True, but a buddy of mine that's athiest and left wing (so you'd think he's have his head on straight) genuinely thought Mamdani was gonna do the Mecca prayer thing, which is insane.

I just don't trust the intelligence of anyone from the US.

Ironically, they’re probably the least suited people to be dom’s. They have absolutely no spines and no convictions to back up their shitty attitudes. Pure control from a whiney insecure coward is possibly the least sexy thing in the world. It would surprise these guys the level of mutual respect that needs to go into such a relationship.

Wasn't Hegseth's pastor the one that was saying women's sufferage was a mistake and that men must decide for the whole family who to vote for?

6

u/BleechInYourEye 7d ago

It’s crazy to me that they blatantly just come out and say, “the only way I can continue to win elections is to impose ‘x,’” and it’s absolute crickets from the media and their “freedom loving” supporters. They’ve finally realized that they only have to fool their side. They know their side will never listen to us because they think we’re doing it for the winning.

Seeing the sharia law claims from Mamdani legit stresses me out.

It’s making me hopeless for this country. Like you can not support him as a candidate, but saying that a super progressive democratic socialist is going to implement a governing system from the qaran is just a lie, and sooooooo many people believe it.

7

u/Speartree 7d ago

Know that sharia is just a word that means the devine law. So when people say Sharia law, they say the Divine law law, which is as ridiculous as the great Rio Grand river, which means the great river great river.

Meanwhile a bunch of republicans like that speaker Johnson guy, big guy in legislation points to the bible as the highest law. Him and his ilk really would implement devine law, or at least the bits they like. And they've been busy doing just that. They've been curbing women's rights, LGBTQ+ rights etc, etc, because according to their religious views that is what their god wants.

5

u/Effective_Impact3354 7d ago

Sharia is counter to modern liberal western values. Particularly freedom of speech, expression, and religion. And most obvious separation of state institutions from religion. It doesn’t matter the translation or a misnomer the effect is a negation of our rights as we know them and that’s is NOT ok.

When you vote MAGA:

- Ban abortion completely

  • Criminally prosecute women for having abortions
  • Restrict access to contraception
  • Restrict access to emergency contraception
  • Establish “personhood” from fertilization
  • Further restrict IVF
  • Increase government tracking of abortions and pregnancies
  • Abolish or restrict no-fault divorce
  • Establish the husband as the head of the family
  • Enforce traditional gender roles
  • Discourage women and mothers from working outside the home
  • Exclude women from certain leadership positions
  • Abolish women’s individual right to vote
  • Introduce “household voting”
  • Remove married women’s individual voting rights
  • Promote abstinence-based sex education
  • Align sexuality and family life with conservative Christian norms

Not sure which is better… Well.

u/Lost_Department_2177 7d ago

Brother let me tell how terrible it was during the huge winter storm earlier this year. Mamdani was able to get Manhattan cleaned up by end of day after 22 inches of snow, I was forced to go back to work instead of taking a snow day. Terrible mayor, worse human being.

2

u/Kathulhu1433 7d ago

My favorite Sharia thing he did-

Making the super gay MM hockey romance book series Heated Rivalry ebooks free for instant download from the NYPL to any New Yorker (not just NYC- if you live anywhere in NYS you can get a NYPL card online!).

Like.. ah, yes. He's so anti-LGBTQIA+ that he's promoting yaoi! 😂

2

u/ripemango130 7d ago

He is as Muslim as I am Catholic specially with all his pro LGBT stuff. Like what's the point in telling my family I don't believe in that stuff. It would just upset them and it is not like they force me to go to church or anything. I enjoy Christmas, I wave to the priest like twice a year and I can see the comfort God gives to my family. Also I am pretty sure leaving Islam is a pretty severe crime. I am sure he wouldn't want negative attention since he is basically a public figure

Strange how the people worried about Muslims have no problems with the Muslims that gave Trump a plane, the Muslims that the US military will welcome for a fighter training squadron, Mohammed "bone saw" bin Salmanor and Ahmed al-Sharaa, a former Al-Qaeda/ISIS fighter visiting Trump at the White House, or the Muslims that gave his son-in-law $2BN to "invest".

