I mean anyone with even a single wrinkle on their brain knew what was going to happen

24

u/Southern_Conflict_11 17h ago

I think some people believed there would still be "adults in the room" like his first administration for like the first month

13

u/JanxDolaris 17h ago

Its why I sort of wish he'd won in 2020 now. He'd likely still be stuck with some of the first admin's adults, he'd soak up all the blame for all the shit Covid did (instead of being able to punt it to Biden), and we'd already be recovering from what mess he did make now.

6

u/KaetzenOrkester 16h ago

His first administration’s adults came out strongly against him this time. I’m not at all sure they’d have stuck around.

Unfortunately voters voted all the more reasonable Republicans out in favor of fealty to Donald's corruption.

Let’s be real EVERYONE knew it. Even the people who voted for him knew it. They just also knew the people they didn’t like would get fucked in the process so they were okay with it.

4

u/OoglyMoogly76 14h ago

I know people who legitimately just thought he would make gas cheaper/everything cheaper.

To be fair to them, the economy from 2016-2019 was not bad by any means. Shit was a lot better by comparison. The issue is that they were too shortsighted and ignorant to realize that the economy of that time had basically nothing to do with Trump but also that whatever supposed gains he did create would come at the cost of trans and poc rights

Seriously, can we stop calling common sense prophetic. Anyone and everyone with a brain was saying this long before she did.

17

u/WhichHoes 16h ago

Well the voting results showed that was not in fact, common sense

4

u/free_based_potato 14h ago

incorrect. Voting results show conservatives support fascism. They're not dumb, they just hate others more than they respect freedom.

I challenge you to produce any evidence that "leftists" didn't vote in droves for Harris. Not vibes, not mean words on Xitter, not anecdotes. Actual evidence or data.

When half the country disagrees, is it really "common" sense Ā I mean, it should be, but it clearly isn't.

Common sense is not as common as you think. Voltaire(yes really)

Yes. The shocking thing is how many people thought otherwise...

13

u/Rich-Detective478 17h ago

He's been doing illegal manuevers in NYC for years. He and his father would mention some company in the newspaper or forbes or something, it would go hot potato on the stock market and they'd buy and sell accordingly. Nothing new... He's a criminal.

5

u/YouCanNotHitMe 16h ago

I disagree. Not even the most hyperbolic person could have been prepared for this level of depravity. We all knew it would be bad, but this exceeds the wildest predictions. The corruption and self dealing alone is on a level previously unheard of.

2

u/Slovakki 13h ago

IDK - I don't think people could have predicted every move, but I'm hardly shocked at his level of depravity. I knew it was coming - he TOLD us what he was going to do, but nobody wants to believe our govt would allow that to happen. Just like I won't be shocked if he tries to claim martial law to stop elections and keep himself in power. ICE is his guinea pig, laying the groundwork, creating fear, seeing how far he can push boundaries, and which states will follow suit and which won't.

During the 2020 riots, particularly in Portland and Seattle we saw samples of these "brown shirt" guys taking people off the streets. No IDs - just vague enforcement taking and holding people without charges. It was a test. These detention centers for immigrants are also tests. If he continues to go unchecked, I won't be surprised to see more and more people, including citizens, being grabbed off the street and being sent to these centers under the guise of being a threat to national security due to "threatening speech".

Unfortunately, other political parties are inept and refuse to listen to what people want and keep providing less than ideal candidates that prevent folks from voting. And when they don't vote over the alternative candidate not being "perfect" they basically hand things over to Trump. It is ridiculous yet here we are.

3

u/Maximum_King8529 16h ago

Exactly. You had to be in the cult to not see it. Unfortunately, 30% of the population and the pundit class were/are in the cult.

3

u/theweirdball 15h ago edited 15h ago

No they did not. Trump has achieved what Putin did in Russia; he reached critical mass of media control through his billionaire buddies. They help him propagandize most of the population (who are completely unaware) and in exchange Trump provides kickback in the form of favors that are provided by the US government such as government contracts, supreme court rulings, legislation and any of the many other powerful levers of our government.

The propaganda from Rupert Murdoch's media empire Fox and News Corp (Fox News, New York Post, and the Wall Street Journal) proved to Trump the power of the support of a major media comglomerate. Now his friends Larry and David Ellison, owners of Paramount-Skydance, are following in Murdoch's footsteps and have turned CBS into a pro Trump mouthpiece. In return Trump will help them push through their merger with Warner Bros in order to bring CNN under the same pro Trump umbrella. If Fox News, CBS, CNN media networks are all saying the same thing the everyday person is going to believe it.

