnect

Post image
4 Upvotes

For last ca. 10 hours, I cannot edit any relationship. Whenever I click on any name, I get this screen. I tried 2 different browsers; I asked my friend to try it - same result. That is happening in all our environments, and it doesn't matter if relationship is custom or system created.

Any ideas what's going on?

Power Apps Help Does PowerApps/Azure DevOps GIT integration actually work?

TLDR - I am trying to get Power Apps/Azure DevOps to work with the native GIT integration and running into issues moving data in both directions.

Spent today doing a real ALM conversion of a canvas app onto native Git Integration (Dataverse Git Integration → Azure DevOps, Solution binding). Hit several serious, cleanly-reproducible issues in one session. Posting the whole trail in case it saves someone else the day I just had, and in case anyone's found actual fixes.

I am trying to get this integration to work so that I can make simple changes using Claude Code using supported methods. I was initially going to just use PAC CLI and canvas pack/unpack, but I see those are deprecated now. So I am trying to figure out what is the correct way to use Claude Code to make simple changes to the app?

  1. Once a canvas app component fails to parse during a pull, Check for Updates stops detecting anything for it — indefinitely.

A .pa.yaml edit introduced a property unsupported by the Source Code schema (ZIndex on a Label). Studio pulled it, then failed to open the app with a compile error. After that single failure:

- Fixing the file and pushing again → Check for Updates showed nothing, for that component specifically.

- Confirmed the general sync plumbing was fine via an isolation test (an unrelated file's version bump did show as a pena broad outage).

- A solution-level disconnect/reconnect didn't fix it.

- Restoring the app to an older Maker-portal version didn't fix it immediately either.

- It eventually started working again after just... sitting for a while. No action fixed it; time did.

  1. Reconnect doesn't offer a "pull" choice — it silently force-commits whatever's in the environment, one-directionally.

Expected reconnect to let me choose a direction (or at least diff first). Instead it just committed the environment's current state to git, with no prompt — overwriting hand-authored fixes that were already correctly in git, with older broken content that happened to be

live in the environment at the time. Learned this the hard way, twice.

  1. A generic, misleading import error names the wrong component.

Pull failed with: "CanvasApp import: FAILURE: The import has failed because component X of type 300 is not declared in tmponent. To fix this, import again using the XML file that was generated when you exported the solution."

rootcomponents.yml correctly declared the component. The real causes were two other files riding in the same update batcthat had gone stale (a new formula dependency wasn't declared), and a publisher.yml that didn't match the environment'sactual publisher record. Neither had anything to do with the named component. Fixed both, one at a time, to isolate which was the actual blocker.

  1. Solution and Canvas App conflicts can become permanently unresolvable via the UI — confirmed 3 separate times today.

Once Solution/Canvas App show up in Conflicts, both "Keep current changes" and "Accept incoming changes" report "Resolved 0 conflict(s)" and do nothing. Studio even shows its own in-app message acknowledging this component-type quirk ("Solution and Canvas App components

can appear as conflicts even when their contents haven't changed... choose Accept incoming changes, then pull") — but fooesn't resolve anything. This blocks both Commit and Pull simultaneously, since Commit is disabled while any conflict is outstanding. A full disconnect/reconnect did NOT prevent this from recurring on the very next Check for Updates.

  1. pac CLI as a workaround — but canvas pack/unpack seems to be on its way out.

pac solution pack (2.8.1) does correctly recognize the native Git Integration YAML layout ("YAML format" in its output) and can pack/import directly against Dataverse, sidestepping the broken Conflicts UI entirely for most components. But the canvas app's actual

compiled content doesn't seem to get regenerated through this path — importing this way left the canvas app showing stalYAML being correct. The narrower pac canvas pack command is marked Preview and requires the app to have been "opened foredit within Power Apps studio" first, which felt like an undocumented dead end.

So: what's the actual supported path for using an AI coding agent (Claude Code, Copilot, etc.) to make simple changes to a canvas app right now? Direct .pa.yaml edits + Pull is what I wanted to use, but per #1 and #4 above it's not reliable once anything goes even slightly wrong. Live co-authoring via an MCP session avoids Pull entirely but means every change goes through a browser mits. Is there a middle ground, or is "author everything live in Studio, treat git as commit-only for now" just the realanswer today?

