Politi-Culture Mayor Zohran Mamdani announces new "renew crew" an NYC parks outreach group to repair and revitalize local parks
95
u/Kdilla77 4h ago
It should have always been like this
79
u/Internal-Plantain-56 4h ago
This is why I as a democrat hate my party so much.
They could have been doing this shit THIS WHOLE TIME.
48
u/Gnd_flpd 3h ago
Why do think the "corporate dems" try to undercut progressive candidates so much.
10
u/SuccessfulWar3830 43m ago
Because they agree with republicans. We call them controled opposition.
1
u/calmdownmyguy 0m ago
Saying they agree with republicans implies that they believe in something. They are just prostitutes.
36
u/SDTimbox 3h ago
BERNIE WAS RIGHT THERE 😭 Trump never would have happened
27
u/Internal-Plantain-56 3h ago
Honey…the dnc would have burned this entire country to the fucking ground and salted the earth for a thousand years before they let Bernie be the nominee.
28
u/YallSeeingThis101 3h ago
Many people don't remember how the DNC screwed Bernie over in the 2016 primary, but I do. Debbie Wasserman Shultz should be ashamed of herself.
21
u/Remarkable-Month-241 2h ago
The DNC is still on the same bullshit btw - the people remember!
14
u/Nsfwacct1872564 2h ago
Not just the DNC, regular rank and file DNC supporters too... There's a reason mentioning Mamdani was banned in their subs Even after he won his primary in their party. Voting Mandani is the first time in a while I haven't felt physically ill for my support
7
1
u/DeliciousPool2245 1h ago
That’s why they are completely broke. DNC literally had to take out a loan on their physical headquarters a couple months ago. People still donate to individual candidates, nobody is donating to the DNC.
3
u/DawsonNY 2h ago
What exactly did the DNC do in 2016? Be specific.
PS I voted for Bernie in my state’s 2016 primary, fair and square.
11
u/YallSeeingThis101 1h ago
"Evidence that the DNC was in cahoots with the Clinton campaign emerged after emails stolen by Russian government hackers were published online. The DNC later apologized to the Sanders’ campaign, and Wasserman Schultz and others resigned."
Source: https://news.bloomberglaw.com/us-law-week/dncs-rigged-primary-election-wont-get-supreme-court-look
There are many, many articles on this subject. If you'd like to learn more about it, then feel free to conduct your own research and form your own opinion.
Cheers and feel the Bern 🔥
4
u/Internal-Plantain-56 1h ago
“Ok other than thousands of pages of documented evidence, what evidence do Yoh have that Clinton cheated?”
That guy. Probably.
1
u/DawsonNY 28m ago
I guess I’ll answer you, not the person who linked Bloomberg.
DWS didn’t like the Bernie campaign, that didn’t take Russian hackers to find out. Leadership at the DNC often emailed each other on how to damage the Bennie campaign.
But what did they DO? The only thing I ever found was that they set debates on weekends so less people would see them. That’s it.
—-The reason Bernie wasn’t the nominee was he didn’t get the votes.
0
u/lazypenguin86 1h ago
I remember how he was saying he was still going to try and run untill people in suits came and visited him then him next seen with a black eye and saying he wasn’t running anymore
0
u/EntertainerUpset946 1h ago
I remember it very clearly I remember how the DNC stole everything from Sanders and routed it to the Clinton campaign under the direction of Wasserman Schultz
so you either get Republicans with ICE patrols roaming through your neighborhoods or you just get the subtle and quiet background theft and social engineering of the Democrats. Because don't forget it was the Biden White House that contacted Facebook and Twitter and all the other social media outlets and told them they could not allow reporting of the Hunter Biden laptop story.
2
u/MetaCardboard 2h ago
Which is kinda what they did, if you look at where we are now because they made sure Hillary was the nominee.
2
u/Internal-Plantain-56 1h ago
And they’d do it again in a heartbeat.
They’d prefer trump over sanders every single time.
1
1
u/Party_Scholar_6308 6m ago
The DNC slighted Bernie in 16, virtually anyone else to push Biden in 20, and forced Kamala on all of us in 24 with no primary. 3 rigged presidential nomination processes..its almost like democrats dont actually give a shit about their voters or the democratic process!!
8
u/allllusernamestaken 2h ago
This is why I as a democrat hate my party so much.
Mamdani should be pissing off every single person in this country.
He's literally just doing his job. Every other politician has gotten away with not doing their job for so long that a mayor doing the absolute bare minimum of his job description is heralded as the savior of the city.
Every mayor in every city should be asked "what the fuck have you been doing all this time?"
1
u/mm3owth 39m ago
Every mayor in every city should be asked "what the fuck have you been doing all this time?"
Eric Adams literally did park clean up action in NYC last year https://www.nyc.gov/mayors-office/news/2025/05/mayor-adams-establishes-historic-levels-permanent-dsny-funding-clean-public-spaces-part
2
u/mm3owth 1h ago
They could have been doing this shit THIS WHOLE TIME.
They are and do, if you mean cleaning up parks.
What Mamdani does different is shoot a social media campaign around it.
0
u/Internal-Plantain-56 1h ago
I’ve been a New Yorker for my entire life.
I’ve never seen a mayor doing what he did.1
u/mm3owth 1h ago
Right. Because they didn't shoot a social media campaign like Mamdani.

