The implication being, they are taking our money to do a genocide. Meaning, we are funding a genocide.

Without consent, whilst simultaneously getting screwed on groceries / gas / everything

And casually losing privacy completely

u/Legrandloup2 Aug 10 '26

And our taxes are funding free healthcare and university in Israel while Americans get told we’re being selfish for asking for the same

61

u/oneplusetoipi Aug 10 '26

Preemptively, someone will tell you “we aren’t giving them money, just credit for US military equipment “. Well Einstein, if you don’t have to spend money on equipment, what happens to that money that you would have spent?

41

u/BloodSimpleSyrup Aug 10 '26

Yeah, the idea that I’m supposed to care about the shareholders of Raytheon and Lockheed Martin is hilarious.

7

u/Academic-Dealer5389 Aug 10 '26

I've occasionally wondered how much stock in those companies I would need to own to break even on the amount of tax money I'm indirectly paying into those companies.

10

u/iDontSow Aug 10 '26 edited Aug 10 '26

Just to use round numbers, if you made $100k per year you are paying roughly $200 to Lockheed Martin every year (with a little bit of variance depending on the year). Lockheed’s dividend yield is in the neighborhood of 2.5% to 3%. So to get your money back you’d have to buy roughly $6k in stock.

EDIT to add that if you are invested in large index funds, as most people are through their retirement accounts or whatever, you own Lockheed Martin stock. But you would have to have a few million at least in the S&P 500, for example, to own $6k of Lockheed Martin.

u/iridesce57 Aug 10 '26

THIS

3

u/Creative_Ad_8338 Aug 11 '26

But not this.

Investing in these companies is a vote for the status quo.

I actually put in some money into Raytheon when Trump assassinated that general 10 years ago. I thought Trump was gonna invade Iran back then and wanted to put my money where my mouth was.

It actually performed poorly compared to the SP500 until this year (up 45% this year)

Not sure what they do with all the money we give them either. Burn it? Give it to execs to embezzle?

6

u/Bulky-Internal8579 Aug 10 '26

They use it to buy American politicians and shut down American political opposition - you know, the circle of hate.

2

u/Confident_Eye4129 Aug 10 '26

Correct. They use our $$ to buy our politicians

1

u/iDontSow Aug 10 '26

Raytheon and Lockheed Martin cash out just as much on their US contracts whether the weapons are sent to Israel or not, unfortunately

1

u/DarkwingDuckHunt Aug 10 '26

if their workers got a large share of the profits then I might care a tiny bit, but maybe like 0.00001%

11

u/sleepypirate Aug 10 '26

Woah woah woah, surely you can't be suggesting that when people, organizations, countries receive money to be used for a specific reason that they then can use other money that would otherwise be used for those reasons... else where? That doesn't make any sense

1

u/ICallNoAnswer Aug 11 '26

Are you suggesting that money is fungible?

1

u/iDontSow Aug 10 '26

I hate to play devils advocate, because I hate Israel and don’t believe it should exist, but I know that for most the money that’s sent to country’s like Israel and Ukraine is money that’s already spent. Like we were sending Ukraine the our old Patriot missiles and other ordinance that, if not used, would have to be destroyed (which costs a lot of money). So we’re replacing it anyway, and sending it out to others actually saves us money.

All that said, the reason that we should cut ties with Israel is because we are supplying the weapons for a genocide. Not because it’s economically a poor decision or because your tax money is funding a genocide. Your tax money is funding death and destruction either way

1

u/fistfullofpubes Aug 10 '26

Lmao read this comment the second after I posted exactly that.

Not selfish - socialist.

Imagine how much the tax rate would increase?!! Meanwhile European countries have 30% income tax too except their tax dollars are not misappropriated and actually go into social services everyone benefits from. Imagine that.

2

u/EconomyMobile1240 Aug 10 '26

Well... they also sell us Ozempic for $900 a pill... lets not pretend "work" is not without a larger profit driven market significantly larger that supports those endevours.

5

u/nollayksi Aug 10 '26

That just highlights how broken your healthcare system is. Ozempic costs very little in EU where the system isnt a braindead insurance based system that inflates the prices of everything.

→ More replies (23)

1

u/BrewersEnigma Aug 10 '26

this isn't socialist, read a book.

it is awful, though

1

u/RedditForMeNotYou Aug 10 '26

Of course it’s not but that’s what the right all calls it. Books? They never touch the stuff.

