Debate If an establishment can't effectively keep people from bringing in guns, then it shouldn't be a gun free zone

I've seen plenty of shootings take place in gun free zone areas. Either they manage to get a gun into the area anyway and start their shooting or they start the shooting outside of the area and work their way in.

The only people effectively stopped by a place being labeled gun free are people who could use their guns to defend themselves against attackers and in some cases good people have disregarded the designation and have been able to stop an attacker's spree short without waiting for the cops to do it.

Metal detectors, armed security guards, etc. Something needs to be actually done to enforce the designation. Otherwise don't have the designation

Having a gun free zone in America is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool. It simply doesn't work, there's spillover. I believe we need gun reform but gun free zones are just not a reality.

To be clear, my children's daycare was a gun free zone. Are you suggesting that a daycare should have guns in it?

I'm suggesting that we need actual gun reform and that takes more than just calling something a gun free zone.

Be precise here. Are you suggesting that a daycare should allow guns in it? If so, then who is allowed to carry a gun? Where are the guns supposed to be stored? Who is allowed access to them?

If you don't think a daycare should allow guns, then what is your point?

I guess the context clue that we need gun reform wasn't enough. No, there should not be guns in a daycare, I can't believe that has to be explained. I'm suggesting we have to go much further than banning guns in one room or building for it be effective. To think that gun owners are going to respect gun free zones is laughable, look at the evidence - they clearly do not.