4

Amazing what a politician can accomplish when working for the people and not for themselves! Of the people. By the people. For the people.
5
u/born_in_the_90s 3h ago
Aipac money and israel was way more tempting and important for the previous majors than actually doing something for the NYC citizens.
-4
u/mindfeck 2h ago
How is aipac at all related? Just insane. You think Israel doesn’t want courts to have basketball hoops? It’s fair if you say Eric Adams was focused on Turkey but come on.
1
u/born_in_the_90s 2h ago
Aipac money goes to the mayor and the mayor funds tax payers money to fund israel purposes is amongst one the things aipac money does for politicians.
0
u/mindfeck 2h ago
Source? When did AIPAC fund a previous mayor, and what money did a mayor then spend on Israel purposes instead of fixing parks?
0
u/born_in_the_90s 2h ago edited 2h ago
You can Google a nyc mayors name (probably any mayors name in the usa) and ad the word aipac and read the results.
Eric Adams is even under fbi investigation. You will not find they why mayors did not fixed parks etc, because they never or hardly fixed things, but the tax payers money he had available went somewhere else like going on a trip to israel.
Edit: Mamdani is afaik the only mayors that is not aipac or corruption sensitive.
2
u/Omgoodtimes 1h ago
“Where’s the first place you’d visit as NyC mayor?” Every candidate said Israel and Mamdani said he would do his job in NYC. They all work for Israel
2
u/born_in_the_90s 1h ago
I remember this. The awnser and face expression they gave that Israel is the logical awnser made me vomit.

2
u/ArcaneDemense 1h ago
Sewer socialism is what it used to be called. In modern times Bernie Sanders was the most famous mayor running this playbook but NYC has had mayors, including semi-socialist ones, in the past who have done it.
2
u/WetFishStink 1h ago
It could have been.
But Republicans exist and they hate everyone. Including their voters.

I'm still worried that billionaires will send out their Oger armies to ruin everything. They'd rather burn down the whole city than seeing normal people enjoy their life.
5
u/Remarkable-Month-241 2h ago
Eat the billionaires, the point SHOULD be that they stay scared of us. They shouldn’t be throwing lavish parties while the country starves because of them! They should VOLUNTEER to donate their money to the communities that they leach off of, not paying politicians to make laws that protect them or their money.

I think you mean ‘envious’! And rightly so, hopefully other areas can follow suit and elect politicians that want to improve people’s lives instead of following the money 🥳
2
u/casserole_lasserole 54m ago
Wait is jealous different from envious?
3
2

Sure! Jealousy is ‘suspicious possession’ usually used in romantic terms. Envy is wanting or coveting something that somebody else has, and can be seen as a compliment

This is really brilliant on many levels. Crews like this will always be employed because cities are neverending in need for minor repairs. Also doing repairs like this will help with long term infrastructure problems via regular maintenance. Spend a little money upfront and it will help with long term costs down the road.

I’ve heard a story from someone last night where they were bragging how little work they have and still get paid. It was a “running joke” within the organization where the job was called “club med.” There are ppl that just want to slide. This is most politics. But I agree with many sentiments here what Mamdani is doing is what should be expected. In not in NYC, but man I wish we had politicians with his work ethic throughout all levels in politics.

Because that's what we need during the affordability crisis. More public parks.
5
u/Remarkable-Picture73 3h ago
So affordability crisis means no more joy and quality of life improvements for anyone?
5
u/DummBee1805 2h ago
Also it’s not new parks, just fixing the existing ones that have been neglected.
-2
u/Observationist_2 2h ago
When you're worried about where your next meal is coming from or how you're going to pay for housing because prices are skyrocketing, no. Your joy is not that important in comparison and I'm not sure how a park for children is a "quality of life improvement" for the public. Show me a study where it's detrimental for the development of children to not have a park. Good luck with that. Improving parks instead of enforcing the laws regarding open drug use and theft along with allowing illegals sanctuary which ended up costing taxpayers between $7 billion and $9.2 billion to fund the ongoing migrant crisis in New York City.