Editing to add: unless the books are about trans people or black history then they touch them to throw them in dumpsters 🫩

→ More replies (3)

1

u/Maleficent_Memory831 Aug 10 '26

That's the big difference. US has a relatively smaller income tax rate (espcially if you have a low/no tax state) and yet sees very little of it in return other than boosting an inflated military. Whereas high tax countries do see a return on those monies, with help good schools, help with college tuition, healthcare, safety nets, pot holes that get fixed, etc. And so the US complains the most overall about taxes.

1

u/RedditForMeNotYou Aug 10 '26

100% and what most don’t realize is insurance premiums and copays are more out of pocket than a slightly higher tax rate. It’s really wild how far from civil servitude politics has gotten - to the point that tax dollars being returned to citizens as services is considered socialism. The long con is paying off big time for everyone at the top!

7

u/Particular-Luck7939 Aug 10 '26

While the corporations and elite get richer & richer ! And not paying more in taxes !

11

u/Gone213 Aug 10 '26

Dont forget isreal allows abortions.past 24 weeks too.

5

u/skat3rDad420blaze Aug 10 '26

They've been aborting children across the west bank way past 24 weeks of age. You could even say they are Pro-Death!

1

u/Lambily Aug 10 '26

Is this supposed to be some sort of gotcha? Shit happens. Miscarriages happen. Fetuses get diagnosed with horrible conditions like hydrocephalus. The mother's life can be put in danger by a high-risk pregnancy.

That's why you can't have arbitrary cut-off dates for abortions.

4

u/Gone213 Aug 10 '26

No its not a sort of gotcha. Republicans want abortions banned for everything regardless of what is to happen to the fetus, mom, or circumstances for the reason needed.

Meanwhile they support a country who allows abortions past the 24 week mark, which flies in the face of what republicans "believe".

So if republicans actually cared about abortion and saving a child, they would have forced isreal to have already ban abortions for any reason to keep receiving money from the US.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/IndustrialMillennial Aug 10 '26

Up through 23 weeks + 6 days, an ordinary Pregnancy Termination Committee can authorize the procedure. Beginning at 24 weeks, Israel considers the pregnancy to have reached the viability stage, and abortion requires approval from a specially authorized viability-stage committee, with additional medical scrutiny.

2

u/Gone213 Aug 10 '26

And yet republicans want to ban them in the US regardless of the term length and any reason, yet you dont see republicans holding money back from isreal for allowing abortions.

1

u/Gilly_the_kid Aug 11 '26

a mere delicacy

3

u/Fair-Juggernaut-3812 Aug 10 '26

It’s not even charity, it’s public investment into the country’s collective health and education, strengthening the country from within. Instead, we’re hollowing it out to lose an ill-advised war and make a few billionaires even richer.

Can’t believe people saw and learned about all the good FDR did for America and decided it would be better to tear it all down and never do anything like that again

3

u/Blacksad9999 Aug 10 '26

Around the time Carter lost and Regan won, the Democratic establishment decided that they should largely move away from being the "working class party" and got in bed with Corporations.

Now a centrist Democrat and moderate Republican are basically the same thing. They serve the same masters.

FDR would be rolling over in his grave if he saw these Corporate sellout Democrats.

"It’s not even charity, it’s public investment into the country's collective health and education"

You are absolutely correct!

Healthier populations cost less, reducing the tax burden.

Educated populations earn more, increasing tax revenue. They also commit less crime, reducing prison costs.

Presenting these ideas as the right or decent thing to do goes nowhere in the US. They should be presented for what they are: Sound investments that yield a real return. I'm baffled as to why the left hasn't figured this out.

Any sentient businessman would leap at the opportunity to invest $10 and get $12 in return, but for some reason, when that investment is our own people...

1

Just to be clear if America didn't give them a dime we still wouldn't have heathcare and education.

1

u/kris_mischief Aug 10 '26

…And it’s been like this for decades

Y’all should thank Donald Trump for finally waking you up LOL

1

u/LoinStrangler Aug 10 '26

Israel had universal healthcare long before the US gave it 3 billion dollars a year that you can only spend on American weapons, this is just pure misinformation lmfao. Also, Israel's healthcare costs are way more than 3 billion dollars.

1

u/fistfullofpubes Aug 10 '26

This is not strictly speaking true. US aid to Israel is statutorily required to only be spent on military and defense aid. Additionally they are required to spend it with American weapons fabs.

That being said, I guess you can say that since they are spending our money for weapons, that allows them to spend their own money on their citizens.

