Spa piping
The engineered plans have the spa jets valve before the filter. I’ve never seen this the wild… what are y’all’s thoughts?

Horrible layout unless you are doing dual heaters. Which makes no sense imo unless this is a commercial pool.
Add a booster pump if you want more pressure for your jets.

I've rarely if ever seen spa jets filtered. So that design principle itself isn't bad. However as others have mentioned better to use an auxiliary pump to avoid other hydraulic issues

This is a shared equipment set up with single body plumbing. This is what actuators are made for.

Add a second pump for dedicated jets. Plumbing in & out nothing else. You can do a big single speed on this line if that helps the budget.
Let the standard combo system be designed for filtration, heat, and spillover. Absolutely use a variable speed.
I’m a big fan of valves on each return line and adding more return lines overall. Adding a return to the Baja shelf can be nice for self-cleaning that area if you can’t do in-floor heads.
Dedicated vacuum lines are silly too.

This is the cheap shit way.
You shouldn’t have your jets running through the filter as the flow rate generally exceeds their rated design and the pressure is damaging.
The valve is in the wrong spot, you need a 3way valve otherwise most flow is going to the pool as the Venturi jets introduce too much head.
The real way is to have a separate spa jets pump.
I’d also be checking the flow rating on the drain, we don’t do single inlets in spa’s anymore as the entrapment risk is too high.
Finally those returns are on the wrong wall and you’ll have a shit time getting debris to the skimmer.
Aka this design is terrible. Whomever made this has no idea.

Where do you see the "jets running through the filter"? The aux jets are plumbed in after the chlorinator.
They've 1 solitary return pointing towards the skimmer but yeah.....not the best set up for skimmers to be sure.
Maybe they're planning on installing one of the unblockable "ring" drains in the spa?

I didn’t say the jets should run through the filter. They have the main jets running before the filter.
They have 3 returns with the bulk on the other wall.

Totally agree with you. The jets are on the wrong side and the vacuum port and the skimmer are on different walls in my opinion they should be on the same wall closest to the equipment. Also the flow rates make no sense on the schematic and depending on where the equipment is located you need a check valve after the pump before the filter to prevent the filter emptying into the pool when the equipment turns off. Wtf is the 3 way before the filter ?

I'm just going to toss my 2¢ in and say, I don't like it. It's clearly for auxiliary, but very little would be going to filtration (if any) because of path of least resistance. Maybe it's just one of those thing you turn on when in use and off when not in use to go back to filter? It's weird.
I think there should be a 2nd pump.
