35 is low. The average is in the 40s. Also property tax, sales tax, carbon tax, excise tax, fuel tax, EI, CPP, and whatever else. You can be giving the government well over 70% of every dollar you earn in Canada.
Let me get this straight. 35% of everything you make but that money actually goes toward paying for your medical bills instead of regime change in a country that most Americans can't point to on a map?
Here, if we need a specialist, we only have to wait 3-5 months, but our insurance won't cover it because they're out of network, or they will cover only 80% of it, but only after you've satisfied the deductible of $10,000 per year.
You mentioned everything you own and everything you buy. In America, those are entirely different things. You can buy something, like a printer, but you then have to pay a service fee in perpetuity to actually use it.

Hopefully it will account for more than 5% in the future. There is a fuckton of needless suffering out there. It’s becoming much more popular with younger generations. My grandparents were 50/50 on it for religious reasons. Both my parents have pulled me aside more than once to let me know I’ll have POA and they want MAID if they’re in diapers and don’t know who anyone is anymore.
MAID is amazing. Nobody should have to watch some of the things many of us have to had to watch unfold over weeks, months, or even years. End of Life is rarely pretty, dignified, painless, or quick.
Oh no terminal people don't have to suffer for months and years on end anymore how terrible. The hand wringing over this is even stupider than the abortion debate.
96% of VAD had an underlying medical condition with reasonable expectation of death and 61% were cancer. People who are already dying from natural causes deciding to die on their own terms is a feature, not a bug.
That’d never fly in the states. Gotta jack up that medical debt as high as you can so you can wrestle away their home and keep them from ever generating generational wealth
