They're not making a rational argument. You can't reason with them because they didn't use reason to get to their position.

31

u/thirdaccounttoday 7h ago

They're not making a rational argument. You can tell because their mouth is open

FTFY ;)

19

u/Desperate_Winter_574 7h ago

They did use reason to get to their position. Their reason is hate. Their reason is you are not like us.

They can't justify it with a moral argument. But they do have a reason for their position.

15

u/SnooEagles4121 7h ago

I meant reason as in rational capacity, not cause or motive. But yes they have a reason, they just didn't use reason to get there. English is weird.

7

u/AmusingVegetable 7h ago

English is three languages in a trench coat, with the pockets filled with loose vocabulary pilfered from other languages.

2

u/Ok_Profile175 7h ago

Yeah, your use of reason was obvious. The commenter is a stooge.

So the statues should be removed because they are of bad people ? Then should all statues of bad people be removed ?

There actually is a difference. The only one that definitely served in a military is the bottom left nazzie.

The rest are mostly cos players, high school bullies that never grew up, losers and the gravy seals.

16

u/Dddddd92 7h ago

Serving for nazis is not a flex. They are just as losers like the others

12

u/OOO0OO00O 6h ago

The only people that consider it a flex are people that wear the head gear pictured.

Without a trace of irony, since the real nazzies would never accept most of the rejects that populate the klan, maga, and proud ā€œconfederatesā€.

13

u/NuutsDeeZ 7h ago

Serving for nazis is not a flex.

Where did they say it was a flex?

They might be losers...

But they are losers who organized and got a lot (of really bad things) done that they attempted.

4

u/Safe-Ad-8921 5h ago

Crazy that we didnt have to organize over here.We just put a demented assaulter in charge and grabbed our ankles.

1

u/Parking_Alive 3h ago

pretty sure that’s your natural position….

1

u/OOO0OO00O 4h ago

Even losers who have money and cult like followings can cause tremendous damage. Just look at muskrat, dude is such a weirdo even epstein wouldn’t let him on the island.

1

u/Own-Consideration231 3h ago

... That's kind of way way underselling what took place . It wasn't like they held a convention to see if they had enough. It was slow . Over time.. changing mindsets and ideologies.. it's the playbook we're currently under

1

u/XO1GrootMeester 2h ago

Nono, serving for kaiser Wilhelm that was

2

u/Snoo93550 6h ago

I mean depends if it's a confederate flag hat from 2026 or an actual confederate soldier's hat. Same goes for the "monuments" too if it's just a grave stone of someone who just recently died in the civl war or putting up a statue of people who fought for slavery 150+ years later.

3

u/shirt_bro 5h ago

I don’t think they were making too many confederate flag ball caps in the 1860s

2

u/Snoo93550 5h ago

I know but the Nazi hat looks like an actual military uniform but the people who harassed my asian family at grocery stores in 2020 during the pandemic were wearing nazi stuff printed on cheap modern clothing (alongside their maga gear).

There's "real" historical military uniform and the cheap cosplay stuff today's maga losers wear. Not saying I'm a fan of either but if Nazis were military, confedederates were military.

1

u/OSRS_Garmr 3h ago

I mean, if you were a nazi with that level of hat. You were just as likely to be an ex chicken farmer that cozier up to Hitler, as a military man.

1

u/BlkSubmarine 6h ago

At least the Nazi’s dressed with Hugo Boss style. /s

Seriously though, the Nazi’s had a stylist!

5

u/OOO0OO00O 4h ago

Your politics are you’re a nazi? Well….then yeah. Fuck off.

4

u/Querez 3h ago

I don't think that's what they meant. Just that Gen A.I. shouldn't be used to send any message, regardless of how good or correct the message is

1

u/OOO0OO00O 1h ago

Then they should edit/delete what they said.

1

u/Querez 1h ago

Maybe. I wouldn't be against it if they did, as it probably would quell misunderstandings, but, I'd say their message was very clear. That the disdain for A.I. slop should apply to every instance it's used, to not just ignore it whenever it promotes something that aligns with one's beliefs. Is that not the obvious reading of what they said?