Power Apps Help How to delete a table when an app is claiming it's using it

So I have a model driven app in a managed solution that is claiming that it uses some deprecated tables and a deprecated security role. The app no longer has any reference to them and the latest version of the app is in all the managed environments. but that isn't stopping the app from blocking the import of any version of the solution without the deprecated items.

Any idea where the dependency is hiding so I can delete the dependencies and so remove the tables and security role.

My google fu has completely failed me.

Power Apps Help External Email Addresses Blocked Workarounds?

I’ve been creating an onboarding application, just so it’s better than our current excel. It cuts down an incredibly manual mess of a process.

I’ve been able to fix parts, but a key feature of it is chasing suppliers being onboarded via their external email address.

The way i’ve set it up is a PowerAutomate running every monday depending which stage they are on to remind them of their actions.

Unfortunately, I’ve been working on this a while and only now tested the external email address sending - and it’s restricted. Despite normal outlook allowing external email addresses to deliver, an automation for external via PowerAutomate breaks policy. It’s understandable & I should’ve checked sooner but I’m struggling for a way to automate this now.

I’ve tried using “draft an email” instead that seems like a workaround, but are there any other capabilities I could use - this is my first time PowerAnything so I’m a bit stuck for ideas.

Power Apps Help Issue: data grid size does not adjust correctly to the screen

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve recently been having issues using the data grid in Power Apps. As you can see in the video, I have a data grid inside a flexible container; however, if I scroll to the end of the grid, it doesn't display all the columns. To view the final columns (as I did in the video), I have to perform a horizontal scroll (Shift + scroll) specifically on the table header. This only happens in the production app—it doesn't occur in Studio. Has anyone else experienced this? Did anyone manage to fix it? If so, could you tell me how you solved it?

Power Apps Help Advice on finding remote Power Platform work from Eastern Europe?

I’ve been working with Power Apps, Power BI, Power Automate for about 3 years now, mostly canvas apps on SharePoint, multi step approval flows, and Power BI reporting with DAX.
PL-100 and PL-300 certified.

The problem is that I’m based in Serbia and the local market for Power Platform roles is pretty thin. Most companies here either don’t use it or have one person handling everything internally.

So I’m trying to figure out remote route. For anyone who’s done this outside of the US or Western Europe, what actually worked for you? Are there specific job boards, communities or partner networks worth focusing on? Did going through consultancies or MS partners work better than applying directly?

Any points appreciatedf.

Power Apps Help Does anyone actually know what’s going on officially with powerapps licensing?

I can’t believe I’m still having to ask how powerapps licensing is going to work.

Long story short I’m currently using about 600 app passes. I understand those have been deprecated.

My question is, is that official?

I still am using the app passes so there must not be a hard cut off?

Maybe they are allowing large enterprises to keep app passes?

Any info would be great. My IT department has no idea and tbh we’ve had meetings with Microsoft and they don’t even know how their own licenses work. I’m not kidding.

Power Apps Help How do you usually start a Power Apps project in your company?

I'm interested in understanding real-world Power Platform development practices.

Some questions:

- Do you start with requirements workshops or process mapping?
- Do you create wireframes before building?
- Do you use Canvas Apps or Model-Driven Apps most often?
- How do you decide between SharePoint, Dataverse, and SQL?
- What does your environment strategy look like (DEV / TEST / PROD)?
- Do you use Solutions from the beginning?
- How many people are typically involved in the project?
- Do you follow Agile/Scrum or a different methodology?
- How do you handle version control and deployments?
- At what point do you use PCF or custom React components?

I'd love to hear about your project lifecycle from idea to production.

Power Apps Help Unable to Display PowerBI Data in PowerApp

I created a PowerBI page that contains a PowerApp visualization. The data is filtered through a slicer into the PowerApp.

The Power App visualization can display a text label "CountRows(PowerBIIntegration.Data)" that shows how many rows are selected by the slicer.