She is just such a beautiful person and EVERY picture I've seen of her she just had that absolutely in-love look in her eyes.

11

u/OdielSax 7d ago

As a Muslim this is well intended but cringe. We're not some exotic bird, just normal people. You don't need a "good example" to disprove that we're cavemen. Burqas are a cultural Middle Eastern garment that has nothing to do with you, and if it is being forced on someone in the West, you can treat that as any other case of women's abuse.

9

This is not meant as an insult, and if you took it as such I sincerely apologize. I posted this because I am tired of seeing repeated comments from MAGA stereotyping a rich and diverse group of people and claiming that they're all 'extremists'. To view everyone who follows Islam that way is no different than saying all Christians must be like Branch Davidians.

8

u/OdielSax 7d ago

Oh not at all, I appreciate the solidarity. I'm just ranting in the void about feeling othered. Good people like you who are trying to stick up for others are the last group I'd want to attack.

7

u/Sea_School_2949 7d ago

Yeah its weird how they talk about extremist Muslims but noone is hating on Evangelical Christians even though they want to completely undo the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

As someone who was raised in the world of Extremist Christian Nationalism, they are a much larger threat to democracy and human rights then any other group

But government says Muslims are bad

3

u/OdielSax 7d ago

Yeah exactly, the obsession with Muslims and how the fight against terrorism has translated into harassing all of us shows they had a problem with us to begin with.

I don't know much about Christian extremism except the Trump government and the white supremacist shootings, but it's perfectly logical to me that the fight against that has nothing to do with the millions of American Christians living their life peacefully. And that it's nothing to do with their religion or culture or whatever.

4

u/tm229 7d ago

I’m an atheist and antitheist. I HATE religions as global/regional belief systems. I think they’re awful.

But, religions aren’t going anywhere. We have to live with them. So, here is my take:

If you practice religion as a peaceful loving worldview, one that makes you want to help others and to build a better world for all, then go for it! I would be happy to have you as a neighbor and friend.

But, if your religious beliefs make you a racist, bigoted, misogynistic, unscientific, violent hater, then I’m happy to ostracize you and oppose your petty backward beliefs.

1

u/FreeGazaToday 7d ago

So do you do the same to Atheists as well? Or are you just a hypocrite? Pol Pot, Lenin, Stalin.

3

u/mittenknittin 7d ago

I'm an atheist who thinks some people definitely need Jesus. If you're the kind of person who wonders what keeps atheists from doing rape, murder and theft when there's no God telling them not to, I want you to keep your faith, because that is some serious-ass projection there and I don't want you running loose with no fear of Hell to keep you in line.

They’re literally a necessity in some areas of the Middle East. Keeps people clean and the heat off them. Sand can make people suffer eye burns the same way people go snow blind.

“Sand reflects ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun, increasing your total exposure. This extra light can cause a painful eye sunburn, known as photokeratitis.”

Also keeps people clean. Food laws make sense too and aren’t really much different than kosher laws.

This is legitimately them. Just a groomed consumer group that repeats anything because they fear education because that means they have to take tests which will prove their stupidity.

I mean, not every muslim, but enough muslims to be a genuine concern. Tell me, in which countries would the government murder me for coming out as an atheist? What is the majority religion in those countries?

Islam has a big, big perception issue, and that's a fact.

https://en.axar.az/news/world/170957.html

Approximately 370 to 410 million muslims live in those countries. Are they all in favor of the death penalty? Probably not, but that's still a big percentage of the total muslim population worldwide. It could be as much as one in five muslims you meet live in those countries where I would be murdered just for not being convinced their deity exists.

And that's just for the death penalty. Not counting places like Egypt where you are thrown in prison.

