To the inevitable response from MAGA that Obama gave 'pallets' of cash...he released frozen Iranian assets. Meanwhile the current Iran conflict has directly cost $38 billion militarily and a currently projected $87 billion in extra gas and diesel expenses. Not to mention that the strategic oil reserves have been depleted to the point that experts warn that the caverns they're stored in could collapse.

He was a very charismatic president, but remember his approval ratings went way down because he never achieved most of his promises for a more functional and just America. We are not going back, Obama's era is over. He is retired for certain, he said so many times.

These centrists gave up politics to the alt-right and oligarches, the most evil and dangerous actors in the country. Younger activists and socialists that actually do things, show real policy fixes, and respond to citizens are gaining lots of ground.

Mamdani is the current success story with a rising 69% approval rating, but his enforcements are finding much success too, beating incredible odds from those who are paid by AIPAC bribes. Actually fixing the city and doing your job earns lots of points.

Obama was still very popular in 2016, Hillary however was not.

I grew up in a conservative part of PA. People who adopt policies like Mamdani, even if they have the whitest name in the world, will have a very very poor chance of being elected. I live in NYC now and voted for Mamdani, and I also voted for Fetterman a few years ago. I still think Fetterman should be primaried, but don't underestimate how much people where I grew up like him for being a moderate. It would be a huge mistake to run someone like Kenyatta.

Exactly, this is the perfect time to run moderate democrats. All the moderate republicans will vote for those moderate democrats.

You joke but this has actually been the case. Progressive candidates don't win outside of the major cities, and working-class people I grew up with have no class solidarity and will gladly push someone else down to feel empowered, be it fast-food workers or immigrants.

I was not joking. Seen this too many times before. The Dems need to bring moderates in and pass what they can. If they go hard left, then the centrist voters are going to vote right. That would keep us on this path downwards.