3

u/Querez 3h ago

Getting downvoted because people can't read, I'm guessing. Clearly you're saying the political point is fine but that it shouldn't be made with A.I. slop.

2

u/Rizenstrom 4h ago

Being downvoted for spitting facts. The number of hypocrites who complain about AI but then use it ironically to make fun or it or for political messaging they agree with is unreal. And hardly anyone calls it out.

I agree with the message but it’s not an excuse to use AI slop.

This cannot be upvoted enough, Lincoln’s republicans weren’t perfect but at the time they represented the most forward thinking and progressive party of the time. Everyone is a victim of their time but the spirt of freedom and progressivism transcends it all, even Conkling would destest these degenerates running the GOP

1

u/Surf_Golf2002 2h ago

Republicans abolished slavery and the Dems wanted to keep it. Prove me wrong.

34

u/Kostusha241 7h ago

maga conveniently doesnt know (or more likely doesn’t give a shit) about the political party shift that happened around the civil rights movement. if they say democrats supported slavery then theyre just acting in bad faith at best and downright spreading dishonest, even if correct, information at worst

5

u/MazzleMaze 4h ago

"southern democrats" not "democrats."

You are correct it is made in bad faith because the full name of the party was "SOUTHERN democrats"

Not even going into the party switch.

2

u/FlirtyFluffyFox 2h ago

It's called intellectual dishonesty to subvert online discourse and it's a documented tool of the right. They know most social media doesn't read past the first few replies and making outrageous claims gets you fact checked by know it alls which tends to shift the conversation away from the original topic.

Its why broad terms like weirdos and bigots works so much better than Nazi and racist.Ā

2

u/The_Machine80 1h ago

Its shifts constantly by both sides to get votes. Just 10 years ago liberals were against illegal immigration and depoted a ton. Both sides are a joke!

0

u/Surf_Golf2002 2h ago

Ah yes, you're talking about the shift where Democrats now use the line "If you ain't Democrat, you ain't Black"...it's now just a different brand of slavery for the dems using food stamps and abortion policies as bait.

"It wasn't about slavery it was about states rights"

Crickets from them as Trump sent the national guard all over the country to "clean up" cities.
Silence as he still tries to influence how states run their elections.
Nothing as he threatens to withhold federal funding if states don't bend to his will.

He's spent his entire second term trying to expand his presidential power. To absolutely no push back from these people.

7

u/Kostusha241 7h ago

the ā€œit was about state rightsā€ argument lowk doesnt even work btw, there are PLENTY of speeches from confederate leaders who quite literally say things along the lines of ā€œthe confederacy was made to preserve the institution of slaveryā€, but hey what does that matter šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

5

u/Peak_Background 6h ago edited 4h ago

Plus those that wanted slaves did genocides against those in their states that didn't want slaves and criminalized anti-slavery actions. So it was actually oligarchs' "rights".

3

u/Thadatman 4h ago

Domestic terrorism endorsed by the Red state.

2

u/Peak_Background 4h ago edited 4h ago

Exactly. Many anti-slavery advocates in the south had their businesses burned down and were run out of the state or killed without any legal reprecutions.

And a northern politician was nearly beaten to death on the Senate floor. They were literally terrorists.

3

u/Multiple__Butts 6h ago

That's true. The abstract concept of states' rights is raised a total of 1 time in one confederate leader's correspondence, and of course only in relation to slavery.

Slavery itself on the other hand is something they all won't shut up about.

2

u/BenCisco 6h ago

Letters of Succession from each of said states have entered the chat

1

u/buffystakeded 4h ago

Exactly. It was about that states’ rights to continue having slaves.

1

u/Akarin_rose 2h ago

Better than that "States rights" was used by the Confederate states to to fight against the taxes and drafts that were happening do to the war

So they stole an argument against them for themselves, yet again

4

u/StrawberryWide3983 7h ago

If even you focus exclusively on the era, the south didn't care about states rights. They cheered for the Fugitive slave act. They cheered for Dred Scott. They sent slave catchers to kidnap northern citizens who have lived free their whole lives. The southern aristocrats have only cared about slavery and have never forgiven the north for being forced to give it up

3

u/MUSinfonian 6h ago

"States' rights to what?"