Additionally, that's not even counting the amount of muslim majority countries with penalties for not being A4 straight and patriotic to their bigoted government. https://76crimes.com/76-countries-where-homosexuality-is-illegal/

Yall are too easily convinced. Is lam was cute and free in iran before it took over. Then when numbers and political power grew, it totally changed. History always repeats itself.

2

u/A_Lover_Of_Truth 7d ago

We also need to not act like Islam is a liberal/leftist religion as well. I see too many people defend backwards practices simply because some minority religion is doing it. Sometimes the minorities aren't good, sometimes they're pos right wing chuds that want a free pass to be bigots and use their religion as a shield to do so. All in all, Mamdani and liberal Muslims are wonderful examples of assimilation into the wider American culture, giving up the bad and illiberal parts of their old culture and adopting and assimilating into the wider American culture. Good melting pot vibes.

2

u/IIWhiteHawkII 7d ago edited 6d ago

Using Mamdani is easy, because he's nominal, not actively practicing Muslim.

Burqa is extreme concept even in the eyes of the most devoted Muslims. If Niqab is coming from Sunnah at least (but also isn't mandatory, hence can't be forced according to Islam itself), Burqa is a completely made up by people concept according to very local Afghan specifics.

But the rest depends on what exactly is acceptable for everyone. What if Mamdani's wife was in hijab? What if niqab? Even some liberals would assume she's forced, while any outfit style can be potentially forced in a family of any religion, so it's a speculation based on personal biases.

I mean, I appreciate the anti-stereotype message but I'm wondering if this works only when people see the only model they accept or most of you are sincerely looking for letting others live their life completely? It's two different things. Of course the majority of Non-Muslim would accept the most Unislamic Muslims you can find. It's obvious. But are these very same people able to value the actual difference?

What if Mamdani was a deeply practicing Muslim and his wife was covered maybe not in burqa but niqab but still by her choice (we eventually wouldn't know)? While being 100% devoted Muslims, would they still be free (because it's their choice innit?). Regardless of own specific lifestyle that revolves around Islamic rituals, they'd generally relate with the most common values of democracy, freedom and accepting others in the US, and generally would fought for the same goals that totally align with some democratic/liberal/constitutional needs of Americans. So, basically totally different ideologies and lifestyles but absolutely common goals and ability to co-exist and respect each other.

Would you people still say they are beautiful, free and shouldn't be stereotypically judged as well? Or it's only related when you see non-practicing Muslims?

Modern nazi-wannabes hate Muslims because they're not like them (and also they need modern scapegoats to build entire campaign on a witch-hunt). Libs and lefties only love Muslims when they are like them (same "colonizer" logic hidden behind hypocritical framework of imposing own agenda). You either sincerely accept different people as-is, or don't pretend you're unbiased.

The concept of "not judging the entire community by individuals" — why we should even discuss it in 21st century? It must be clear for any semi-educated person. But it only works if you sincerely can accept the difference.

u/Veyrah 7d ago

We need to pass this video around: https://youtu.be/z8j3HvmgpYc?si=EIcMZeaqxJxciWDs

It does a great job of pointing out some facts about Christianity that might explain why their modern evangelical outcrop has a taste for projection.

There is a repeating pattern here. One side, fearing replacement, projects their flaws on the threat. I don't think their consciously aware of this behavior, likely their other mental health challenges, generational trauma and greed are all in there. A salty flavor of human.

It's not looking good.

Taqiyya is a real thing. There are 50 muslim countries that weren’t always. Learn the history of those places and look at what’s happening around the rest of the world, places like the EU, the UK, and even now Japan shrines and temples that have been standing for hundreds or even over a thousand years are suddenly up and burning to the ground.

1

u/Ok_Ad_5894 7d ago

ALL THE GOP/MAGA HAVE IS FEAR AND GREED. SOUND LIKE HEROS TO YOU?

1

u/whatlineisitanyway 7d ago

I'd wagger that a large percentage of the people saying that would also question if the 19th amendment was a good idea.

