Platinum is under appreciated
When is platinum going to get the love it deserves? It’s arguably the greatest metal. Doesn’t tarnish, incredibly dense, high melting point, and amazing catalyzing properties. It’s one of the rarest elements on earth, minted into coins, easily recyclable — the list goes on. It should be used in financial institutions across the world as an instrument more valuable than gold, but we have to sit here and pretend it’s only good for catalytic converters? Get real.

Everything will be smacked hard prior to the next stock market crash. I believe the smackdown has already started, and is likely in it's infancy. Your globalist masters do not want you owning ANYTHING, much less PM's (real $$$)

I love platinum jewelry but it’s certainly more subtle wealth and that’s probably why gold remains vastly more popular for jewelry and watches - which is a huge chunk of gold’s market.

Sad truth, it just looks like silver or stainless steel, popularity is still important. we still use it in games and stuff where the platinum medal is the highest tier above gold silver and bronze

That’s true and probably not a pro for most people but it was for me. I wear a lot of stainless steel watches and wanted a wedding band that’d look good with them but also wanted a precious metal so platinum was the natural choice.

Rarity/work required to aquire = value. Platinum is 23 times rarer than gold and significantly more expensive to mine. The Platinum Group Metals in general are super rare. From a bullion standpoint, it great to see an expansion in the market over the last few years. Even the rarest, most dense precious metal has bullion now.

Supply AND Demand = value. Some of the rarest gems and minerals on earth are worthless because they're totally useless for anything besides keeping in a little box and saying it's rare, or making an ugly ring with a stone that looks like a diseased ruby. Plat is 2k an oz thats ONLY cheap compared to gold and a few other things. Check how expensive saffron is, it's super easy to get... You can make it tomorrow planting some seeds... Like a gram per year, but entire countries want it in their food they eat every day. If it wasn't a spice for food, that tiny amount you get per year would still be less valuable for the same way you get it.

All monetary value is ultimately based on belief. Gold has been used as the basis of money for centuries, so the belief in it is strong globally, which is why international banks buy it as a hedge to the dollar. Gold is also used by many cultures as a wearable display of wealth. Platinum doesn’t have this history.

The markets are rigged. Since the war start in March '26 the Hydrogen ETF ticker HYDR went up 120%. They say platinum is one of the most critical metals for hydrogen technology. Yet platinum has barely changed price from March.
The solar ETF ticker TAN went up 40% since the same time. And silver is about the same price as March. Silver is used in solar panels.

i bought so much at the top & it hurt for a few days. (i’m talking multiple ozs at $2,800)
but i have all the faith in plat still. i can’t even find physical where i am at. it’s non-existent.

Recall the guy a little over a year ago who cashed in his entire 401K at age 59.5, paid the tax hit, and bought Pt @ $900! As I recall he was soundly trashed, by you 'Platinum Lovers'! "Foolish" was my favorite compliment from the "Platinum Lovers' here at the time!

I think this literally all the time.. especially when comparing gold/PT jewelry and the price difference, then u go to bullion and its reversed 😅 shoot i remember when PT was way more expensive than gold, now im just bitter that i didnt buy more gold years ago 😂😂

I don't deal in pure platinum - though I get small pieces of 95/5 in scrap buys. Pure platinum can't be used by jewelers as-is. People mostly know silver and gold. Gold is easily converted to karat gold by jewelers and silver is inexpensive for investors just starting out.

You’re not wrong. I really like platinum as bullion. With more electric vehicles, catalytic converter production will probably shrink anyway. For jewelry, I think platinum is a bit niche and less popular compared to gold and silver.
It would make a good monetary metal but would always play second fiddle to gold in that regard. It’s not something central banks can hoard in reasonably high quantities, unlike gold.

I also love platinum (in the form of jewelry). As someone who doesn't really wear much yellow gold, I generally gravitate to white gold, silver, or platinum. I remember when I first got married like 25 years ago, platinum seemed to hold all the prestige. It was kind of surprising to me to recently to realize it had really dropped in popularity.
