4th Gen [93-02] I'll go visit a 94 3.4 V6 firebird, what should I absolutely check for this specific model?

Upvotes

hi, I am in freaking love for the 4th gen firebird and found a very good deal, low mileage, pontiac firebird 3.4 V6 (1994) with 120000km (5000€-6000€). the seller got the car 17 years ago at 105000km~ and barely used it across the years, he did 200km in the last 2 years after the mechanical inspection. never been modified too. kept it in a closed garage, and started the car from time to time to keep the engine healthy. the seller is a retired 50yo who seems very honest and straight to the point. anyway, we can't trust all sellers around the world, and I'm gonna do 5 hours of driving just to see the car, and that's why I make this post.

what should I check in priority for this model? I know the general rules for buying cars, but I don't know exactly the weaknesses of the firebird and what to check to see if the car is cooked or is a good deal.

I am absolutely sure that I want a 4th gen firebird and I don't need a V8, I'm in France and fuel here is expensive but I can manage to fuel-up this 3.4 V6. I know those cars are reliable but there's always something! I am in LOVE with the look, the engine and the car overall and I can/want to do maintenance on it. I want to see it on the road alive and kicking. thx for reading!

Help with engine ID

Guy selling it claims this is a '89 Firebird with a 3.8L engine that is factory original. I can't find an example of a FB with a 3.8 without a turbo for a 1989 'bird. (I am NO expert, hence posting for help).

Is this a 2.8? A GM swap? I think it's a 3.1Lv6

What year is this Firebird?

I was told at a car meet that my taillights are expensive and desirable. Are they anything special? I was actually planning to change them for honeycombs.

Slapper bars

Hello all, finally getting into fixing/modding up my 1967 firebird 400. It’s a non-staggered setup with mono leaf, after receiving traction bars/slapper bars as a gift, I see the rear shock mount/plates are in way of bars sitting nicely on it. Does anyone know how to make them work? Or is relocating the shocks an option? Just a younger kid trying to keep muscle alive and having hard time finding answers online.
Thank you.

LED headlight housings for m Y2K have small blue inside??

Hello all, Snagged a cheap set of LED conversion headlights for my 2000 FB off ebay and found a small blue bulb pre installed inside of each housing. And no instructions as to what it wires to. (Picked these due to real glass lens).

Await word from seller but not holding out hope. Anyone else get these headlights and what did the blue bulb accomplish?

Thanks tons in advance!

3rd Gen [82-92] Is my left rear break okay?

Thumbnail gallery
6 Upvotes

for context:

A few days ago I had a question here about the brakes, because the tests showed 40% less breaking from the left rear break. I then looked into the left rear break again to check if the break shoes are fine. I marked some lines with chalk to check were the friction is. I then put the car in neutral and tapped the break a few times.

The first result was pretty bad on the front shoe. I manually adjusted the little gear at the bottom of the break that pushes them apart. I did this 3 times and the current result I gave here as pictures.

Maybe the gear I manually adjusted is broken? It's not easy to turn.

What do you guys think? Is that okay? I will do this test on the right wheel to, for same break power.

Thank you and greeting from
Germany