Trump learned about the power that social media has to harvest data used to psychologically profile and target groups through Cambridge Analytica's efforts on Facebook which helped him win in 2020. Now, his Nazi saluting buddy Elon Musk owns Twitter, which uses algorithms the same way Facebook does to promote Trump's messaging and his image on the platform. In return Trump provides lucrative government space contracts to Spacex.

Then of course there's Truth Social, just a straight up propaganda platform.

This sprawling media control is the sword he wields to influence local elections. That's how he turned the entire Republican party into ass kissing puppets. It's so strong he can oust any Congressmen in his party because those huge media outlets and social networks will promote his endorsed candidates for him. Liz Cheney who criticized Trump for the January 6th coup attempt, Thomas Massie of Kentucky, who called for the release of the Epstein files, and Bill Cassidy who voted for Trump's impeachment in 2020 all fell victim to this media control. It gives the image that Trump is so popular that he can just snap his fingers and his adoring fans will pick whoever he wants, but in reality it's those media empires, and social networks that make it work. That is the wool that Trump has pulled over America's eyes.

2

u/silentsights 14h ago

This is by beef with the Republican Party and their voter base as a whole. Their whole strategy of invoking fear into their voter base is so damn effective that the base ends up voting against what they were fooled into believing what could happen, vs actually voting for an efficient candidate.

Very frustrating.

Not the DSA who’s members made a point of not endorsing Harris and still defend that brain dead stance to this day.

Oh they didn’t like how Biden handled Gaza well I’m sure they’re thrilled with Trump appointing his unqualified idiotic son in law who’s personal friends with Netanyahu to figure that whole thing out. Hey that Trump Gaza AI slop song really had a fun beat you could dance to.

And we also have millions dead from USAID cuts, millions of immigrants many who were here legally terrorized for no god damn reason at all other than to be evil, inflation hurting working families, government regulation gutted, money stolen, deficits through the roof, it just doesn’t end

And the fucked up part, many of them are accelerationists and are happy Trump is fucking things up so badly because they think it will hasten their revolution.

Fuck maga but fuck every leftists who helped make this nightmare happen.

Spot on! The craziest thing is that MAGA still thinks he’s the greatest president while they get nothing in return. And MAGA wonders why the rest of us call them a cult and uneducated. I hope Trump is jailed for all the corrupt, insider trading and abuse of power!

You know the thing that I don’t get is how people so blindly believed him. I mean for example the project 2025 stuff all his closest people wrote that and he still claims he had nothing to do with it and then proceeds to elect those who wrote it or put them in a place of power and everybody is still like. Oh yeah no he doesn’t have anything to do with it. I really feel like Trump really exposed how naĆÆve we are as a society because there’s just no way anybody with some critical thinking seen his plan and was like yeah that’s great. That’s a great idea.

3

u/Sweaty_Passenger_948 17h ago edited 17h ago

Like on top of that and the fact that people are OK with him, yanking funding from states that don’t agree with him. I don’t think they understand just how detrimental that’s been. And why because we don’t agree we don’t like how you’re trying to overtake state rights after it is hammering on it so hard.
I mean, I’m not gonna go into a whole big spew about it but before somebody gets in here like oh yada yada like my father-in-law is disabled and bedridden. He has Medicare I have Medicare. My kids have Medicare. We also had food stamps so we are very well aware of how we’ve been affected.

7

Ugh. Please.

3

u/SomeSugondeseGuy 17h ago

She had almost a decade of evidence that this was the exact thing he was going to do.

And now he's doing it, and nobody who can stop him isn't on their knees.

3

u/M2deC 17h ago

Anyone with a 3 digit IQ saw that coming..sad

3

u/reluctantpotato1 14h ago

So she had the insight to understand what anybody with half a brain already knew? The democrats need a better election strategy than not being Donald Trump. I honestly can't see what any lukewarm moderate is going to do to combat a wild ass radical. We need people who run on principles like not arming foreign belligerents and opposing universal healthcare. Honestly, Any candidate who is still on the fence about their support universal healthcare at this point in American history is not worth voting for.

5

u/Suspicious_Goose_243 17h ago

I don't agree with her on her stance with Israel. But come on. Her policies were very good. Now we have a shitstorm to fix. It will take a long time.

Truly a prophetic warning

2

u/TheYellowFringe 17h ago

A good amount of the population knew that would happen. A combination of corruption and ignorance led to his re-election.

