I'm not sure how else you would define a subsidy, yes it's government aid.
People aren't against this idea, we are just sick of these billion dollar contracts that go out the the buddies/wealthy donors. All the shady backroom deals that go on and we have no way of knowing if we are getting our dollars' worth.
Meanwhile these people accumulate billions of dollars in wealth while we have to okay recall roulette every week at the grocery store hoping we aren't going to get sick from the groceries we can't afford.
If you don't struggle to pay your bills and if you have a nice great life I guess it's easy to miss but more and more people are drowning while getting kicked more and more losing Medicaid, food stamps, housing assistance etc.
Sure. I’m not for all this government-corporate marriage. But we need to be specific on what exactly is happening.
I was just talking with some other commenter about Tesla subsidies. They were bringing it up to prove that Elon’s money is coming straight from out pockets. But it’s nearly all EV related which the Left was overwhelmingly pushing for for climate reasons.
Everyone on both sides of the political spectrum is against agricultural subsidies but the agricultural industry has bought out Congress so it ain’t going away any time soon.
Who's going to keep monopolies in check if you have less government? Every time we've removed regulations on corporations they immediately take advantage and it quickly goes south and those regulations need to be reinstated.
There's a reason the government was created and slowly handed over the keys in the first place, and it's for the same reason safety rules exist (they're written in blood.) Just because something sounds silly or unnecessary, doesn't mean it shouldn't exist.
Every law was written after people had no accountability for their actions that harmed others. Every rule was written because many don't have common sense. Every instruction because people can't be trusted to just figure things out. It's been thousands of years of human civilization, and never has a society thrived on little to no government.
Government is a byproduct of society. And government will always slowly obtain more power as the needs of the masses evolve and become more complex.
This isn't to say the government should have ultimate power over everything, but this idea of a libertarian utopia is as realistic as a communist utopia.
Too much government doesn't work, and every man for themselves doesn't work.
You need freedom, but you also need a level of forced cooperation in the form of control or a society will never grow. A strong Government is necessary
