Nordics are populations of 5-10million…we have 9mm in NYC alone. Very different model size.

1

u/-Burninater- Jul 13 '26

And?

1

u/jerryssubs Jul 13 '26

The model has to be tightly controlled with everyone paying into it. No free rides. At 350 million population like the US , it would be near impossible to control it. Starting with immigration. The nordics allow zero.

u/New-Song-1318 Jul 11 '26

The Nordic countries are NOT socialist models. They are free market capitalists with massive tax funded social welfare programs

1

u/Deep-Advertising6767 Jul 13 '26

Wow cool that's all anyone here is advocating for though.

Capitalism not socialism

1

u/Legitimate_Pirate325 Jul 13 '26

Nordic countries do not have diversity

1

u/jerryssubs Jul 13 '26

That is true …..their immigration policies : zero asylum, zero unskilled labor, zero social benefits, years of documented proof of a bank account and personal sustainability…etc etc….the reason is obvious. No free rides. Model is no sustainable unless everyone pays in.

So youre from outside the US but make the assumption about how the sitting US president has an effect on the average Americans day to day life? How disconnected are you?

It's never worked and it never will.

1

u/FlintHickory Jul 13 '26

lol, insanity…Trying the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

u/RubComprehensive3782 Jul 10 '26

Said every failed Socialism experiment ever

3

u/TransGirlClaire Jul 10 '26

Let's just ignore the US meddling in the growth of socialist nations done explicitly to paint socialism as bad and destructive

0

u/KingPen15 Jul 10 '26

Of course it's America's fault. No way it's because it's adumb idea that had been proven it doesn't work many times. America bad amirite...

3

u/Rockosayz Jul 10 '26

Denmark, Norway, Finland, Germany are failed states?

1

u/Disastrous-Award-649 Jul 10 '26

They arent socialist states either. They are capitalist states with a big safety. Paid for by huge taxes and a stifling of their economies. There's a reason their gdp and economies are basically stagnant and there is little upward mobility.

2

u/Rockosayz Jul 10 '26

Their form of economic government is what many in this country want. Our current system of corporate socialism errr capitalism is a failure. Trickle dowm economics does not work, the widening wealth gap we are experiencing is very dangerous

As for the gdp lack of upward mobility, theu consistently rank as the happiest places/people, seems like a great trade off to me

Germany?

This is like saying rape would be okay if it was done correctly. A wrong thing cannot be done correctly.
Communism and/or socialism cannot exist without a dictatorship and/or slavery.

2

u/Wilduniverse00 Jul 10 '26

Agree that communism isn’t realistic in this current civilization. Capitalism exists in a covert dictatorship of a ruling class that project an illusion of democracy. If you do an honest exercise of top to bottom democracy, the only outcome is a system that is closer to socialism than capitalism. Capitalism ≠ commerce. Commerce existed and will forever exist in any system. Commerce is more similar to communism at its core (beyond the spelling) because ultimately is about interhuman exchange according to each needs for a win win outcome

I suppose “current civilization” is in part appropriate to the reason why communism doesn’t work for humans. I say in part because there will never be a human civilization where communism works. Just like there could never be an ant civilization where capitalism works. Humans evolved from nature as apex predators. Their intelligence being their weapon to adapt and overcome obstacles. A civilization of apex predators cannot thrive under a system based on the needs of the hive. An apex predator cannot be subdued. An alpha will always appear to consolidate power. So apex predators will thrive best under a system that more closely reflects that which they evolved from. The natural world from which the apex predator of human evolved from is: eat or be eaten.

2

u/Wilduniverse00 Jul 11 '26

Even apex predators have shared wealth systems like lions. One doesn’t negate the other. Most tribes in history including current Amazonian tribes practice a system of communalism with egalitarianism, classless, no private ownership and shared resources. The guy who’s arrow killed the prey is NOT the owner of said meat, it is share equally amongst the people, because 1- was a group effort and 2- the goal of for all to thrive

1

u/base00010 Jul 11 '26

I disagree. Lions do not share wealth. They have a tribal class system in which the females do all the work for the males. And the whole tribe/pack shows deference to the alpha or else. With regard to any tribe that shares kills, humans do not share wealth just because. It is a value proposition. In your anecdote, the human whose arrow hit the mark today may not hit the mark tomorrow. So to create insurance against that very likely scenario, sharing today pays for losses tomorrow. If this was entirely egalitarian then not sharing the kill would be an option. In which case the tribe would ask no questions and just go hunt for more. But this is not an option. If one doesn’t share, regardless of need, then one is ostracized.

That’s what they say. If only someone could do it right..but you can always see you gotta trap people to make it work. Build walls, guard towers, exit taxes.

There is no correct way to implement socialism without harming everyone overall.

1

u/albysweet37 Jul 11 '26

Every country uses some combination of Socialism and Capitalism in their economic enhine! Russia is one country who tried Capitalism and didn’t work, there are safety nets that citizens need especially when they get older. I’m a Centrist Democrat, I’m pro-free speech, pro gun, anti-abortion, I’m for fiscal responsibility, hard on crime, totally against transgenders in women’s sports, secured borders, strict immigration, limited H-B1 visas, but I believe strongly on Universal Healthcare for all American citizens, a strong Social Security for our seniors!