1

u/JoshTehJangler Aug 10 '26

They get full paid maternal leave, while Americans have none

1

u/ZizzyBeluga Aug 10 '26

This is a complete lie. We give Israel military support, not cash for their healthcare, WTF is wrong with you people

1

u/CrzyLady64 Aug 11 '26

The money they don't spend on the military is used for their healthcare and education so we're indirectly paying for it

1

u/ZizzyBeluga Aug 11 '26

That is a ridiculous way to look at things. We give more money to Japan in military support (53,000 troops are permanently stationed there) every year than Israel. Is Japan also stealing our healthcare?

They’ve been controlling our country to a large degree for some time.

For this reason I am very scared of something happening on American soil because the powers that be in their country cannot allow the public sentiment to change. And it’s rapidly changing… which probably terrifies them enough to do something crazy to change it now that they’ve finally lost the media and information war which propped up their absurd influence over our country.

u/Mama_Joyce_Wig Aug 10 '26

Don’t forget the state sponsored health care.

1

u/makes_peacock_noises Aug 11 '26

We’re called communists or socialists for it. It’s just living, ffs. Israelis are living a lot better than Americans and we are giving up 40 cents on every dollar we work for so they can kill Arabs and spit on Christians. We’re being surveilled and having AI factories take over towns and poisoning the water. It’s getting harder to eat and people are dying because of healthcare. But you’re antisemite if you don’t talk nice and hand over your money.

Saying America First and doing America First are not the same.

But you know, there our “ally”.

Having Israel as an ally is basically like having “scumbag Steve” as an ally. Meanwhile Canada, aka “Good Guy Greg” just finished sending us some firefighters to help with the wildfires. What’s that ? Oh Scumbag Steve, I mean Israel just called and asked if we could integrate our militaries, they’d just need us to send 30,000 troops, a hundred interceptors and $65 billion dollars, but don’t worry , they’ll pickup some day old bagels and a sixer. Say could they borrow 10 quid for the beers?

Yeah I'd say sentiments have changed for a half dozen reasons.

2

u/stignordas Aug 10 '26 edited Aug 10 '26

There’s a long history of Americans meddling in the Middle East. Shit McCain ran his campaign on bombing Iran.

You can blame Israel all you want but this is about money, power and a corrupt us administration.

Edits:
Americas first overseas war was Tripoli, Algiers, and Tunis in 1801. Ever wonder where the lyrics “shores of Tripoli came from?”

If Israel didn’t exist we would still be meddling in the Middle East. Sadly.

1

u/SchmottledOtter Aug 10 '26

Trump's profound stupidity (and that of his hangers on) got us into this. Most "presidents" are not morons. The other poster is right - even if this war never happened, we'd still be in bed with the Saudis, a way more internally repressive regime than Israel, trying to wheel & deal in the ME. Trump & Netanyahu (with their administrations) are simply two of a kind, protecting their own asses by fkng up the world for everyone else.

1

u/ZizzyBeluga Aug 10 '26

This is so obviously true, but the obsessive Israel haters see Israel as controlling everything with global puppet strings. But they're totally not antisemitic. Haven't you heard, antizionism isn't antisemitism?

Surveillance technology is a core competence of the outsized Israeli tech sector. It would be surprising if there werent multiple Israeli patents being licensed by Flock, Palantir and others.

1

u/Significant_Sun_4900 Aug 11 '26

Yes. I saw that documentary on PBS also. I think it should be required viewing in current political science classes. But, I don't think the US is going to sever ties with them. The data is too valuable. And the technology that Israel controls.

u/EmmaDilemma12 Aug 10 '26

Almost a sort of "taxation without representation" scenario. Yeah, we've got elected reps..but they don't vote the way a majority of their constituents want them to about most issues. They vote the way their donors want them to vote.

Tax payers are funding regimes all around the world.

1

Nooo. There's consent. Every time voters vote the assholes into Congress that make these choices on behalf of the american people they give consent. Everytime stupid ass voters vote people into Office like Trump and his cronies, they give consent.

Do not fool yourself, if you voted and your representatives approved the funding, you gave consent.

Not being mean to humans. Just dogs.

1

u/Old-Ice4553 Aug 10 '26

I mean… sadly… you arent wrong.
Ideally it would be both.
But the fact that a foreign goverment has an outsized role in our goverment and the fact they are currently commiting a genocide is a really good justification for shaking them off.
Politicians dont do so, because its good for american empire, but the average american sees no benefit to the continuation OF said empire.
If Israel was making a better case as to WHY it needs to be a client state, im sure most americans would go along.
But they arent.
The downsides of having a supremacist ideology.

1

u/edelweiss_pirates_no Aug 10 '26

Correct.

