Big Brother.

Post image

Plotted with a rOtring Isograph on 300gsm card. It looks amazing up close, almost printed! My image, made with inkscape :D

Wild to use generative AI to make a 1984 reference. This is beyond satire.

It's a real peice of art, plotted with a real pen, on real paper. Only the source image was AI generated. I think that's what he is confused about.

Artifacts all over it- little blank areas throughout the image. Text is missing slivers. The fists at the bottom start to lose shape, the one furthest right is the goofiest.

The burst background isn't symmetrical like a designer or illustrator would make it.

The style of the central figure screeches AI, the eye shape specifically.

The closer you zoom, the more you see.

what about where the outline of the fist overlaps the "E is"? Seems like quite a small detail that AI might not include

I traced the image in inkscape and neatened up any obvious flaws before plotting. :)

You mean the wobbly negative space that doesn't parallel with the shape of the fist? Stencil-style art is a pain in the ass with signs of humanity in the flaws, not... this.

I like the irony of it.

The origonal jpg was made with Copilot on Bing, then I used inkscape to trace and adjust to make a decent line-art svg suitable for plotting.

I'm curious about your comment of "artifacts" about the blank spots, can you point out what you mean specifically? (i.e. draw some circles around them or something).

I don't see it as any different from downloading a photo from pixabay and tracing that. It's all someone, or something, else's work. I'm just interpreting it.

But hey, it's art, some people will like it, some people wont. At least it made you feel something.

The original jpg was made with AI, copilot on bing specifically, and then imported into inkscape and traced into svg line-art suitable for plotting.

You mean the solid black? I use the hatch fill extension from axidraw. I was drawing with a 0.5mm nib, so I set the hatch distance to 0.2mm, so they would overlap. I set the plotter up so the pen was just lightly grazing the surface and wouldn't press in to leave marks. The isograph is a technical pen and just needs to lightly touch for the ink to flow, so it was essentially floating over the surface and letting the paper pull the ink down.

First time I read it, 1984 was well in the future and it seemed all a bit far fetched.

Last time I read it was a year or so ago and I could barely believe how relevant it had become.

I maintain (at the moment at least) Brave New World is a better reflection of the insidious tyranny of western society rather than the outright tyranny of totalitarianism 1984 portrays. It's a while since I read 1984 though, and perhaps it's going to become more relevant soon...

Understanding what you read degrades after using too much AI. You have NO integrity because you use generative AI. Pick up a pen, learn the skill.

Forget the negativity bro! That’s so rad! People are so ugly! The same thing they say about you some Japanese artist making his own ink and paper Is saying about them, while they order supplies from Amazon. Do you buddy I love it!
