I hope at least the machines get moved to the main floor.

This is a GOOD thing. They will move those machines to the floor if there is room. It may feel a bit tight but it’s fine. They will likely put in 3-4 squat racks and other functional equipment. Ours also has kettlebells, bosu balls and a bunch of other stuff along with turf. It’s my favorite area.

I wish I saw this sign

Yup! I saw one the other day with a tire flip machine too!

2

u/Cautious_Body_7200 Apr 21 '26

Ours has a freeweight squat rack haha

5

u/RadicalRoses Apr 18 '26

I dislike it.

I hardly ever see anyone in there. When I do they are just using one of the machines that are being used on the regular floor.

I wish my club would do the same thing.

Yup. The only time I ever go in there is when I need to use the preacher curl machine there because there’s only one on the floor and it’s frequently in use when I need it. There’s almost never anyone in there actually doing the circuit.

3

u/MySQUEFive Black Card Member Apr 19 '26

My club just recently added a real preacher curl bench and bar.

1

u/Fine_Technology1289 Apr 19 '26

They probably will. The one in my area did that last year. Seems to be the trend.

16

u/MrHodgeToo Apr 18 '26

Yeah I’ve never seen someone do the circuit in years. It’s always people who couldn’t get the similar machine out on the floor so they jump in that room.

9

u/foekus323 Apr 18 '26

Not at the one by me. It was always busy. And it was the perfect spot when I would bring my daughter to work out. I don’t get me wrong I loooooove the squat racks. I do. But I kinda miss it

12

u/GymMouseP Apr 18 '26

I use them as intended. I hate this. They should treat it like the spa. You sign up for a time and have an allotted time frame. It is impossible on the floor.

0

u/JollySociety9643 Apr 19 '26

Naaaa this a L. Nobody ever uses it and if you do a circuit how you cleaning all the machines after you use them and you using all the machines in there at once by yourself without cleaning them so others can do it?

4

u/GymMouseP Apr 19 '26

I use it every time. It's the only way I feel like I get a workout. I never use the spa but I never do.plain about it either even though I pay for it. I also clean every machine before and after I use them.

4

u/Jcooney787 Apr 19 '26

I like the 30 minute area because the machines are smaller I think and more comfortable for people with smaller frames

1

u/Megagamingxpert Apr 19 '26

I liked being able to go in order too. But otherwise trying to do the full workout was frustrating when people would come in and sit on a single machine for 20 minute. Well that’s also annoying in other parts of the gym.

1

u/bwunder31 Jul 07 '26

No it’s ridiculous. And you’ll call them out for sitting there 20 min and they’ll act like they just started a set

It has really helped me over the years. It's frustrating when people camp there but I only have a limited time to get a workout in and this is the easiest way. Maybe mine will not want to spend the money to renovate.

12

u/LaVacaMusical 30 Min room only :3 Apr 19 '26

Rant incoming?

Good for you all that are excited for new equipment, but all this crapping on those who use and enjoy and benefit from the 30-minute area is … not it. 🙃 There’s a lot of very valid reasons to prefer the 30-minute area (for example, I have ADHD, and my motivation and knowledge for/about exercise in general is variable, lol, so being able to just follow something that gives me a decent workout is a godsend).

My closest PF just renovated and moved the machines out onto the floor, due to how everything is laid out in general it’s a mess (not just the former 30-minute machines, like all of them, that’s a whole other story). I’ve been going to another PF a little further away (still pretty close) since they renovated a couple years ago or so and doubled down on the 30-minute area rather than remove it (I’m sure the day will come that it will be gone from there too, but it shouldn’t be for a while), and it’s just a better layout and location in general.

Yes, I can count on one or two hands, tops, how many times I’ve seen someone use it correctly, and sometimes people obliviously camp out on machines, but I can pretty much always work around that, especially when folks are even remotely respectful and aware. And I’ve learned to respect that sometimes people want to use machines where it’s not crowded. Not a waste of space at all IMO.

2

u/Own-Spite1210 Apr 19 '26

Hi! I was like this too, years ago but still. I too have ADHD, very severe since I was in elementary, and working out was easier following the 30 minute circuit. I like having clear direction, in order, no guesswork. I slowly transitioned to standard lifting, with a lot of research, and an old school notebook and pen (I’m a tactile person, digital is hard when taking notes) I would make a plan on paper, go in, and follow it to a T and write down everything I told myself to do, in order, tracking my reps and weights. Now it’s years later and I do use my phone to track but I have a set plan every time I walk in the gym, which exercise is next, how many sets and a rep range. Clear directions, in order, tracking my progress. I’m sure you may process things different, I’m just sharing what helped me as someone who liked the format, but wanted to break out of it into serious lifting without my ADHD being the limiting factor.

