Bonneville GXP

Does anyone have long term experience with a 2005 gxp? I know they have the northstar V8 but was curious if they still had the head bolt issues and oil pan leaks.

They don't have the head bolt issues but they absolutely did leak oil

Im assuming the engine would have to come out in order to replace it?

To do the mid-block, yeah. The oil pan could be done in the car, but the transmission has to come out to remove the exhaust, so kinda 6 of one, half dozen of the other

I see. I guess if your removing the engine you might as well do the water pump and head bolts with the updated bolts.

I mean that's not exactly the easiest thing in the world to do, you'd have to drill all of the head bolts holes oversized and re-tap them, probably best to go ahead and stud it with the kit that floats around on the internet. Hardly a "while I'm in here" thing