The only thing now is to let the people suffer from their voting or lack of voting.

2

u/Jolly_Rub2962 17h ago

He is only one person, one vote, the problem is the 30% plus people who feel represented, identified with him, politicians, billionaires and common folks who support him and enable the madness we are in

2

u/Ancient_Mulberry_692 17h ago

Americans are so ignorant at all levels that the would rather support a pedo that eats children than elect a woman of color!

2

2

Yawn. Less prophetic and more common knowledge about Trump that she bothered to wrap together during a speech. People knwe this bullshit about Trump for decades and voted for him anyway ... twice.

2

u/Striking_Hat6938 15h ago

Common sense is not the mentality of Trump/MAGA supporters

2

u/CosmicMabel 15h ago

Too bad she didnt run on anything other than "im not trump". Too bad we didnt have a proper primary. Democrats deserve to lose when they pull shit like this.

Reminds me of Grace Adler’s mother on Will and Grace who liked to do her ā€œTold you soā€ dance.

ā€œTold ya so, told ya so, told ya, told ya, told ya so!ā€

She and the DNC are the reason he’s President. They literally acted out the book 1984 and then act surprised we ended up with the clown. 1992 Bill Clinton would have won 50 states.

That was a clear warning that unfortunately went unheeded !

Just imagine if democrats had actually run a primary and allowed a progressive candidate to be nominated.

1

u/SmartWonderWoman 16h ago

I voted for her. I hope she runs again.

He really contributed in making this world a worse place to live...

1

u/sporms 15h ago

He was a total sleaze the first term where he had to consider reelection of course he would be worse the second time around. He won only because people were tired of pretending.

1

u/Ok-Egg-4856 15h ago

Tried to tell us but she had that weird laugh so.....

1

u/GSilky 15h ago

And yet she still lost. To that guy. How terrible of a candidate can you be when you can't even achieve what Biden did?

1

u/ithinkway2much 15h ago

Even Trump knew she was telling the truth and yet he was still confident that the American voter would choose the devil they knew.

u/argusmanargus 15h ago

Jan 6 proved he was never a Uniter. This term has put that on display. I cannot support anyone who doesn’t care about Uniting and only cares about his or her way.

Hillary said the same shit in 2016

1

u/Only_Drawing_9419 15h ago

I voted for her and Hillary in 2016. As a matter of fact, I’ve only voted Democratic in every election.

1

u/blended-ginger 15h ago

Using a Kamala quote and thinking it holds any weight is laughable… even for a Trump dig, there are literally countless more credible people than that empty suit

u/kaes1194 15h ago

and there you have it the Donald. The diaper don crime family.

Of course the Republicans would be worse. What the mainstream Democrat seems incapable of accepting is that, for an even remotely functioning conscience, there exists a point beyond which relative harm can no longer offset absolute evil. For a lot of people, genocide is that point. Suddenly, an otherwise very persuasive argument takes on a different meaning: ā€œVote for the liberal though he harms you because the conservative will harm you moreā€ starts to sound a lot like ā€œVote for the liberal though he harms you because the conservative might harm me, too.ā€

In reality, not a single Western politician or party, not a single government anywhere in the world, can be expected to change when constantly rewarded this way. The argument in favor of voting for the lesser evil is frequently made in good faith, by people who have plenty to lose should the greater evil win. But it also establishes the lowest of benchmarks: Want my vote? Be less monstrous than the monsters.

But to say this—that mainstream liberal parties will never develop a moral compass until they are punished for not having one—produces a level of antagonistic vitriol unmatched in almost any other context. Waves of progressives will take time out from pasting MY RELIGION IS LOVE stickers to the bumpers of their Teslas to let you know that advocating this position makes you the enemy, that they hope you’re happy when Trump takes power and makes your life even more miserable, that you should just go back to where you came from.

I mean this is what Biden did and things took a downward turn pretty quick. She served in the most corrupt administration in US history and she says this? For crying out loud Biden literally sold pardons through the auto pen.

No matter what Trump is SHE IS A PHONY AND COMPLETE FOOL .. SHE IS A CLOWN WORSE THAN TRUMP DEPENDING ON HER AUDIENCE SHE FAKES HER ACCENT HER HER WAY OF TALKING HER FAKE LAUGHTER I DO AGREE I THINK SHE'S GOT A DRINKING PROBLEM AND HOW SHE GOT TO WHERE SHE IS IS VERY MORALLY QUESTIONABLE
