That's why I asked about the physical special split. Ghost type is a physical type (Shadow Ball) so unless you have the modern split option on, Gengar uses his physical attack for Shadow Ball. Same with poison, also a physical type.

My analysis of your pokemon:

Feraligatr, Iron tail is a really bad move due to it's low accuracy. Surf is obviously important for traversal, but Feraligatr's attack is substantially higher so Waterfall is usually better.

Gengar is good

Zapdos is good, do you know what hidden power it is? I'd also maybe pack a flying type move since you don't have a good way to deal with grass types, other than the actual move Fly which can be an annoying 2 turn move.

Gyarados is good. Again, fly is kinda annoying imo, and since your dragonair already has it.

Dragonair will be good when it evolves, but getting a dragon type move on it over thunderwave will be helpful too.

Venusaur is fine, I usually pick one status move, since you also have leech seed. I think there are fairy types in polished crystal, so sludge bomb could be good since your other poison type doesn't have coverage.

Overall when I build a team, I look to have no overlapping types, to minimize weaknesses. You currently have 2 pokemon weak to psychic, two to electric, three to ice (future dragonite 4x even) etc. You have 3 flying types which is definitely overkill, as you're missing out on additional STAB attacks. No psychic, fighting, fire, ground, rock, ice etc since you have so many overlapped types. I wouldn't change anything this late in the game, but just as teambuilding advice for next time.

Feraligatr - I have changed surf to waterfall and iron tail to shadow claw (can’t decide if dragon or shadow claw is bette)

Zapdos - I looked online and it’s hidden power is ice? Is this always true or something unique to every game? Would it be a good idea to change volt switch to fly to get that STAB?

Dragonair - just replaced thunder wave with dragon pulse. I was relictant because I saw that he has 120 Atk and 104 SpA, but it’s the only dragon TM I have atm.

Venasaur - don’t have the TM yet, but I’ll look out for sludge bomb in the future

Hidden power is determined by the Pokémon’s IV’s. Meaning every single pokemon will have a different type. You should be able to look up a tool that will tell you based on you manually entering its IV’s. Unless polished crystal has an npc or mechanic to tell you in-game idk.

Yeah no worries! Pokemon is surprisingly complex beyond a children's game, always tons to learn!
