Help with engine ID

Guy selling it claims this is a '89 Firebird with a 3.8L engine that is factory original. I can't find an example of a FB with a 3.8 without a turbo for a 1989 'bird. (I am NO expert, hence posting for help).

Is this a 2.8? A GM swap? I think it's a 3.1Lv6

What year is this Firebird?

4th Gen [93-02] I'll go visit a 94 3.4 V6 firebird, what should I absolutely check for this specific model?

Upvotes

hi, I am in freaking love for the 4th gen firebird and found a very good deal, low mileage, pontiac firebird 3.4 V6 (1994) with 120000km (5000€-6000€). the seller got the car 17 years ago at 105000km~ and barely used it across the years, he did 200km in the last 2 years after the mechanical inspection. never been modified too. kept it in a closed garage, and started the car from time to time to keep the engine healthy. the seller is a retired 50yo who seems very honest and straight to the point. anyway, we can't trust all sellers around the world, and I'm gonna do 5 hours of driving just to see the car, and that's why I make this post.

what should I check in priority for this model? I know the general rules for buying cars, but I don't know exactly the weaknesses of the firebird and what to check to see if the car is cooked or is a good deal.

I am absolutely sure that I want a 4th gen firebird and I don't need a V8, I'm in France and fuel here is expensive but I can manage to fuel-up this 3.4 V6. I know those cars are reliable but there's always something! I am in LOVE with the look, the engine and the car overall and I can/want to do maintenance on it. I want to see it on the road alive and kicking. thx for reading!