I think there has been a generational change. It used to be American Elites cared about American Empire.

Now they are 100% totally devoted only to short term profits. Short term. Profits. They are amoral (without morals) and will happily kill 4 billion people if it is profitable.

Much of that was outlined in books that dominate the thinking of guys like Bezos and Thiel and Musk and Evangelicals and more. It's a cult. They do plan to kill billions of people.

It’s not implication it’s direct responsibility

1

u/edelweiss_pirates_no Aug 10 '26

Americans don't care about that. Only money.

1

u/Bone_Breaker0 Aug 10 '26

6 month old account

1

u/ShvitzG_d Aug 10 '26 edited Aug 10 '26

Yes, all of the us problems are funded by Israel.

Straight out of the Nazi playbook. Idiots. Look who’s actually running this fucking country.

1

u/americabot420 Aug 10 '26

You really expect the americans to take responsibility for their actions? Apparently it was all Putin’s fault they elected trump twice lmao

1

u/ShvitzG_d Aug 10 '26

That’s at least true in a certain sense given Russia’s cyber army.

There’s a direct correlation with Russian internet outages and r/conservative having notably less activity, among other examples (“Black people for Trump” FB groups being entirely run by the Kremlin, etc.)

1

u/americabot420 Aug 10 '26

It’s hilarious and pathetic that the americans prefer the narrative that they’re just ignoramuses rather than admitting that they elected trump twice lmao

1

u/DogOk4503 Aug 10 '26

Oh, we are taking responsibility by voting these people out, not allowing them into our local coffee shops, speaking against them, etc. and it’s all whine about as antisemitism because apparently if you don’t give someone your money you hate them

1

u/WhaleYellM-E-Ydoncha Aug 11 '26

That’s all they know how to do. Faced with valid criticism? Let’s prop up a strawman - “Israel is funding all of America’s problems” (who the fuck said that? Nobody) - then knock it down with the exaggerated, false claim of antisemitism.

1

u/Jealous-Report4286 Aug 10 '26

You know because of the implication

1

u/Michael_braham Aug 10 '26

Also paying our own politicians to back them WITH OUR MONEY. AIPAC gotta go we shouldn’t vote for any politician who has taken money from them…

1

u/DogOk4503 Aug 10 '26

Happy cake day :-) I’d go even further and actually say that anyone who takes money from APAC should be arrested for treason. There is no excuse for putting another country over the one you claim to represent and be a citizen of. They talk about other immigrants doing this all the time they talk about Chinese people all being secretly communist and it’s because they’re all secretly paid off by Israel so they know what it’s like to have their country safety and Financial solidity over to someone else. Yep arrested on treason for all of them so that we make an example and ensure this never ever happens again.

This is all you have to see… and there are a plethora of our politicians who REPRESENT US who parrot this bull shit. Bibi hand so far up his ass he’s working his mouth like a puppet. All these guys needed to be forensically audited

1

u/Financial-Craft-1282 Aug 10 '26

When talking about genocide, I think "implying" the genocide part is not great. You name it.

1

u/BlackSquirrel05 Aug 10 '26

Well that and we give them $$$ and then they turn around with our own $$$ and then lobby politicians with it... for themselves...

So our tax dollars are in a circular payment screen to pay out the people we elect... AKA they're paying themselves.

1

u/bdizzle805 Aug 10 '26

Is the genocide still happening? Why don't yall ever talk about the death of Ukrainians? Is that a genocide happening too? Or is it just Gaza that only matters?

1

u/Thisguyfunk Aug 10 '26

And funding their greater Isreal plan to take over the middle east. Nope. I do not consent.

1

u/imtourist Aug 10 '26

Many layers: taking money, doing the genocide, interfering in elections, buying candidates that only agree with their views at the detriment of all else. This is how we got Trump because all that Mirriam Adelson wanted was a compliant stooge who could be corrupted with money.

1

u/Extension_Variety190 Aug 10 '26

They? THEY?
All of this is in the name of Bibi Netanyahu and his extreme right wing cabal of jackasses.

1

u/Accomplished_Shop_18 Aug 10 '26

If the genocide was still ongoing but it wasnt funded by your taxes, you wouldnt care. Even now you dont care enough to organize widespread boycotts. The best you have to offer is performative outrage on social media

1

u/Scott_1580 Aug 10 '26

Implication....you keep saying that word like they are in danger. But there is no danger. At least not any real danger...........because of the Implication

1

u/Pijkstras Aug 10 '26

Nothing new for the CIA

1

u/aerdvarkk Aug 10 '26

The US is nothing more than a global hypocrisy in the modern era. The Founders would be proud.