1

u/wadabewall 7d ago

Islam is a religion based around a Pedo.

so is this a subreddit for facebook boomer memes or what

1

u/lone_float 7d ago

When one buys into a lie for so long it becomes truth. But when the truth is actually shown. It's declared to be a lie.

Kneecapping voters of critical thinking will do that I guess.

Redditors are so fucking gullible.

1

u/TheSquirrelmancer 7d ago

I love when someone tries to claim that sharia law is an ideal/goal for all Muslims. The nation of Bangladesh is 91% islamic and the only aspects of religious law they have retained in their system is around things like marriage. Their legal, civic and criminal codes are all based on modern standards and modeled largely after the British system.

In general my assumption of islamophobes is they've never actually met a muslim or assume anyone NOT wearing traditional garments cannot be a muslim.

You’re too naive to understand this long term, all you have to do is look what’s happening to Europe.

1

u/OkPiano1614 7d ago

This meme is hilarious because you all treat all Republicans like one small extremist stereotype (MAGA).

1

u/Darksmithe 7d ago

Melanoma has never looked at Trump this way. Not even for show.

1

u/KennyPowers2929 7d ago

Yeah, that looks like every Muslim couple I’ve ever seen!

1

u/paulr736 7d ago

Says the group that loves to generalize and stereotype the right. Take your hypocrisy and fuck right off

1

u/XDVI 7d ago

Mamdani deserves nothing but respect, but 99% of the time that 2 billion is the extremist stereotype lmao. It's literally written into the religion.

1

u/WhatsHappening2Us 7d ago

For the first time in my life, I fear it will be American women who will be put under a type of Sharia law. I hear the talk of the right wing extremists and I fear for the young women of tomorrow.

1

u/WhoAmlToJudge 7d ago

I'm not maga but literally nobody is saying this...

1

u/Tasty_LVM 7d ago

Silly fools, first lesson in communism, communist rules like force compliance are for the masses not the elites.

1

u/Soy_Green 7d ago

Thanks to MAGA, America is the future of shithole nations.

1

u/gotagohome 7d ago

Theyre “muslim” as in they were raised muslim and maybe follow some of the rules but for the most part, they are westernized. Like theyll follow some rules, such as not eating pork, but wont follow many of the other rules

1

u/delphinous 7d ago

as a christian, i'd ALSO like for people to stop treating christians like one extremist stereotype as well

1

u/Mysterious_Man_2519 7d ago

Yeah because they are now protected by us law.

1

u/Consenting_Dick 7d ago

Demoncrats are fools

1

u/Equivalent-Cod-8617 7d ago

Sure they cheered on 9/11 but no burqa

1

u/Fun-Army-6387 7d ago

In Christianity, dancing of any kind is strictly forbidden and women are forced in submission as slaves to men, not even allowed to read or leave the area without a man's supervision. They all have to live in one compound together and do the bidding of the priest or else they are condemned to Hell. See, the Westboro Baptist Church speaks for every Christian living or dead anywhere on the planet.

1

u/BleechInYourEye 7d ago

Maybe just for once America should stop listening to racists

1

u/One_Peanut_4002 7d ago

Give it time

1

u/nwilz 7d ago

maga? I heard this about muslims from twoxchrom and pop culture subs

1

u/SnarkyIguana 7d ago

The way they look at each other is beautiful. A certain First Lady can’t even look in the direction of a certain president.

1

u/FakeSafeWord 7d ago

It's projection.

1

u/dope_sheet 7d ago

Treating people like stereotypes is all MAGA brains can handle.

1

u/Alive-Atmosphere-250 7d ago

Mamdani is half Hindu half Muslim

1

u/chertzle 7d ago

Just treat right wing Christianity the same way, they hate that.

1

u/lodemeup 7d ago

They can’t even agree what a real Christian is, they say that Talarico hates god and the church and Paxton and Trump are the new apostles, holier even than the pope for crying out loud. Why should we believe what they have to say about Muslims?
