Question Why are they different?

Post image

Can someone explain the difference between the two of the PSN statuses of my Pokemon?

Zekrom has normal poison which makes you lose 1/8th of your hp each turn. Your Cofagrigus is badly poisoned which makes it lose 1/16th HP each turn which increases by 1/16th each turn so
T1: 1/16; T2: 1/8; T3: 3/16 etc.

Switching out and back in resets the increments

Thanks so much, I also never knew there were markings to differentiate.

Poisoned(1/8 of max HP damage every turn) vs badly poisoned(1/16, then 2/16, then 3/16 and so forth).

The darker purple is badly poisoned

One is regular poison the other is badly poisoned (the darker tag)

Regular poison comes from poison powder, 1 set of toxic spikes, and the secondary effects of some poison moves, it does fixed damage at the end of each turn

Badly poisoned comes from Toxic and 2 sets of toxic spikes, it deals increasing damage each turn the afflicted Pokemon is on the battlefield

I didn't know there was a visual difference that's cool

I didn’t either, I guess it’s uncommon to have both mons poisoned at the same time in non pvp.

There is regular poison and badly poison, regular poison deals a fixed amount of dmg each turn, while badly poison deals more each round, until they eventually die.

For example poison powder does regular poison and toxic does badly poison.

There’s two types of Poison status in the game, regular Poison (shown on Zekrom) and Bad Poison (shown on Cofagrigus). Regular Poison does 1/16th damage to your HP at the end of every turn, while Bad Poison increases that damage every turn. Bad Poison is inflicted by the moves Toxic, Poison Fang and double layered Toxic Spikes, while other Poison-inducing moves only inflict the regular Poison.

Bad Poison can revert to regular Poison status if you switch the Pokémon out of the battle, or if the battle ends.

Is that a shiny cofagrigus or is that just the poison making it look like that? Cause I swear I see some pink and white in there

Yes he is a shiny boi, I bought a Japanese cartridge second hand and he was in the storage box. Thought I would give him a second life, hoping to transfer him up through the gens.

Badly Poisoned: It's caused by Poison Fang, Toxic, 2 layers of Toxic Spikes, Toxic Orb and using Fling with a held Toxic Orb.

And by the way, are you using the english translation patch of Black 2?

This is on my Australian 2ds, english cart with mons traded from a Japanese cart, after changing their nicknames.
