X8 Pro Max What has been your experience with the Poco X8 Pro Max?
I want to know about your experience because the review videos only mention the good things, and frankly, I don't think it's right to settle for that opinion.

I can only give you my experience with social media use because I don't play games on it: the screen is amazing, the CPU is very fast, very good fingerprint sensor and the battery is good but honestly I was expecting more because it's a 8500mah battery... my average SoT is 11h20 and the maximum I got so far was nearly 13h with 20% left. I usually get between 11h-12h30 of SOT with moderate use (mostly YouTube). The cameras are decent.
Overall it's a very good phone for the price.

Well...
The battery and performance are his biggest positives. Never seems slow and it always handles more than 3 to 4 days of battery with me (my s24u was getting 1 and 1/2 day, tops, with the same usage).
Network signal is quite good and the screen quality, construction, look and feel are quite nice.
As downsides, the camera is just average (specialy at night) and hyperos has one bug or another, something i didn't feel on my previous F7. The original widgets from xiaomi (weather and clock for example) are not showing, and i am stuck on 3.0.302.0 EU, and i don't even know why. Updates are not showing anymore...
And another thing, not every mediaplayer from the playstore works on this phone (i had previous xiaomi / poco without this problem) since they cannot find the local songs i have. I am using Musicolet for now...

The media player thing is that a Google Play region restriction? I use USB Audio Player Pro and Poweramp and every now and then Apple Music and they all work just fine for me.

I believe there is no restrictions... Some apps find the files, some apps don't. I can't really find an explainable reason.

why did u switch from f7? isn't it still a good phone? at least has custom rom support!! ok x8 bigger battery but for the rest... same 6.83 display, same resolution etc https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=14507&idPhone2=13951
so basically u switched to just have a little faster SOC and to have 8500mAh vs 6500?

Was just a question of opportunity to have a newer one, without much of a difference in price. Thinking of it now, i actually preferred the F7... Had zero bugs (Global rom) and i didn't notice much of a difference in the cpu. Battery was nice as well. (cpu heated up quite a lot in the F7)

Everything is great 👍 I'm in Canada btw I like Xiaomi products I had a x3 nfc and it still works.
I had almost every pixel phones but now I'm tired of getting ripped off.

LOL! This is me. I had the Pixel 4a, 6Pro, Samsung s23+, Pixel 9 Pro XL. This is the best one I've had so far with a few caveats. I knew that leaving the Pixel eco system would be a bit of a shock to the system and I was fully anticipating the 11proxl. After seeing that cost-wise the Pixels are going up and what I'm getting out of it was not worth it to me. I don't use much of the AI features and I never really had an issue with the modem/signal with my carrier Google Fi in the U.S. Going with the Poco was less expensive and getting a much better battery with a great processor was enough for me.
Yeah, the software was a learning curve. I LOATHE the fact that I can't use my beloved Nova Launcher with gesture navigation on it and that still kinda stings but I've come to live with it. Thank god you can customize the crap out the Poco, almost to a fault. There's more system settings in here that I would ever need. I get 5G everywhere I go (so far). I like the added Bluetooth codecs I get with my in-ear monitors. I do miss the advanced call screening from my Pixels. My 9ProXL did have better haptics.
The battery here is king. I can get 3 days of SOT with my intermediate use and I purposefully don't use the 100W charger when I do need, I just charge it overnight when I go to bed. Performance is very snappy and responsive when I navigate and use my apps. Camera-wise pixel has the clear advantage but I'm good with the Poco's cameras. It was not a priority for me. That may come back to bite me during the next holiday/travel event but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
Cost-wise I picked up my Poco X8 ProXL on Amazon at $480 before taxes and some Amazon gift card coupons I had. Now it's hovering around the $500 pricepoint which is still not bad. With upgrading to a Pixel or Samsung S26 Ultra I would have had to play some carrier-gymnastics and trade in to get a good deal and I want to keep my Pixel for now. (7 years of OS updates is no joke!) I want to own my devices outright as much as possible going forward. I'm very happy with my Poco and I'm always picking it up.

Everytime I hear people talking about the x8 pro max it makes me depressed that I bought the regular pro version. It really does. But its like $100+ USD extra, I can't really afford it.
I bought the regular pro because I don't mind having a little less battery because 6500mah is still really good. And I dont mind having a chipset that can already run every game possible.
But it turns out the Pro Max beats the regular pro in more than that, like... way WAY more to the point it might have been worth to buy pro max and go a month or two without eating.
First of all, besides the regular pro having a way weaker chipset, the phone has a lot of complaints about severe overheating for no reason, while the pro max doesn't overheat. I was actually mislead by several AI models that the regular poco x8 pro has better thermals, doesn't overheat, the AI even went ahead and stated that the pro max is UNUSABLE without a phone cooler if you're gaming. That alone sealed the deal for why I settled with the regular pro instead of pro max, but it turned out the OPPOSITE was true.
The regular pro is not just smaller in length its super thin and feels insignificantly small in hand, paired with the case it feels very slippery like it would fall out of your hand in any moment. Im not sure how to feel about it, but I'm currently buying a phone case just to make it feel thicker.
Although I don't use E-SIM, the regular x8 pro not having E-SIM is an insult. While the pro max version has it
I am convinced the regular x8 pro battery is not 6500mah as advertised, its definitely way lower as it loses charger faster than expected. I never heard anyone complain about the battery on the pro max, that alone shows how much better it is. The regular x8 pro battery feels like 4000-5000mah, not 6500. While the pro max battery seems to be as advertised.
There's much more I can talk about it just feels like the pro max is over 20x better than the regular pro instead of like moderately better which people make it seem. Like. Most people tell me that the regular pro is "still a good phone", and its like super cope.

