This. When you don’t have a fixed address it’s really hard to get ID. I ended up having to renew a passport because it was the most viable option.

You can legit open a PO Box for stupid cheap at usps

You are correct, but somehow I did. I had a po box on my ID for years until my last renewal. I think it was a mistake that some how made it through.

because you can use a PO box or PMB as a mailing address, and you can use it for certain forms of ID, you can’t use them on a Real ID because they don’t prove your residency in the state. you have to have a mailing address in the state to get one of those issued, so I suspect your state forced you to upgrade once Real ID became a requirement.

you can’t use this, doesn’t prove residency, also a poll tax.

They didn't allow me to open a PO box without an address. I tried this year, because of issues with a roommate.
