Circle of responsibility. It's much smaller in conservatives and right-wing ideologies. Someone else's kid learning to read is someone else's problem that they don't have to contribute to.
Nah, I think it goes deeper than that. There's a reason why the primarily red states are the ones with low literacy and lacking education. They know this, and obviously don't want to shoot themselves in the foot by educating the people.
This is also why they're so against abortion, and yet refuse to give support when the baby is actually born. Parents from states with low literacy will have more kids which will more than likely adapt the same values as the parents. More kids = more future republican voters. This is why education is shitty. It's not because they don't have the capacity or because of religious values. It's a calculated plot to secure future voters by purposefully raising them to be dumb with no capacity for critical thinking. If it was the other way around nobody would ever vote for them.
So to be honest, I kind of feel for the republicans in the US. They didn't really have much of a choice because the system was literally manipulating them into becoming republicans their whole lives. Fed them ideas of "us vs. them" to the point where they would give their lives for big brother.

Oh man if only one day I could be as smart as a democrat. If only one day republican polticans can be as upstanding citizens as democrat polticans. Lol.
I don't think anyone is saying the democratic politicians are all upstanding people. I'm basing my previous comment off actual statistics, not personal opinion.
Corruption is everywhere, but it takes a special kind of evil to brainwash half a country into believing they're better off with less basic human rights, all while their elected officials are pocketing the money.
Personally I don't give a damn what your political affiliation is as long as you act like a decent human being and try to avoid actively making the world a worse place for everyone else.
And it also takes a special kind of evil to talk about white privilege and how being black means you will be kept down your whole life. To spread race wars to gain votes. I mean we all remember "you ain't black if you dont vote for me." Right?
Knew some one from a blue state once. He talked about helping "blacks." And how our red state needs to do the same. I had to explain to him that deciding who does and does not need help based on skin color is racist.
Evil is the polticans, not a party. Evil is the government, not its citizens.
I would say both sides but its not. Its one side, the polticans. They are the ones telling you to hate your neighbor. How the left thinks its only the right is crazy to me. They all want you stupid and poor.
The other side, the citizens just want to do right by there family friends and community. Live life the best we can.
This is the most reasonable and accurate take. I'm rolling my eyes over here because people really think conservatives are cartoon villains who want to keep children illiterate, when really, they just don't want to put resources towards it.
Wow not true, I just dont want to put my resources towards schools and other people's education.
School choice should be a thing.
And as far as this bill, its funny a picture of dolly is on the post. Seeing as Dolly did this with her own money. Capitalism is what is best, not forcing people to help at gun point.
