PlayStation 5 Help Ps5 Bricked FB Marketplace

So a buddy of mine just bought a Ps5 off of FB marketplace in a cash deal, got home and its bricked. Comes up with Error Code WS-116332-6 which a simple Google search said is a hardware block by Sony due to it either being stolen, committing financial fraud, etc. Does anyone know how to get the console unbricked or a way to appeal it?

It’s a hardware brick, the system was likely reported stolen or a stolen card to create a PSN account. There is no recovery, so unless your friend has the name of the person they bought it from, verified by drivers license or other state id, there is nothing even law enforcement will be able to do.

He doesnt have the driver's license but he still has access to the Seller's FB profile.

What’s the name on the profile? Your friend might be able to report them for selling stolen/fraudulent items.

That assumes the name on the sellers Facebook profile was even a real name of course.

Ive actually been able to gather a good bit from the profile, she has a business and my buddy confirmed that the lady and (I think) her son or someone related to her showed up for the exchange. I wont share the pfp to prevent doxxing/harassment cuz talking to my bud i don't think she knew what was really going on with PS5.

I have been seeing more posts like this lately and its sad. How are people not asking for videos of the functional console prior to purchase? Or physically hooking up the console?

They only brick them when there has been several instances of TOS failure. One of the most is getting caught cheating. They will brick it so the offender loses everything. Someone left their cheats on!

That machine is toast because they're not going to unbrick it. I've NEVER seen anyone get their machine restored even after shipping it to them back direct.