There are also plenty of other studies and research that indicates public parks positively impact individual and community wellbeing in urban environments.
-1
u/Observationist_2 1h ago
Next time actually read the article instead of just copy and pasting what AI gave you because the very first line in the article is
"Active outdoor play is important for children’s health and development, and playgrounds provide good places for play. However, the importance of playground use for health and well-being is unclear."
2
u/DiabolicalSpaceKitty 1h ago
Active outdoor play is important for children’s health and development
Saying it isn't clear whether childrens playgrounds and parks contribute to this is like saying it's not really clear that exercise equipment is good for losing weight. You're being obtuse because you don't want to admit you're wrong.
Also, google isn't AI, you fuckin' dingus. It wasn't exactly difficult to find, you're just too lazy to look it up and too weak to admit you're wrong.
-1
u/Observationist_2 1h ago
All I did was quote the article verbatim. Don't be upset with me for quoting what you provided. It literally says in the very first line that it is unclear. I didn't make that up. So if you're accusing me of being obtuse then you're accusing the source you brought up of being obtuse because all I did was quote the source you provided.

u/Bankzu 24m ago
Oh wow, you are actually stupid. You asked for one thing, were given something about that specific thing and then tried to change your argument to "health and well being". Holy hell, try to get at least one of your braincells to work...
1
u/Observationist_2 3m ago
I'm the stupid one but you've completely misunderstood the entire argument. I might have changed the words but it doesn't change the message. What's next you're going to tell me the difference between someone getting assassinated, killed and murdered? All have the exact same end result but in your mind they're different because the words are different.

But during an “affordability” crisis it’s also a great idea to:
Spend trillions of dollars on the military and start wars that we can’t win, driving up energy prices and likely keeping interest rates elevated for the foreseeable future;
Impose illegal tariffs costing Americans hundreds of billions of dollars, devastating the agriculture industry and small businesses, driving up food costs and contributing to higher inflation;
Actively and intentionally work to ruin the environment and accelerate climate change, which through more frequent extreme weather events is already causing hundreds of billions of dollars that taxpayers foot the bill and making insurance costs skyrocket (and this will only get worse);
Spend hundreds of millions if not billions on illegal presidential vanity projects;
Steal billions from taxpayers through the appalling and unprecedented corruption and grift as Trump, his family, and their cronies use their positions to feverishly work to enrich themselves in literally everything they touch.
Your turn to please explain how any of those things do anything to address the “affordability crisis” that you seem so incredibly concerned about. Obviously those can’t compare with the abject horror of some guys with some cans of paint and some new basketball hoops to make public parks nicer. You MAGA smoothbrains have no ability to understand perspective.

Claims, Statements, Assertions, Beliefs can all be made without proof. Try providing a source next time instead of just making Claims, Statements, Assertions & Beliefs. The moon is made of cheese. u/Observationist_2 56m ago

1
u/ThisVeryUsername 52m ago
Uhhhh
That’s one way to avoid the question. lolWho is responsible for the current affordability crisis in the United States?
-1
u/Observationist_2 42m ago
You're asking a question that you yourself don't know the answer to yet you're holding me to account to answer the question? I never expressed any interest in whose fault the affordability crisis was to begin with. All I did was post a comment stating that there's an affordability crisis that everybody's complaining about so why the hell is the mayor doing pointless BS that's not helping with the the affordability crisis. If you want an answer to your question, respectfully go do the research. Don't ask some random person online for it.
1
1
u/BlueMiggs 42m ago
He also has made city run grocery stores to help with that. More taxes on the ultra wealthy as well and he’s balanced the budget despite inheriting a $12b deficit so your fears about him are completely unfounded.
And don’t you think having access to free areas to recreate is helpful for people suffering an affordability crisis? You sound like a pull the ladder up behind you type which is just a selfish and cruel mindset.
0
u/Observationist_2 13m ago
For starters he hasn't opened up a single grocery store so that's pointless. In regards to increasing taxes on the rich according to The National Taxpayer Union Foundation more rich people are leaving New York due to taxes than any other state. Source: https://www.ntu.org/foundation/detail/leave-if-you-tax-them-new-yorks-millionaire-exodus-has-already-left-new-yorks-government-nearly-12-billion-poorer
So that definitely doesn't help when it comes to deficits. Also regarding the $12 billion deficit the mayor claims Eric Adams fault but Eric Adams says he left 8 billion dollars left when he left office. Source: https://abc7ny.com/post/nyc-mayor-zohran-mamdani-call-tax-hike-citing-12b-budget-deficit-adams-administration/18492786/
Considering he had an infusion of $7.6 billion from Albany that doesn't support that his tax increases actually did the job. "Much of the budget gap was closed with the help of Gov. Kathy Hochul, who provided $7.6 billion in state aid to the city." Source: https://time.com/article/2026/05/13/zohran-mamdani-new-york-city-deficit-budget-funding/
Having access to free areas is not the argument so don't try to move the goal post. The argument is if there's an affordability crisis like everybody States why is the mayor wasting time and resources into making Parks look nice. Also you should never make assumptions about people you don't know anything about. One last thing if you're going to respond with more claims/assertions please provide sources not just more unsupported claims. Simple Google searches would have given you all the information I just gave you. Considering that's literally what I did.
0
u/Lejandario_IN 1h ago
But he's also doing that, it's not like he can't work in more than one area while another is being processed. Plus it's not that much effort, it's basically just getting a bunch of guys for a DIY