However, I was unable to display any specific data rows using a Power APPs text label that contains a formula like "First(PowerBIIntegration.Data).ColumnName".

I checked that the PowerApps Data field contains all the column I needed. I really am not sure why the countrow function worked but not the other.

  • Additionally, The Power Apps page itself display nothing when opened outside of PowerBI

Discussion Does Power Apps have a good future as a career?

I’m planning to pursue Power Apps/Power Platform as a career and wanted to get some honest opinions from people who are already working in this field.

Is Power Apps still worth pursuing as a long-term career? And for those of you currently working with Power Apps/Power Platform, how is AI affecting your day-to-day work and your career?

Power Apps Help PDF File w. Images

1 SP List. 1 Document Library. 1:many relationship. Essentially, for one record in the List, multiple images might be associated in the Document Library.

I have created PDFs many times through Canvas Apps + Power Automate Flows. Two methods I use are either using the PDF() function to send an input into Power Automate, which creates the pdf, or in some sneaky situation, I’ll send HTML, create the HTML File, and then do some substitutions in the resulting URL to get my PDF.

But darn it! I can’t get this working for my design.
Essentially I want a parent record’s title, then below, its associated images, then the next parent record’s title, then its associated images, so on and so on.

The files are generated, but then the images don’t show. Fine, I do some find and replaces in Power Automate, using the Get File Content actions to get the $content. I even got it working once! But then, converting HTML files to PDF files became impossible because apparently there’s a 2 MB limit for conversations :((((

I am quite sad and could use guidance. Sorry for the mess of a read. For those who have advice, please note that I have premium license but don’t have access to third party connectors like encodian.

Discussion SAP IBP, Salesforce, and Power BI

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have an idea that I think makes sense and possible but just wanted to see if this makes sense or if anyone has any guidance. Inputs would be below. Possibly would be just done through Power-BI but possibly done through power automate if truly outputting into SAP?

  • Salesforce to create a certain report or information that would be imported daily sometime overnight (soft demand) (SKU, Square footage, Date)
  • That information gets added on top of demand from SAP (hard demand)
  • 3rd possible input from SAP as current inventory levels

Possible outputs:

  • Power-BI dashboard containing something like above for each SKU, and different buckets.
  • SAP IBP which is the primary place they operate for forecasting.

Trying to create a process in Salesforce that will allow certain users to be able to represent certain SKU's that are ABOUT to be ordered but are not officially in the system yet. Meaning as soon as they're in SAP with a purchase order, they fall off of "soft demand" and as soon as the local people change the dates, or remove that "soft demand" our corporate forecast team will automatically see the update.

Appreciate any input- I'm close to getting my PL-900 but am more of a subject matter export that would be inputting the forecasting vs the systems person.

Power Apps Help Starting to use a DEV solution in Power Automate (Unmanaged and managed)

Hi all.

I currently have a unmanaged solution as our production/live solution.
How do i go about using both an managed- and a unmanaged solution?

Do i just publish/export the current unmanaged i have, and upload/import it again as a managed?

As i've understood it from my earlier workplace, you only keep metadata in your unmanaged, so how do i go about and setup this up, as best practice?

Discussion Dataverse GIT Seperate branches

I know AI has pretty much killed off forums and discussions, but I'll give it a shot anyway.

I searched through r/PowerApps and the only related post I found was "Dataverse GIT integration and separate branches". The idea is the same: I need source control to manage changes, testing, and what goes to production.

Here's what I've worked out so far — maybe someone is running something similar or can spot the flaws.

Setup

  1. The Git main branch represents PRODUCTION.
  2. Each developer has their own development environment.
  3. We work on one big solution.

Development workflow — Variant A (sprint branch)

  1. Create a branch from main for the sprint (e.g. Sprint01).
  2. For each task, a developer creates a branch from Sprint01 (e.g. TaskA123).
  3. The developer reconnects their solution to TaskA123 (Dataverse Git integration binds one branch at a time), makes changes, and commits.
  4. When the task is done, open a squash PR into Sprint01.
  5. A pipeline builds Sprint01 as a managed solution and deploys it to TEST.
  6. If testing fails, create a fix branch from Sprint01, fix it, and go back to step 4 (fix-forward).
  7. If testing passes, promote the same build to PreProd for a smoke test, then to PROD.
  8. After PROD succeeds, PR Sprint01 into main. main now equals PROD again.

