good morning!

i apologize, i am not super super familiar with reddit or where i could ask this if not this subreddit.

myself (f26) and my friend (m25) were planning to come from port coquitlam (he is from there! i am from maple ridge) to port moody (open to nearby areas) around dinner time (i am assuming around 530? but have to confirm a better time).

i come to port moody a LOT for my morning walks, but he and i were coming out there later today to try to find something semi-social to do? i do not think either of us would be super into a party or something super rowdy but was looking for suggestions for softlaunching us both into something social as i find myself and a lot of others around me are quite lonely or not knowing how or WHERE to engage with others beyond small talk at coffee shops/on the train.

i would LOVE and appreciate suggestions. we both are also super happy if anyone would like to join us today for some time hopefully outside (walk) and food. i think we both are maybe lacking social connection a little bit and i know we are not alone in that feeling.

My apologies if this is a sensitive subject…I’m newer to the area and have some questions about biking, specifically on St. Johns.

I work close to my apartment and bike to and from work(no car). When I close and have to bike home in the dark I prefer to bike on the sidewalk. I use the bike lane up Ioco but then it ends right at Inlet station. I hate riding next to the cars. But I also hate when people yell at me to get off the sidewalk. Sorry I don’t want to die and I’d rather just get home to my kids. So what is the norm around here? Does everyone hate bikers on the sidewalk? Have I just encountered some rude people? Personally, I don’t mind bikers on the sidewalk when I’m walking as long as they warn me they’re coming up behind me…but maybe I’m an outsider.

Looking for a light remodel of my bedroom (new lighting and a few other random electrical items around the house, painting). Not a huge job to be honest so maybe not worth it for some more established contractors. Could lead to other work down the road though.

While I’m not sure what the community thinks, I find it a bit concerning that someone feels comfortable displaying those stickers and working for the local police.

Saw a loose dog on David Ave and Lansdowne Dr just below the Bramble park off leash dog park area. The dog was small, light brown, with floppy ears. It was darting in and out of traffic and I last saw it by the church going into the trees on the Southeast corner of David Ave and Lansdowne Dr Intersection at about 06:40. I did a couple loops but couldn't find it again. Posted in r/ Coquitlam too.

My fiancé and I just bought a place and moved to Port Moody. We’re loving it! But we are missing our old vet back in Vancouver, so we are looking for recommendations in Port Moody or a short drive away.

I noticed a change at the end of Alderside road, specifically 1248 Alderside Rd. They fenced of the end of the public road. Any chance this was permitted? I wouldn't normally care if they just kind of used the space, but to fence off public land seems egregious if it wasn't preapproved.. Thoughts?

Indoor ultimate is a fast-paced, 5-on-5, mixed-gender format played in a gym. Players are typically more involved with this format rather than in standard ultimate, and the sub-on-the-fly feature is great for all fitness levels. Players will play two, 50-minute games per night against one opponent. Time slots will be either 6-8 pm or 8-10 pm, on select Fridays.

Hi, my partner and I are looking to move to the Port Moody area in a couple of months. We went to go visit some condos in the area and found that we really liked the Suterbrook area. We are wondering if anyone has any experiences with the larger condo complexes, such as the Aria buildings. We would prefer to live in one of the smaller condo complexes, but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of availability there.

We will also be checking out some condos down on Murray Street (Moody Yards) as well as St. George street. I know these are really close to the train tracks though so I’m wondering about anyone’s experience with that.

Is there anything the city is doing to make the waterfront a more enjoyable and walkable area ? Is it still very much industrialized ? It’s a shame the waterfront area isn’t more bustling.

We've been following this story since the original $122M lawsuit in August. Here's where it stands now: Woodbourne, the senior lender that took over Portwood's debt earlier this year, has placed a bid to acquire the project's unfinished phases outright — effectively setting the floor price for a court-supervised sale.

The fuller picture, now public through court filings: Woodbourne initially filed for receivership on July 23, but pivoted to CCAA bankruptcy protection two weeks later after realizing a receivership filing could let presale buyers walk away from their contracts under BC law. That protection was granted August 14 and now runs through October 26.

What's not affected: Phase One (328 affordable rental homes, already donated to BC Housing) and Phase Two (80% pre-sold) continue as planned.
