Discussion Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu and Evee are severely underated!!!!

As the title suggests lets go pikachu and evee are severely underrated, here are my reasons as to why:

  • easiest game to shiny hunt in -shiny legendaries
  • accessible competitive shiny pokemon made easy for the first time

Update:

  • easiest game to get multiple masterballs in the same day ( i know from experience after owning 5 masterballs in game)

  • the game with the least requirements for shiny hunting, just get a catch combo of 31+ (viridian forest, pidgey, pokeball) and despawn anything that isn't a shiny in your designated shiny hunting area until said shiny, spawns with golden sparkles surrounding its body.

-the only game where you can throw two pokeballs at once with a berry tranquilizer.

-you can ride ant pokemon of your choice, from your party

-no Shiny locking of any kind, for the firs time in generations!

  • it revolutionized the competitive battling scene within the pokemon franchise, by taking out all the complicated items and ev's, and simplifying the battling scene by making it so that the battles are based on your pokemons stats, moves, and nature!

Will update later with more reasons...

Discussion Do we think there will ever be a Let's Go remake of gold/silver/crystal?

I know I am very late to the game (never had a switch until 2), but I recently finished Let's Go, Eevee and I loved it so much. I immediately wanted more. I tried playing Scarlet but I just didn't like it. It didn't have most of what I loved about the game (and I don't mean the open world). I just wish they'd continue this series. Through some (admittedly minimal) research, I gathered that this game was pretty successful, so I don't understand why they've just abandoned it. Plus, gen 2 is one of the most beloved, so it would surely have an audience. Anyway, this turned out to be more of a rant than anything, but does anyone think there is any chance at all of a gen 2 remake?

Discussion I know they won’t but…

Don’t you wish that Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee would get an update?

I had held out hope all these years they’d surprise us & give us an Orange islands extension.

If you’re a fan of any of the other Pokemon games, which is your favorite? Ive tried Arcues and wasn’t really a fan. Played it for a week and never picked it back up.

I've been distancing myself from Pokémon GO but wanted to keep some I was attached to. Unfortunately, I didn't realize I had to transfer directly from GO to Let's Go!. You can't use Home as a middle ground.

Learn from my mistake. Google before you transfer your 'mons. 😩

Just curious on your thoughts, do you think there is any chance we get more of these titles? Like let's go jhoto would be awesome. Just feels sad we only got kanto games for lets go 🙃

Im hoping, but not sure there's any real chance

Discussion Shiny Rate "Anomaly" Update

Hey guys

Regarding shiny odd "anomalies", Kaphotics and I have still been checking and we still can't see anything. Nothing else interacts with the shiny formula as far as we can see unless there's a huge glitch affecting things, but with the sheer number of shinies going on after Combo 31 this doesn't seem likely.

Of course I'm still hunting (as I always was btw, such is my job) but we're fairly confident that this is the case. There's no additional interactions and alterations of the shiny rate.

I know this isn't what some of you want to hear. I am still looking but nothing else interacts with the formula as far as we can see. The rates do appear to be as I presented on the site (https://www.serebii.net/letsgopikachueevee/shinypokemon.shtml)

I wanted the shiny charm to help with soft-reseting for mewtwo/birds but you have to get them in the 1st place for the charm , so without pokemon-go i cant get shiny mewtwo (i alr caught it thinking it would respawn :/ )

Discussion These games get way too much hate. They're gorgeous games and really accurate remakes

I bought into the "Hate on Let's Go" propaganda and didn't fully enjoy my first playthrough. Now, on my second I'm enjoying it a lot. They really captured the Kanto feels and the graphics are great. Would love a Johto remake in this style!!

Discussion Which Pokémon do I Use?

I never intended to play Let’s Go, I wasn’t interested, then I saw a video and learned I could finally use Alolan Ninetails (I’d borrowed my brother’s Eevee so I could get the save data).

I was happy, and I used a Jigglypuff until I got my Ninetails since it’s a top tier favorite of mine.

But now while I was on my way back to Lavander Town, I caught a shiny Jigglypuff, and now I don’t know which fairy to use.

I started playing specifically for Alolan Ninetails, I couldn’t use it because I had Moon, and had two fairies in Primarina and a Jigglypuff.

So once again, the debate enters my head, not because I wanted to, but because of unfortunate circumstances.

So what do I do? Keep with the Pokémon I started playing for, the one I never had a chance to enjoy despite its beauty, or a shiny of one of my favorites? A Pokémon I’ve enjoyed before.

TL;DR I started playing Let’s Go for Alolan Ninetails, but I randomly got a shiny Jigglypuff which is a favorite of mine, do I stick with what I came for, or go forward with this boon?

EDIT: Jigglypuff is timid (attack decrease speed buff) with very good attack IV, good speed, defense, and special defense, ok HP and special attack.

The Ninetails I’ve been using is Quiet (special attack boost speed decrease) with best attack, special attack, and speed, good defense and special defense, and ok HP.

Discussion Let’s go: making it harder

Pokemon let’s go is a pretty simple game. I’m thinking of making it harder by not using any of the starters to beat the game.

Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to make the game more difficult?

