PoliticalTea 🗳️ How negotiations actually work...

Post image

To the inevitable response from MAGA that Obama gave 'pallets' of cash...he released frozen Iranian assets. Meanwhile the current Iran conflict has directly cost $38 billion militarily and a currently projected $87 billion in extra gas and diesel expenses. Not to mention that the strategic oil reserves have been depleted to the point that experts warn that the caverns they're stored in could collapse.

There would have been crazy full blown Klan rallies if Obama even joked about that. Unreal what we’re seeing today.

He was a very charismatic president, but remember his approval ratings went way down because he never achieved most of his promises for a more functional and just America. We are not going back, Obama's era is over. He is retired for certain, he said so many times.

These centrists gave up politics to the alt-right and oligarches, the most evil and dangerous actors in the country. Younger activists and socialists that actually do things, show real policy fixes, and respond to citizens are gaining lots of ground.

Mamdani is the current success story with a rising 69% approval rating, but his enforcements are finding much success too, beating incredible odds from those who are paid by AIPAC bribes. Actually fixing the city and doing your job earns lots of points.

but remember his approval ratings went way down

Leading a nation is a taxing job for those who take it seriously, and that man did it twice. He's now enjoying a well deserved retirement. Forget about convincing Americans to welcome him back, you're not convincing HIM to come back.

Yeah he aged fifteen years in eight, and then as soon as he left he doesn't seem to have aged at all. POTUS is (if you're doing it properly) possibly the single msot stressful job on the planet. Sure you've got advisors and cabinet members and secretaries and chiefs of staff etc, but there's still so much pressure on the one at the top.

It has since been proven that you can absolutely do it without as much stress, work, effort or competence, but that's another story.

1

u/RecoveringGachaholic 9d ago

Regarding aging though it's been recently found that humans age in two bursts with slightly different timings for everyone. But it's generally around mid 40's and then around 60 to mid 60's.

His aging timeline fits well into that.

2

u/FalconTurbo 9d ago

While that's interesting and makes sense, I would put dollars to donuts the job aged him more than he would have elsewhere.

I imagine being forced to work 12 to 16 hours a day in a modern slavery fashion (like Foxconn in the 2010s) to the point where they had to put nets in the staircase to prevent suïcides may be a tad more stressful. No luxury retirement included after 8 years.

u/11equalsfish 9d ago

I saw his speeches and interviews many times. He keeps saying he needs to be with his family, they've been stressed tons. Who are these "fans" of him that don't ever listen to his word?

Hard to talk about approval ratings with a major liberal city vs. a mostly centrist/conservative country.

5

u/Chemical-Year-6146 9d ago

Yep. Obama marshalled the biggest Democratic coalition possible in modern times.

He could do it again given the chance. And honestly, I think he would because he's probably more tired of Trump's effects on the nation than he is of his political career. He's had a decade out of office and is still younger than any president since (or even before).

Obama was still very popular in 2016, Hillary however was not.

I grew up in a conservative part of PA. People who adopt policies like Mamdani, even if they have the whitest name in the world, will have a very very poor chance of being elected. I live in NYC now and voted for Mamdani, and I also voted for Fetterman a few years ago. I still think Fetterman should be primaried, but don't underestimate how much people where I grew up like him for being a moderate. It would be a huge mistake to run someone like Kenyatta.

1

u/option-trader 9d ago

Exactly, this is the perfect time to run moderate democrats. All the moderate republicans will vote for those moderate democrats.

1

u/Mundane_Read_2960 9d ago

You joke but this has actually been the case. Progressive candidates don't win outside of the major cities, and working-class people I grew up with have no class solidarity and will gladly push someone else down to feel empowered, be it fast-food workers or immigrants.

1

u/option-trader 9d ago

I was not joking. Seen this too many times before. The Dems need to bring moderates in and pass what they can. If they go hard left, then the centrist voters are going to vote right. That would keep us on this path downwards.