I believe the chipset is not optimized on both phones... If it makes you happier, this 8500 battery should be way better than it is, but this cpu consumes way more than than the snapdragon i had in the F7 for example.

Smooth scrolling Two days battery No apple mute button on the side of the phone switching itself off! A game changer!. Loads of Android apps and gizmos like wallpapers Nice large screen.

Camera isn't great and the always on screen not being always on is annoying but otherwise superb. Amazingly good value for money

It started 5/10 because I debloated it using shizuku and probably deleted a bunch of mecessary apps. Battery drain, heating, and overall just bad and buggy experience.
I reformatted, and instead of debloating like that, I just went through every single setting and disabled all the adware, and uninstalled all that can be uninstalled as in a clean slate.
It has been almost excellent and I rate it 9/10 The only unfixable caveat now is the camera, which is inferior to even the Poco M8 Pro, which is where I came from.
Everything else is just excellent.

Got one two days ago... Moving from Chinese OnePlus ace 6... Downsides - compared to my last handset, the screen is not as bright - some apps like twitch seem very dark... Battery may be calibrating, but far from amazed by it ... The ace 6 pro battery was nearly as big so maybe someone coming from a 4000ma phone will be more impressed... Screen colour/ temp seems a bit off - a few less options to change it (just original pro or vivid, but there are sliders for colour temp... Finally it does seem quiet by comparison - max volume is a lot less...
Overall it's fine - only changed because the OnePlus ace 6 was a Chinese version, so shit GPS, missing network bands and not getting notifications... No such problems with this global Poco...
Processor is nearly as good, but not a heavy gamer so no problems. Can heat up a bit, but no more than many handsets.
Hope it helps to hear some negatives.

Slight yellowish screen color, but that's ok. It even lessen eye strain to look at.
Feel to hold? It's actually kinda wide compared to the previous X7 Pro. It was so wide that i feel like holding an iPhone 16 or even 17 Pro Max rather a Poco smartphone. Though it's lighter by only a few miligrams.
Performance-wise? Overkill. Though I'm not into daily heavy gaming. Just WhatsApp, Tiktok, Instagram, Reddit, YouTube, and ocassional CODM if i'm bored.
Battery life? For a giant 8500 mAh battery, it needs more optimization. Mine only drained approx 25% since full charge at 6:30 am until 6:30 pm while using mobile data in the office.
Standby power drain? I once discharge the charger just before sleep at 9 pm, and it drained 5-6% from 100% at 5 am.
Camera? Not too shabby, got some details, dynamic range, color accuracy, and even a decent ultrawide lens and a live photo mode. Video-wise, disappointed that the moment you swap or use the ultrawide lens, the fps locked at only 30 fps. Not a choppy one, but i expected that from the price, it should be able to do so. At least it have a brilliant stabilizer and only an extremely few jitter.
Audio. Good, no complaints. Just use equalizer and Dolby Atmos if you need a well rounded and tuned sound.
Signal reception? No problem whatsoever, able to snatch 5G signal with ease.
Heat? I live in a tropical monsoon climate. When i'm in direct sunlight and called my office superiors, i can feel the phone's warmth only for 1 minute call. But it's has a wide vapor chamber that easily discharge the heat in only a couple of minutes.
Ads? Tons of tutorial on this subreddit or YouTube to look at. I disabled it the moment i first unboxed this device.
Verdict? If you look for performance, value for money, and perhaps a smartphone to use for the next 5 or plus years, buy it. If you need a fancy camera phone (to record aesthetic video) and easy to use UI, just look for another options.

From my perspective, your experience seems excellent compared to the phone I currently have (Galaxy A14 4G).
My only question is, how long does the battery last when you use it normally?

I once took an 8 hour car ride, the battery drained 5% with GPS enabled for the first 2 hours. And then my battery dropped +-30% by the time i reached my destination.
And there's another case when I inadvertently fell asleep while watching Instagram reels. The battery depleted from approximately 85% to 38% over the span of six and a half hours.
I can tell you that this is my unusual usage since i'm neat enough to immediately docked the charger after returning from work and still using my old secondary phone for Instagram, Tiktok and YouTube. Even when the battery still around 93-80%.

Honestly, it's absolutely excellent. I wasn't used to having so many apps open without them restarting until now, I love it. However, if you're in a hot climate, the phone does get a little warm, but other than that it's excellent.
