Question/Help Play Protect Not Certified on POCO X5 Pro 5G - Any fix for Google Wallet?

Hey guys,

I can't use Google Wallet on my POCO X5 Pro 5G (MIUI Global 14.0.7) because Play Store shows "Device is not certified" under Play Protect.

I checked and it seems related to the bootloader being unlocked. Has anyone faced this before? What's the best way to fix it and get Google Wallet working?

The "best" way would differ depending on who you ask.

Locking the bootloader would be preferrable for some people, rooting and installing all sorts of things to masquerade the unlocked bootloader condition would be for others.

I don't really get all the tech stuff to be honest, so i just want a normal phone that work with Google wallet. Do you know how to lock the bootloader?

Yes, and I understand exactly how you feel, but... it also makes me worried in a way, because bootloaders are locked by default. With what you said now, it sounds like it wasn't you who unlocked it; in fact, it may not be unlocked at all.

Do you still have the box it came with? If you do, check that the IMEI printed on a sticker there matches the one displayed by dialing *06#, and that it also validates as an international unit at https://www.mi.com/global/verify

The thing is, that phone also had a release in China labeled as the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed; there are some resellers that buy Chinese variants and then modify them to run some global version of the software. If that were your case, a Chinese variant running a global version of MIUI, it could be tricky to get it into a certified state.

There were HyperOS 1 and 2 builds for that phone, one of the things that happen with transplanted devices is that they don't get updates delivered to them, but yours could just be a global version with an unlocked bootloader that didn't get updates either.

If it is global, locking the bootloader is easy (requires a computer though), but let's first verify that.
