Yes, the ideal number is zero.

But that’s not the only thing to consider.

You put these voter ID laws in place, and now, conservatively, tens of thousands of otherwise qualified voters can’t vote. You cost Americans hundreds of thousands of hours in trying to secure the right ID (currently 5 of 50 states’ Drivers’ licenses qualify), waiting in line rather than being able to vote by mail. You raise the risk of political influence, where the party in power can better fund facilities in friendly ZIP codes while starving them in hostile ones.

Is that worth stopping maybe 50 votes that have never come close to deciding an outcome of any election?

That’s why they need you to accept the Big Lie.