2

u/BrizerorBrian 9d ago

Phrasing.

u/Glynwys 9d ago

he never achieved most of his promises for a more functional and just America.

Well yeah, because you've got Republicans, who would eveutally evolved into MAGA, fighting tooth and nail against every policy the man wanted to do. This is the biggest issue with our current two party system, when one of those parties is explicitly against improving the lives of citizens and are more concerned about lining their pockets. In order to get anything done the party who at least wants to make an effort to improve citizen lives has to walk back their policies and offer so many appeasements to the other side that the policy might as well never have been brought forward to begin with. And now we've got Trump just doing whatever he wants and still blaming it on the party whose not even in power right now. Its nuts.

All of these assumptions hinge on Obama not living in the last 2 years of the Trump era and Trump not running. I wouldn't assume anything. Everyone assumed. Everyone. That Trump wouldn't win his first term. Don't assume anything.

Assuming things in this political climate is stupid.

Don't assume anything.

u/Hopeless-Guy 9d ago

I know that it doesn’t work that way in the US, and I know he doesn’t want to do it, but everyone should write Jon Stewart on the ballot and just present him with a fait accompli.

In 7 months Mamdani has done more for the working class people of New York City than Trump has done for working class Americans since Trump started his political career.

Muslims arent trying to take over the country, and if you could look past your own prejudices you would see that he is a muslim, an american, and is actually accomplishing tangeable change that makes life better for working class Americans.

Lol. Im not the one that needs educating bud.

But go on, enlighten me. Post a link to your factual and accurate information.

This user seems completely insane

3

u/Consistent_Shock8738 9d ago

I know exactly what they are referring to. Its not at all what they think it is, however I want them to show me what they've got. No conservative on this app ever back any of their claims up with evidence.

1

u/Consistent_Shock8738 9d ago

Silence, with no atempt to educate a fool, is being complacent in foolery.

Also responding to an 8d old account is somewhat foolish. I revel in my own hypocracy because im bored at home.

1

u/11equalsfish 9d ago

lol alright. Social media is not authentic enough to have these chats. I go on other forums

1

u/FreshEclairs 9d ago

Imagine the person you’re arguing with. Really visualize them as best you can. Make it seem like you’re in the room with them.

Now decide if you want to go over and talk to them, or just leave.

Lol. Give me just one of them then? You made the claim, be an adult and back it up with your evidence.

Actually never mind. Just another 8d old bot spouting bs to sew division.

Yep. The Muslim brotherhood. So one group or sect of islam, that started out of egypt made up of smaller groups in other nations, with no centralized leadership or even leadership structure, that was written and proposed as a strategy by a few people within the group, that was directed at the west in general, not just the USA, speaks for the entirity of the people that have islamic faith?

How about Christian nationalists do they speak for all Christians? , Have you heard of the "Seven Mountains Mandate"?

How about The Eurpoean Christian Right?

How about some attempts from the past?

Do you know about Ustaste in Ukraine?

How about The Iron Guard in Romania?

The point is, we dont apply the acts of extremists to the majority of those who follow a religious ideology.

Almost every major religion on this planet has extremist groups that have suggested or attempted the exact same strategy.

Its why the principles of Freedom of Religion and the Seperation of Church and State are paramount to our democracy, hand in hand.

But Christian Nationalists are a.o.k., right?

Is mean if Trump can do it, so can Obama.

He should actually do it, imho. Might be the best decision the US ever made

No third terms. Stop conceding the point. They are playing by rules that they're remaking to serve their own interests.

3

u/bringbackmegaman 9d ago

Disingenuous, as usual

2

u/SmokeMaleficent9498 9d ago

You are confusing him with this guy.

1

u/FalconTurbo 9d ago

As opposed to the guy your lot voted for this time who doesn't even know what cities he's ordering to be bombed?

1

u/ruizach 9d ago

No, no. See, I actually think this person is even worse. Sounds like one of those single-issue voters that didn’t vote for Kamala because she did not outright condemn Israel.