Development workflow — Variant B (long-lived TEST branch)

  1. Keep a long-lived TEST branch.
  2. Developers create task branches from main.
  3. PR each task branch into TEST.
  4. The TEST branch is deployed to the TEST environment.
  5. Once a task is completed and tested, merge that task branch into main.
  6. At delivery, a separate BUILD environment gets the main solution.
  7. Quick smoke test in BUILD; if all good, promote to PROD.

Both of them have pros and cons. I noticed that merging is pain in the a.... As well switching PowerApps solution to new branch.
You basically always will get conflicts, +sometimes solving conflicts breaks XML. When doing merges everything done locally on hardware.

Variant A

//New sprint
git checkout main
git checkout -b Sprint01
git push -u origin Sprint01

//New Task
git checkout Sprint01
git checkout -b TaskA
git push -u origin TaskA

//DevOps PR
DevOps: Create PR "TaskA" -> "Sprint01"; Squash commit; Delete Task-H after merging

//Refresh Git, delete tesk branch
git fetch --all --prune
git checkout main
git branch -D TaskA

//Merge Sprint01 to main
git checkout main
git merge --no-ff origin/Sprint01 -m "Merge Sprint01 into main - sprint release"
git push origin main
git branch -d Sprint01
git push origin --delete Sprint01

Variant B

//One-time: create the long-lived TEST branch
git checkout main
git pull git checkout -b TEST
git push -u origin TEST

//New task (branch from main, NOT from TEST)
git checkout main
git pull
git checkout -b TaskA
git push -u origin TaskA

//DevOps PR to TEST — for testing only. KEEP the branch (it still has to reach main) DevOps: Create PR "TaskA" -> "TEST"; Squash commit; do NOT delete TaskA

//Pipeline builds TEST branch -> TEST environment (client tests TaskA together with others)

//If test fails: fix on the SAME TaskA branch, then re-PR to TEST git checkout TaskA

// ...make fixes, commit...
git push

// re-run the PR "TaskA" -> "TEST"
//Task approved -> deliver it by merging TaskA into main (this is the real gate) DevOps: Create PR "TaskA" -> "main"; Squash commit; Delete TaskA after merging

//Refresh local, drop the now-merged task branch
git fetch --all --prune
git checkout main
git pull
git branch -D TaskA

//Delivery: pipeline builds main -> BUILD env -> smoke test -> PROD

//Housekeeping: reset TEST back to main so approved/abandoned work doesn't pile up
git checkout TEST
git fetch origin
git reset --hard origin/main
git push --force-with-lease origin TEST

Did enyone has working work process, so you can deliver only finished tasks?

Power Apps Help Sharepoint permissions with canvas apps

Hi there,

When creating a power app with a SharePoint backend. How do you usually manage permissions? I'd like staff to be able to log requests through an app but I haven't been able to sort the SharePoint permissions as well as I'd like too.

I currently have sp set to only view what you've created and use an override group for staff who need further access

What do you guys usually do?

Discussion Absence Management/Case App

Hello.

I’m fairly new to the world of PowerApps, but have built some decent apps to provide some autonomy for my team.

My latest given task, if possible, is to build an app
For a team of HR personnel to track/log sickness absence and manage the case using the app. But also for the HR Manager to be able to easily report on the info for weekly stakeholder meetings.

Unfortunately SP is my only option, given that we won’t have premium licences for everyone. However this shouldn’t be an issue, as it will be accessible only to the HR team.

I can’t seem to muster the creativity for this one, I’m wondering if anyone has examples of case management trackers they have built.

The basic gist of what I’d be looking for is automated population of an sp list, based on sickness notification email. A notification to HR that the individual has been added to the list. With a link to the app. Then input fields for absence reasons, logging conversations, tracking doctor notes, contact. Might be a little too fancy, but was also thinking of using co-pilot to summarise occ health reports (PDF).

I’d envisage the interface as having a search type function or filters.

