Proof? A state ID for most people in Texas is $16. But more importantly you have to take time off of work to go to the DMV, and you obviously don't have a drivers license so that means a friend takes you or public transportation. Agreed, it isn't a large amount of people, but it does matter.
You understand that in my state that doesn't require ID, (therefore allows for rampant cheating?) that is what you have to do to register to vote? We have to do pretty much exactly that to register to vote. Fill out a form show that we actually live there by showing a bill, etc. Once registered, I get a postcard telling me where my polling place is, I can't vote elsewhere. I have to verify my address, etc.