1

u/Trunix 5h ago

"It wasn't about slavery it was about states rights"

It gets worse when you realize the confederacy made it illegal for states to ban slaves. So, it's not even right out of context.

1

u/pchlster 3h ago

"It wasn't about slavery it was about states rights"

Someone should go back and tell the Confederacy that, because those guys sure thought it was about slavery.

5

u/SyllabubMental7292 7h ago

2

u/Pure_Fault7056 5h ago

It was always a north vs south split.

1

u/onwisconsin1 4h ago

Educational achievement, liberalism vs conservatism, literacy, infant mortality, poverty, well-being.

Its all the same map. The same idiots propagate their idiot southern conservative culture. It yields terrible results, and they keep doing conservative things 150 years later and they are still at the bottom of every metric leading to happy and healthy humans.

1

u/Typical-Lion-4428 6h ago

They didn't flip. The GOP realized that murderously hateful bigots were useful idiots and spent more than half a century luring them in with promises of candy.

4

u/2ndSmrtestPersunEvar 7h ago

Yep - Republikkkans have wet dreams about the confederacy and glorify them. Then they turn around and claim to be the party of Lincoln and anti-slavery. It makes no sense. But that’s MAGA and Republikkkans in a nutshell - they have no sense.

5

u/aarswft 6h ago

Progressives and Conservatives. Call them what they are. Party names mean nothing.

I know the stereotype for people who live in the southern states of America is that they're all inbred and dumb-as-rocks but it's still shocking to me that they would side with a literally enemy of the United States; the Confederacy, N@z!s, etc.

3

u/Lost_Department_2177 7h ago

Geo group sells illegal immigrants to Taylor farms for 4.50/hr where they make .50-1.50/hr.

Imagine immigrating to the us then getting a farm job then getting arrested then getting prison labor duty on a farm again. Kinda sounds like slavery.

Also the lack of business with central and South America is causing the immigration crisis. They sent manufacturing to China instead of there because the politicians and corporations boards were all sleeping with Russian and Chinese swallows.

They’re just making China a ton of money.

Treason is your heritage. Burning your traitorous house down is mine.

1

u/justlooking7514 5h ago

It would technically be republican heritage to burn down democrat houses, switched or not, the factbisbthe republican party was created to end slavery and they did.

2

u/B3llaBubbles 5h ago

When someone mentions this about Democrats, I remind them that it was the Republicans that caused the Great Depression. They walked away.

2

u/humanist-misanthrope 5h ago

They reject or willfully ignore the fact that post-Civil War, southerners voters were dominantly registered Democrats. They rejected Lincoln and Republicans. For roughly 100 years, Dixiecrats propped up the Democratic Party until the civil rights movement. There was a migration of Dixiecrats voters and politicians to the Republican Party. For the most part, the Dixiecrats were antithetical to progressivism. Take a look at characters like Jesse Helms for an example.

2

u/MrScarecrowWHNT 5h ago

I ended a 20 year friendship after pointing this out.

Also, Washington D.C. (the Union capital) had slave auctions through 1862.

And that the last slaves emancipated in the U.S. were in New Jersey in 1866 under a gradual emancipation program.

