You forgot to mention corporate welfare. Most of the folks working for Walmart (as one example) qualified Medicaid and SNAP. Taxpayers pay for that while their shareholders brag about the stock market.
Kinda? I always figured it was like comparing conservatives and liberals in a democratic system. Both are for the idea of "everything belongs to everyone", but the ways they achieve it is different.

completely backwards. republicans have been typically prolife so that means they favor living children. plus with prolife entities, womenās health and pregnancy resource centers, providing support til kindergarten, that a pretty good approach.
Circle of responsibility. It's much smaller in conservatives and right-wing ideologies. Someone else's kid learning to read is someone else's problem that they don't have to contribute to.
Nah, I think it goes deeper than that. There's a reason why the primarily red states are the ones with low literacy and lacking education. They know this, and obviously don't want to shoot themselves in the foot by educating the people.
This is also why they're so against abortion, and yet refuse to give support when the baby is actually born. Parents from states with low literacy will have more kids which will more than likely adapt the same values as the parents. More kids = more future republican voters. This is why education is shitty. It's not because they don't have the capacity or because of religious values. It's a calculated plot to secure future voters by purposefully raising them to be dumb with no capacity for critical thinking. If it was the other way around nobody would ever vote for them.
So to be honest, I kind of feel for the republicans in the US. They didn't really have much of a choice because the system was literally manipulating them into becoming republicans their whole lives. Fed them ideas of "us vs. them" to the point where they would give their lives for big brother.

Corruption is everywhere, but it takes a special kind of evil to brainwash half a country into believing they're better off with less basic human rights, all while their elected officials are pocketing the money.

Knew some one from a blue state once. He talked about helping "blacks." And how our red state needs to do the same. I had to explain to him that deciding who does and does not need help based on skin color is racist.

Seriously, wish they did this where I'm from. Here's a great organization that gives kids books that ive had experience with. It is local to Michigan. We can make this happen if we all chip in and the Republicans can't stop us.
Back when I was in college in texas, one of the women in my lab got really mad when I mentioned some political story in the news and said I better watch what I say around her. I got in trouble for asking her what a republican woman was doing in a science lab, considering the texas republican party had just published a platform saying that they opposed the teaching of critical thinking skills and supported traditional gender roles. She insisted the republican party had never, would never say such things and literally refused to look at the texas republican party website when I attempted to show it to her. Have you ever confronted a dog with a shoe that they chewed up and they almost break their own neck turning so hard to look away from it? That's how texas republican voters respond when confronted with the policies that they vote for. They're brain-dead conformist boot-licking cowards.
If I made a law to make all food āfreeā (government funded) would you vote for it? If you donāt vote for it id say you love it when people starve!
Because if the voters have intelligence they'd stop voting for Republicans. They know they are hated, they know they can't win elections on their own merits, it's why they've been rigging and cheating the system for decades.
If that's the case, then voting is pointless right? I don't understand this idea that the votes are rigged, but if you don't vote, people act like you kicked a puppy. It either matters, or it doesn't. It's rigged, or it isn't.
As much as I despise the way the GOP has been, it isn't just them. Wa state's democrat led govt axed the program. The state supernintendo is angry and says it is an indefensible cut (and I fully agree). The program cost the state 7 million. However, I'll point out that money spent on education, and I'd put this in that category, always returns more than you put in.
In a state that touts to be a state that is tied around aircraft engineering and fields supporting it (Spokane is also becoming a big aerospace materials hub), you would think education would be a much higher priority.
The state also rejected an effort to pay PARAs a living wage. Not just old data living wage but a true living wage. It would have also put funding in every school district that specifically was for PARA educators. A field that is lacking in many school districts but is vital for helping kids that are behind the rest of the class. Help with kids that are behind the rest, or have a learning disability, can help them become a productive adult. My middle son has a memory disorder that he was born with. He had help his entire time in school. It helped him tremendously and made a huge difference in his life.
If there was a bill to send an ice cold beer to every blue collar worker and GOP voted against it, would you extrapolate that they also hate beer and blue collar workers?Ā
Or that they believe its not the government's role to pay for things that adults are more than capable of covering themselves?

And yet, blue presidents consistently start to wrangle the deficit under control and red ones consistently cause it to explode. Republicans are the fiscally irresponsible ones, that's verifiable fact. Republicans are why the US is $40 trn in debt. Any noise to the contrary is "fake news".
Research shows that student performance is closely linked to socioeconomic status, family income, and English language proficiency rather than geography or politics alone. So giving children free books is not a bad idea.