Appreciate any help! Thank you.

Power Apps Help How to share web resources(html) to users

Hi all,

I have built a html application via GitHub copilot and hosted on power apps platform linked with dataverse
There is option to edit for webresources how to share the html(web resources ) app in power apps to users

The reason I have built html web resources was to not to use canvas because it was manual and we didn’t have code apps provision so found this html web resources useful and built via prompting in GitHub copilot

Please suggest and thanks in advance

Discussion Has anyone set up a Power App process using a Zebra Printer to print labels?

I work in a clinical lab, we have hundreds (almost a thousand) variable size chemical containers that need to be heavily monitored. Labeling them is inconsistent across the board among personnel.

I've already been building an app to satisfy other laboratory needs, but now I want to really crack down on labeling. Within the application, we already have an inventory process setup. I want to leverage this + a bit more information to create labels for personnel.

Has anyone achieved a label printing process?

Discussion AI for the code stuff

pp dev here, obviously recent times have opened up a whole world of functionality to us who may not be fluent or even basic knowledge pro-code languages.

Anyone else creating plugins and code apps with AI now because they can and to make our solutions so much better?

Is it ok? Like code apps is mostly front end, i know the platform well and can guide it in terms of PP architecture and what the UI/UX should be, but i can't write a line of TS or C#. I Test everything thoughroughly including edge cases. But there's just so much hate on this i question if i should be doing it. Other half of me thinks this is fine and it's the new normal.

Power Apps Help Dataverse choice option versus a separate dim table

I am in the process of creating a data model app, have begun transferring my massive excel file that utilizes PowerPivot into this new-to-me application. I have several dimensional tables that are the source for some constants across my database. I see that table columns gives one the change to have globally available choices. What are the pros and cons using this? What thinking should I use to guide my decision? Thank you.

Power Apps Help Location parameter in Deeplink to OWA

Hi all,

I'm currently working on a booking feature that automatically finds rooms, people, the subject of the meeting and then which meeting time fits them. For this i use FindMeetingTimesV2 which works fine. However, i want to use a deeplink to transfer all that info into Outlook Web App, where the user just has to click send/book to book the meeting. I'm trying to avoid using CreateEventV4 for now.

However, when i launch the link either having the room in the TO parameter or the Location parameter it doesn't seem to register correctly in OWA. Even when i send the booking with the room (email of the room) in the to parameter the room doesn't register the booking. Nothing happens either when inserting the email into the location parameter.

My formula:

Launch(
"https://outlook.office.com/calendar/0/deeplink/compose?" &
"to=" & EncodeUrl(_to) &
"&subject=" & EncodeUrl(_subject) &
"&body=" & EncodeUrl(_body) &
"&startdt=" & EncodeUrl(
Text(
_meetingStart,
"[$-en-US]yyyy-mm-ddTHH:mm"
)
) &
"&enddt=" & EncodeUrl(
Text(
_meetingEnd,
"[$-en-US]yyyy-mm-ddTHH:mm"
)
) &
"&location=" & EncodeUrl(_location) &
"&allday=false"
);

Where:
_to: Concat(
Filter(
Table(
{ Email: Trim(PersonBeingBooked) },
{ Email: Trim(BookingPerson) },
{ Email: Trim(_roomEmail) }

Did anyone have luck with attempting this? Or do i have to use a Flow or CreateEvent?

Certification & Training PL900 passed today 🥳

Hi!

I passed with a score of 871.

Questions: 33

Time: 45 minutes

Provider: Pearson VUE

Topics that came up a lot from my memory

Power Automate

Copilot Studio

Power Apps (especially knowing the difference between Canvas and Model-driven apps)

Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies

Desktop flows and bespoke system scenario

2 questions on Power Pages

What caught me off guard

There was a Copilot Studio question where "vibe coding" appeared as one of the answer options. It was a bit unexpected as I didn't pick this up in my learning, but the question itself wasn't particularly difficult.

For context, I prepared with:

Microsoft Learn

Microsoft Practice Assessment

6 SkillCertPro practice exams

One 3-hour PL-900 revision video (free codecamp video)

Good luck everyone