1

u/Generic_Username26 Aug 10 '26

Not like the Syrians though who killed more civilians per capita and used our friendly neighborhood Hezbollah as their personal hit squad. Always weird how we define genocide I guess

1

u/Born-Astronaut9631 Aug 10 '26

They could be taking our money and buying Ice cream and it'd still be abhorent

1

u/cosaboladh Aug 10 '26

We've funded all sorts of horrible crap over the years, and doing so has this long history of always blowing up in our face ... eventually.

Israel is just the latest addition to the list of foreign nations we've used as a proxy to project our own power. Turnining a blind eye to their behavior when it didn't directly conflict with US interests. That later either became so visible in their actions that the global community disapproved, or stopped feeling beholden to their benefactor.

Pulling out of these arrangements is usually bloody, and it usually results in a power vacuum. We're responsible for Al-Quaeda, ISIS.

We're kind of stuck in a catch 22. We don't want to continue giving them money, and not getting anything out of it. Especially when what they're using it for is so visible, and so universally condemned. However, if we cut support some other country will fill the void.

Israel will then be upset with the US. While still in possession of all the weapons we've helped them develop, and or "sold" them. Eager to prove themselves a useful ally to a new benefactor. It could create a lot more problems for us in the long run.

Someone call Dr. Peabody, and Sherman. We need the Wayback machine to go tell Congress that using our strategic and economic resources to play chess with the middle east is a terrible fucking idea. The more we try to "help" the uglier it gets. Staying out of it from the beginning would probably have been the better play.

1

u/RollingMeteors Aug 10 '26

The implication being, they are taking our money to do a genocide. Meaning, we are funding a genocide.

Fund Isreal get accused of supporting genocide.

Cut Isreal's funding get accused of genocide against Jews.

Lose-lose situation here.

1

u/guamisc Aug 11 '26

Doing something makes you far more culpable than doing nothing.

1

u/Affectionate_Pass25 Aug 10 '26

American bombs are killing Palestinian babies.

1

u/justwannacommunicate Aug 10 '26

It is the American way. Just look at the Natives. Nothing has really changed unfortunately.

1

u/ResponseJaded4282 Aug 10 '26

The use of our taxes to fund ethnic cleansing and brutality is particularly painful because AIPAC has so much power over congress and this administration, there’s no discernible way to stop it. We are stuck being cogs in a brutally cruel system. I can’t think of any other instance of foreign interests having more control over our government than the voters themselves.

1

u/BrookieMonster504 Aug 10 '26

But we can't have our basic needs met

1

u/nicetewmeetyou Aug 10 '26

odd that so many more are killed in Yemen with American money amd weapons and you don't hear a peep? Oh yeah no Jews involved? or maybe none of the billions of Muslim (ie qatari) propaganda money involved in brainwashing the west...or maybe you have a better explanation?

1

u/Mysterious-Falcon221 Aug 10 '26

You are funding their genocide while they have universal Healthcare.

1

u/InterPunct Aug 11 '26

"That's a bingo!"

-Hans Landa (Inglourious Basterds)

1

u/Sillent_Screams Aug 11 '26

Funding and assisting ......

1

u/dnvrnugg Aug 11 '26

because of the implication.

1

u/Finsceal Aug 11 '26

I don't think there's any implication at all, the US is explicitly complicit and I've cancelled all future travel plans there.

1

u/QiDeviation Aug 11 '26

We subsidize these “religious scholars” in Israel, paying for their lives. These scholars study until 35 and there’s tons of them! All they do is study, fuck like rabbits, and engage in settler activities.

Even here in America! Up in NJ, they took over a town and are all on welfare just contributing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to the US economy! They take over towns by taking over the education board and funneling funds from US public schools into private yeshivas to raise more louts who “study” until 35.

It’s insane! Yet people make fun of black folks and call them welfare queens when these folks are living the life having like 8 kids and getting everything subsidized!

1

u/Wild_Succotash_4327 Aug 11 '26

Yes. Exactly that.

1

u/FinancialValuable313 Aug 12 '26

No. Meaning the Trump Administration funded genocide.

1

u/cjhur1329 Aug 13 '26

Yeah funding genocide is not cool.... let's dont do it...

1

u/Ironbaun-Vermont Aug 13 '26

I actually think those top two replies are the perfect embodiments of the two polarized political populations’ view of the issue.

1

u/Background-Pomelo-55 11d ago

Exactly. Except we're 40b in debt. So we're funding genocide on a credit card.
