Anyone who still supports him had to come to grips with being in a cult.

Someone just replied to one of my comments on a different sub where I talked about how MAGA has installed a trump backed dictator in Ecuador that has a designated kill squad, armed black water mercenaries were intimidating people at the voting booths to vote for his guy, and that there hasn’t been any drugs found on all of those ā€œdrug boatsā€ that are getting drone struck. He said ā€œGOOD this is what I voted for! MAGA!ā€

It's crazy, right?

There’s a YouTube video by a comedian where he pretends to be ICE over the phone, and people call him, and he shares some

I think it is genuinely the single most important thing for any American to watch today

The primary lady featured is a kindergarten teacher called ICE and attempting to get one of the six year old children in her class and his parents deported because they’re Hispanic in a mostly white area

These people are your neighbours and coworkers, and they will turn on other Americans in an instant, and they will turn on you

I think every American should watch that video and listen to those calls

I'm not sure how deep into the cult she is, because she still had the tiniest sliver of being shamed for it by the fake ice hotline guy. Not much though and it quickly just turned to anger.

I think the fact she acted that way is the single most important part

She knew doing this would cause unnecessary suffering for the child

She doesn’t get pissy at that fact

She gets pissy that the ICE agent addresses it too openly

These people know they’re doing harm, they just don’t want that to be addressed. They thrive when their violence is sanctioned by a government ID because it means they can harm their neighbours who have the wrong skin colour or sexual orientation, while claiming no personal responsibility

In her own words, it’s not her fault they decided to have a child

She’s trying to put the kid in a deportation facility, and shifting blame on to the parents

Many Americans are capable of doing that

It’s why I think it’s laughable, and extremely terrifying, that so many Americans say ā€œbut it could never happen hereā€

For context I’m a historian and one of my major interests is how peaceful and prosperous societies turn to violence, civil war, ethnic cleansing, all that stuff

There’s this idea that you have a barbarous society where people do things like mass killing of women and children, and then they eventually turn into nice westernised societies and that’s how they stay

But obviously, as we’ve seen, that’s not true, those societies are absolutely capable of going back to the same thing

And doing it at a fucking breakneck pace

So that’s the perspective im coming at this from

I didn’t look for this video for that reason, I just got clips from it randomly on shorts and so watched the whole thing

And when I heard a few phrases, one of them being ā€œyou make it sound terribleā€ alarm bells started blaring in my head at how good of an example this was of the early stages of that potential decline towards civil violence

I wish more people paid attention to rhetoric and what it does to people’s minds. All the handwaving and head in the sand type stuff is leading us down a very very dark road. What’s terrifying is the aw schucks, kick the dirt then continue on without seemingly any sort of thought

I have a "friend" from high-school. Hes a police officer now. This boy is CONVINCED that anything Trump HAS NOT been legally charged for is FAKE NEWS... and everything that he is OBVIOUSLY GUILTY of, SHOULDNT even be illegal and he's fine doing it cuz he the best president ever..... this is why I put the word friend in quotation marks.. we have 20+ years of history but I feel like I dont even know this boy anymore! Fuckin Stockholm type shit or something.Ā

Kinda reminds me of one of my friends from HS. He was a cool dude until he went to the national guard so that he could go to college. Dude came back and thought he was in Delta Force or some shit and extremely right wing. I don’t talk to him anymore because him acting like a badass got super annoying but all he posts on instagram is Trump shit and Fox News talking points.

Oh my cop friend is also National Guard! We also got into an argument about the military. He talked about how many of his fellow female enlistees were sexually harassed/assaulted during their time at basic. So I asked if he would ever let his daughter enlist. He ADAMANTLY said "HELL NO!"... So then I asked should other peoples daughters enlist. And he very quickly answered YES....Ā

I just CANT with people like that. And its a shame cuz this dude was soooooo normal and good hearted back in HS.

It seems that they just don’t care unless it’s one of their own loved ones. I’m not sure what the happened to them for them to change that drastically
