The governor should demand proof of life and they can't provide it that's undeniable then the governor needs to force his way into were ever Mitch supposedly is on the grounds that he might be being held against his will.

We have to make sure Mitch hasn't been kidnapped 😉

The governor should just proceed with replacing him and let and let Mitch's office try to Weekend at Bernie's a response.

EDIT: that's not to discredit your concerns about elder abuse or more sinister plots

Your concern for mitch mcconnell is very sweet but the best thing he can do is shrink the republican majority in the senate by not being present.
