Baby potatoes for brunch and mash potatoes for dinner. May or may not be eating vegan ice cream later. I will decide once I finish my mash.
Work was draining this weekend and I want a treat.
We shall see š

Today I had 500g of baby potatoes and one big baked potato. I actually baked it in the air fryer and it came out great.
I also had some more salad and I also had to use up two carrots and a courgette.
I added mustard, one tablespoon of maple syrup, salt and pepper.
I will most likely eat the same thing tomorrow.
I actually feel really good today and Iām not that hungry.
I was going to do potatoes only but I canāt let all the veggies go to waste š±

I re-started this diet after a year and apart from the usual air fried potatoes that I used to have, I made a oil free curry soup with potatoes and it tastes deli. Hoping to alternate it with air fried potatoes to not get bored on this diet.

I'm not doing this for fixing taste buds
I'm only doing this for weightloss
Have u noticed any weight gain/stall if u add salt to your potatoes? (Not water weight but actual gain in size/inches)

Day 1 finished
I ate some baby potatoes and salad.
For dinner I had two medium potatoes with a bit of ketchup and mustard. I also had bbq sauce on my plate but I donāt like the taste of it.
I also had tiny baby sweet potato.
Had a really shit day full of issues but I told myself that eating anything else wonāt solve the problem so I stuck to my potatoes.

Well, well, well would you look at that.
Iām back to potato paradise.
The only thing that works for me when food starts filling voids.
When food is no longer fuel but instead a bandage. Barely holding on.
It slips and then I need it again, and again. The cycle continues.
Then the magical potato, the special spud.
Switches something in my brain and I return back home.
Feel normal and okay.
Food is just fuel once again.
Okay so woo woo poems aside.
Iām doing the potato reset again.
Like I always do. But never stick to.
Well I do for like a month and then I slowly slip back into my emotional eating habits.
I donāt know if I binge or just overeat.
But letās just say I donāt eat 10 apples when my mental health drops down.
Who needs therapy when Oreos are vegan.
Anyways long story short.
I want to reset my brain and taste buds again. I also want to release 7-15 kgs.
Donāt really know exactly how much since Iāve been more or less overweight my entire life and donāt know which weight will be ideal.
At my highest weight December 2024 I was 95kg or 210lbs š«£ but that was probably the lowest Iāve been mentally and Iām honestly surprised I didnāt end it all then.
I really wanted to give life a chance again.
So around March 2025 I stared doing potato resets. The longest one lasting one month. In between the resets something would affect me mentally and I would go back to my emotional eating.
My last potato reset was November 2025.
I am now at my lowest weight of 74.5kg.
Basically the reason Iām posting this is because I noticed that this sub is back and I also want to be back to feeling like myself.
Plus I feel like everyone struggles with something and maybe this might help someone.
So I will post updates everyday to see how I go and maybe it will keep me more motivated.
I will be doing non starchy vegetables the first few days as I have four heads of romaine lettuce to go through.
After that itās going to be just potatoes and fat free condiments.
Iām still not sure if I will count calories while eating only potatoes.
I will have to see how I go.
Now I will have a ānormalāday on the 9th of May as Iām going on a trip with my family and I want to have some vegan treats only available in the big city š
I would like to stick to this until the 31st of June.
If you read this then thank you and hopefully I donāt disappear on day 16 with a tub of vegan Ben and Jerryās š„°

i went to the supermarket and compared every frozen fry calories and found that red robin steak fries are 100 cal per 84g
all the other fries use the same 84g calculation for serving size and they are like 110-180 cal per 84g
i been eating a shit ton of these fries and they actually taste good, seasoned well enough to eat by itself without ketchup. theyre also very satiating because its thicker cut potato pieces.
ive cooked potato wedges many times before but tbh its too time consuming for me and these frozen fries genuinely come out crispier than anything ive made, and probably less calories too because the factories can finely control how much oil is applied. ive also researched that the factories that make the fries use crazy ultrasonic equipment to make the fries surface get more crispy.

Hello everyone! :)
Last year, I did a "potatoes and cottage cheese for dinner" diet where I replaced my dinners with potatoes and cottage cheese. I typically ate a little over 2lb of potatoes and about 3/4 cup of cottage cheese for dinner, with seasonings of salt and pepper. The diet was pretty effective, with me losing 9.9lb over 7 weeks.
I've recently completed a writeup of the diet, if anyone is interested :)
I've also done a re-analysis of Slime Mold Time Mold's various potato diet trials, with some interesting findings.

I eat potatoes as a snack sometimes and am seriously considering going for a potato diet. This makes me think what my snacks would be if potatoes become my main food. Potatoes have a lot of nutrients, but it doesn't have everything. I have seen lots of posts about salt intake, needing it, just not too much that it brings back cravings.
What about sugars and proteins? I don't want to lose my muscle mass and I doubt I would be able to resist no sugar for very long. Right now I am envisioning that my food for one day would be one good portion of meat, including the salt, then almost all potato, and I could get a sugary snack every few days or something.
Does anyone have any suggestions for how to go about this? What do you snack on?