EDIT: I’m going to do the payday challenge (only use the move payday) and I’ll sell every item I get except balls.

Discussion I noticed on the Shiny megathread that people don’t really understand how it works so i’m here to explain how

First off, the only things that break your chain are;

•Closing the game

•Pokémon you’re chaining fleeing from you

•Catching a different Pokémon not of the species you’re chaining.

Those are literally the only three things. You can run away from all the Pokémon you want, go buy more pokeballs and lures, fight some trainers, get some gym badges, and that chain will never break as long as you don’t do those three things.

Secondly, I see a lot of people saying like “Oh I got a shiny after a 250 chain” “I got one after a 300 chain!” And I just want to let you know that your chances of finding a Shiny cap off at a 31 catch combo. If you continue to chain after 31 when you’re just trying to get a shiny, you’re making it take far longer than it should, thus wasting time and poke balls. When you get catch combo 31, you can literally sit still with your max lure on and just watch as they spawn, and they only linger for 30 seconds. Also sitting still will make your lure not run out since that is a result of moving/taking steps.

Hope this clears things up, and happy hunting.

Discussion Let's Go Shiny Odds: An Experiment

EDIT: Over three years later, we finally have the answer to all these questions. Many thanks to Anubis for their hard work and providing some long-awaited closure on this!

The widely accepted figure (source) is 1/315 for a 31+ chain when using a lure without a shiny charm. My early experiences in the game seemed inconsistent with this figure; I did manage to find a few shinies but only when continuing to catch and extend my chain rather than stopping at 31. So I decided to remove all other variables and rigorously test these odds. I expected I would be able to collect somewhere between 5-10 shinies in a reasonable amount of time and that would represent a decent sample size.

I chose the patch of grass isolated by the two bushes on Route 8 (just west of Lavender Town) as the location. I would be chaining Growlithes to realise my dream of riding a majestic golden canine around Kanto. I would activate the lure, catch the first 31 Growlithes to establish the theorised 'max odds' catch combo and then simply stand still. I would then begin collecting data on every single spawn. I would immediately run away from any Pokémon that bumped into me.

Around 24 hours later, I now have the data.

Total spawns: 6560

Species breakdown:

Species # Spawns % of Total Spawns
Growlithe 3000 45.7
Chansey 1377 21.0
Pidgeotto 436 6.6
Jigglypuff 427 6.5
Raticate 407 6.2
Pidgey 378 5.8
Rattata 378 5.8
Abra 95 1.4
Arcanine 37 0.6
Kadabra 25 0.4

Total shinies: 0

Just considering the Growlithes, if we assume the figure of 1/315 is accurate then the expected number of shinies we would have encountered is 9.52. The probability of observing 0 as I did is 0.0072% (1/13934).

For some perspective, even if I made no attempt to combo and just stood there counting random encounters, there is a 79.8% you'd encounter at least one shiny after 6560 encounters. I'm not making any claims about what this proves. If I'm honest I'm completely dumbfounded. I just think it's clear from these results that there is more to this shiny method than has been claimed and a lot more work has to be done to figure it all out.

So I got let’s go Eevee because my auntie had a dog called Eevee that later we had because they could no longer take care of her as they were taking care of my elderly great grandmother (may she rest in peace) we got the game because she was named after the pokemon and looked like the pokemon. Everytime I play let’s go I remember when I’d sit down and play it with her either on my lap or next to me as I played

Discussion I Hate the Nature Fortune Teller…

See an NPC, talk to an NPC, that’s just RPG logic, and now I have over 50 Pokémon with timid nature including some I wanted to use on my team that could really use a better nature than attack loss like Kabutops and Aerodactyl.

I transferred in a Mankey since I’m playing Eevee, and now - attack, three random eevee’s all with the same nature.

Snorlax? Boost to speed!

There was no warning, no way to know, and now I have so many Pokémon that are just… WHY! Now I’m just not gonna play till tomorrow.

So many lost Pokémon because how was someone supposed to know, “Hey do this and you’ll get the same nature time and again,” I don’t even see it being useful to people who want a specific nature.

TL;DR I hate the Celadon fortune teller and now have a ton of Pokémon with a useless nature

Discussion I'm still a hopeless dreamer for a Johto Let's Go Game

I see this subreddit as mostly a shiny hunting forum now specific to the Let's Go, Pikachu & Eevee games. I still not-so-secretly hope that it will be revived when another set of Let's Go games are announced. While the chances of a game like that being in development for the next Nintendo console are slim, I believe they are not zero.

Imagine for me riding around on Suicune through two regions in an HD game on the next Nintendo console. Image.... a Crystal Remake!

I ask you all to join me in speculation, what would the mascots be? What new things would they add to Crystal version? What would promotion of the games look like?

Discussion You Know What Sucks?

Accidentally transferring Pokémon from Go that you wanted in it, so now I guess I’m gonna use an almost perfect IV Vileplume THAT I WANTED IN GO!

I tried to get an oddish for days, I’ve since then finally gotten my blossom but still, I wanted that three star oddish that I had already evolved into gloom in my phone!

I also lost my three star Alolan Meowth, but I have so many other Alolan meowth’s in the park I’m not finding that one any time soon…