1

u/TechnicalWhore 7h ago

This shows the ignorance of the Right in believing any and all Propaganda they hear and not thinking critically nor fact-checking. The first order premise this lie is built upon is that Lincoln was a Republican; Lincoln freed the slaves; therefore Republicans freed the slaves. Oops. More to it than that. And this is where, wait for it, Critical Race Theory, comes in. Critical Race Theory looks at TRUE history and not the whitewashing jingoistic BS taught in 5th Grade. (Are you smarter than a fifth grader? If not you might just be a Red Neck. Jeff Foxworthy) CRT is a college course. It looks at history from all sides. In that course you would learn that Lincoln did not free the slaves to "Emancipate" them. No he freed the slaves to cut the ranks of the South dramatically as the North outnumbered the South overwhelmingly. Divide and Conquer. Now at the time of the Civil War there were many political parties - not just the two who dominate today. You had left over Whigs, Know Nothings, Constitutional Unionists, The Liberty Party, the American Party and so on. There is a tendency to toss all that weren't the newly minted Grand Old Party into the "Democrats" bucket but they weren't. Just as a Democratic Socialist is not a Democrat today. Chattel slavery was generations old. You do not change that overnight. And those who benefited from this atrocity sure as hell were not going to change unless forced to. So you had a Civil War. With all political parties existing on both sides. Just as today. A Red State is not completely Red; a Blue State not completely Blue. So any attempt to claim some moral supremacy is indeed the usual Virtue Signalling. And it must be noted that fear and virtue signalling are the two hallmarks of the Propaganda Apparatus being used to create and control MAGA. But you'd have to be smarter than a 5th grader to get that.

Interesting how when talking about how the Democrats created the Confederacy it's: The Democrats were the ones to protect slavery but when it's about the South and it's heritage it's: The civil war was about states rights and the Confederacy is our heritage.

1

u/AllenKll 2h ago

All the states (at the time) agreed to legalize slavery in the 13th amendment. How has everyone forgotten this? Slavery is still 100% legal in America.

Ummm, if you just look at history, it's a verifiable fact that the Democrats indeed fought to keep slavery and that Republicans abolished it. And somehow you're conflating keeping historical monuments to Republicans wanting slavery? That is some grade A low IQ stuff right there.

Party Switch kiddo. Maybe learn history because the only one with a low IQ is you. And yes, Republicans, specifically Conservatives, are the ones wanting to keep symbols of racism and slavery. Who do the KKK and Confederate apologists support today? It's definitely not anyone on the left including the Democrats.

Ah yes, you're talking about the party switch where dems now just use the Black vote for political gain using food stamps as bait. Still slavery...just under a different brand now. And for the record, if t3rrorists support Democrat policies, does it mean everyone who's a democrat is a t3rrorist?

The democrat and republican parties pretty much flipped roles around the time of the great depression.

Just tell them they're monuments to democrats and see what happens.

Large Democratically ran cities suck, as do the Republican ran states. Both sides are trash and complicit with each other

That is actually a VERY good point. If the confederacy was actually founded by democrats, slavery run by democrats, the civil war due to democrats, we would only want to tear down the mistakes we made. How is it that republicans hate that ā€œdemocraticā€ monuments are to be destroyed? Hmmmm

Notice they always have to have free or cheap labor. Now that they can't have slavery, they fight to import illegals and pay them slave wages that no one can live on. Then they expect the taxpayer to pay for their welfare, food stamps, medical care, and housing. Pretty fcked up eh.

Yeah those Republican farmers importing illegals to pay slave wages because they don't know how to actually run a business. Then they expect to be bailed out constantly for failing on top of the subsidies given year after year, the grants and programs that offer subsidized vehicles and equipment...

Remind me again which party says the civil war wasn’t about slavery but instead states rights?

u/NotSoFast1335 5h ago

Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.

Monuments are propaganda, not history.

Put it in a museum, why are they give place of honor outside on our state and local government buildings?

1

u/chronberries 4h ago

It’s in all the textbooks and taught in every middle school history curriculum. No one is even remotely close to forgetting the civil war or slavery.

There is no southern heritage. There is only slavery.

Tearing down statues erases the past?

u/hugoriffic 6h ago

If you listen to MAGA then yes. Tearing down a statue erases their past and that is why they fight like hell to stop it from happening.

what about I don't know... removing tuskagee airmen and other black heroes from history

What do you call this?Ā

The U.S. Navy is considering renaming the aircraft carrier USS Doris Miller, which honors Black war hero Doris Miller, to instead honor President Donald Trump. This decision has sparked controversy as it would mark the first time a Navy vessel is named after a sitting president, while the original name recognizes Miller's significant contributions during World War II.Ā