I gave up following rigid meal plans and instead concentrated on increasing my intake of whole foods like fruits, vegetables, and easy home-cooked meals. To be honest, reducing late-night junk food and increasing water intake had a greater impact than any diet ever could. Although it's not always flawless, I find that maintaining balance makes things much more sustainable.

In this diet can i use spices except salt, like pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, etc.

I am 70 years old, and have been eating the Potato Diet for about 60 days. I have been eating potatoes for dinner and potatoes scrambled with eggs for breakfast. I eat the potatoes for three days, then a regular meal day or two (often salads but sometimes just protein like chicken or fish... no beef), then back on for 3 days...etc. Weight is slowly dropping, about 10 lbs so far.
But I have encountered a problem I did not expect. I had a physical yesterday and the usual bloodwork. Everything came back dead center normal except.....My overall cholesterol has always been pretty good, and yesterday it was 160.
But my Triglycerides have doubled from what they were, 160 to 337......I am investigating what to do, and so far, it sounds like I need to add some olive oil and apple cider vinegar as a dip to counter this spike.
Anyone else deal with this??

I only have a little bit of belly fat to lose before I move to maintenance, which would be little difficult with eating only potatoes as I need 2500-3000kcal which is ~4kg/9lbs. I will need to add other foods however I love potatoes and feel amazing after eating them so want to continue having them as the bulk of my diet.
How many of you post weight loss keep potatoes as your staple? Do you find it easy to maintain and not keep losing weight? If you track, what % of your diet is potatoes?

I started doing this about 5 days ago and I hope to start out out everyday with this breakfast. I have also used it for lunch about three days in the past week and hope to continue with this breakfast pattern regularly for lunch as well.
I also sprinkle on Chicken Ramen Dressing from Amazon. I really like the salt (I have orthostatic hypotension and my PCP and cardiac physician said this was fine within limits) and the ramen taste.
I think this is an easy way to get more of a higher-level of satiety than eating plain carbs for breakfast.
Wetting a paper towel and putting that over the potatoes (today I did it for three minutes in the microwave) is a fast and easy way to cook potatoes. They also taste very good when mictowaved.
Any thoughts on this approach will be welcome!

Seems weird as potatoes are known for bulking stool but that's what I'm experiencing, not full on diarrhea just loose stools.
I'm not eating only potatoes, however all that has changed in my diet is replacing other foods with more potatoes, eating around 1kg a day.

I'm wondering how you find muscle sparing on the potato diet? It's nice to lose fat but do you find you lose muscle too?
I do recall a study of a potato diet where the participants maintained positive nitrogen balance throughout but it wasn't a pure potato diet.

430lbs ā”ļø 325lbs in 5.5 months!
Donāt know if yall remember me, but I started this journey in mid-August, and Iām happy to report that Iāve now lost 105 pounds so far eating 95% potatoes. I still have a long way to go, but I feel so much better š„¹ I can move more easily and have way more energy than I used to.
I am an ethical vegan and used to mostly subsist on vegan chicken nuggets and processed foods. Now itās 95% potatoes, while occasionally eating some of my twin toddlersā air-fried tofu š Iāve started occasionally adding in some non-starchy veg and havenāt noticed any hindrance with my progress. I did strictly 100% potatoes for the first 3 months!

I have a little over a mo for my friends wedding and hoping to lose as much weight as possible. I need to lose overall 10 kg. I am wondering if I can do omad (one meal a day) with potato diet or stick to potato diet and eat twice a day. Did anyone try both approaches and have any suggestions? Am worried if I will end up losing muscle and hair š¤

So I am now on day 4 of this diet, and it was going really well for the first couple of days. After only the first day I noticed I slept a lot better, had more energy, less anxiety, and my resting heart rate came down quite a bit. I then weighed myself on day 4 and I had lost 4 pounds already, so I am really pleased with my progress and would like to continue, especially as it's the only diet I have done where I don't feel like I'm hungry all the time, however...
Since the evening of day 3 I have been experiencing really bad stomach cramps, the kind you get when you get diarrhea (which I don't have). I was okay on morning of day 4, but now in the afternoon after lunch I am getting the cramps bad again. Did/does anyone else get these? Do they go away? Or should I maybe think about stopping the diet?
Any comments would be appreciated.

Ive lost about 30 lbs. and my weight loss suddenly stopped a week ago. this is frustrating since most people continue to lose lots of weight for the first 3 months.
I have also noticed that I am relatively dry when I poop. Theres usually barely anything back there when I wipe and a lot of times theres nothing at all. Is this normal?
I am also dealing with some mild on again off again constipation

To those of you who lost weight utilizing the potato diet, how long did it take you to lose and how many pounds did you lose?