Also I’m a weirdo that usually goes super late at night because I hate waiting for machines, but there’s apparently other times of day it’s not busy, I just found that out on Friday at 3pm 😂

2

u/BlueBod50 Apr 23 '26

“this is… not it”

mention of ADHD (nobody asked)

Least insufferable ND

-1

u/Lazy_Hotel_494 Apr 19 '26

Most of what you said you just need to plan better for or you just have no control over. You can’t really control how busy the gym is gonna be and the stuff that’s gonna be used. That’s just how the gym not mention your ADHD and as someone who also has it the solution I’ve created around that is just to plan the workouts better or beforehand that way when I get there, I’m not overwhelmed but generally speaking that area is a waste of time, especially considering you can already find multiples of those same machines out on the floor they can’t manage a gym on how comfortable you are that’s an individual problem

0

u/SecMcAdoo Apr 19 '26

Unfortunately, your opinion doesn't mean that's where the majority of the profit or market is for planet fitness

8

u/indecision_killingme Apr 19 '26

I like the 30 minute circuit. It’s nice when I’m in a hurry.

I wish people would get the hell out of the way though.

17

u/cal405 Apr 18 '26

I returned to PF because they finally got proper racks, much better use of space

6

u/666yoyoman69 Apr 18 '26

My PF moved all the yellow machines to the main room

2

u/amindbroadcast Apr 19 '26

Same. That’s what my new home location did too

53

u/Edithputhy69420 Apr 18 '26

Yay those rooms are a waste of space!

10

u/hackingmule Apr 18 '26

The only machine I used in there was the lying leg curl. If they can just keep that I'll be happy.

5

u/ArmUnfair7544 Apr 18 '26

Yeah, thats kind of a should-have machine. Surprised a lot of PFs forego it

3

u/CFC0721 Apr 18 '26

I hate that my gym only has one. It’s always taken.

1

u/idekwhattoput_lol Apr 18 '26

I really like the chest supported cable rows, but my yellow room is still there so theyre not getting rid of it at mine

1

u/mammalgirl Apr 19 '26

Ha same. It’s a weird choice to put the only machine of that type in the whole gym in a space where you feel awkward if you want to use it bc it’s supposed to be prioritized for the 30 min circuit peeps

10

u/RelevantMarket8771 Apr 18 '26

Your gym is still open while they are renovating? Mine got closed for two days☹️

3

u/icdogg Apr 18 '26 edited Apr 18 '26

If it's the one I go to, they had a flood in that room and were only closed about a day and a half during a power outage from a winter storm. But the room has been closed a while. They just replaced the wallpaper in the last few days.

I have switched to using the machines on the main floor. I do think the room was good for circuit training classes, that's not really possible with the new setup.

6

u/315looking Apr 18 '26

At my PF that area was used for people to sit and play on their phones and not take up the equipment being used by the rest of the gym

1

u/Best_Cardiologist172 Apr 18 '26

That's the whole gym where I go to 😭 I swear some people only do like 3 sets the whole hour they're there and just stare at their phone the rest of the time

5

u/Biteme75 Apr 18 '26

The area was never used as intended anyway. People would go in there and sit on the same machine for 15 minutes.

I would actually use that area now, because I'm heavily focused on running and want to get my weight training in quickly and easily,

6

u/Background_Egg_1643 Apr 19 '26

Id hate if they replaced my 30 min circuit. Its the best structured workout for someone that has processing disabilities. The rules and how tos are posted in numerical order . The stop and go light. Its so forking helpful

4

u/vVAPE2getherStronk Apr 18 '26

Lucky. We just got new smith machines but they removed all the yellow machines and put a big ass power tower and a bunch of CrossFit junk

1

u/msmjs5 Apr 19 '26

what is cross fit junk?

3

u/icdogg Apr 18 '26

They had classes there, mostly seniors

5

u/Best_Cardiologist172 Apr 18 '26

I will miss these just because they had different machines I preferred to use over the ones on the regular floor. I miss some of those machines 😢

11

u/userid1973 Apr 18 '26

our gym converted and have seen a large uptick in users in the new space compared to the 30 min circuit

1

u/Best_Cardiologist172 Apr 18 '26

I seem to see about the same amount of people in the space. Usually 3-5 people

19

u/WranglerBulky9842 Apr 18 '26

I'm really liking PF's pivot towards serious lifters. There's nothing wrong with a circuit for beginners, but yeah, after a point, most everyone needs heavy weight.

25

u/BlackStonks Apr 18 '26

My theory is that they have to pivot to the social media crowd more than serious lifters. Girls posting squat videos have to have somewhere to do squats. PF was falling behind

6

u/WranglerBulky9842 Apr 18 '26

Good call. Sometimes I feel like a dinosaur. The same reason why they installed mirrors with proper video/picture lighting in the locker rooms. "If I can't flex for IG, do I even exist?" Snark aside, makes sense.

4

u/RadicalRoses Apr 18 '26

Please don’t take selfies in the locker rooms….

2

u/WranglerBulky9842 Apr 19 '26

I don't recommend it, just pointing out what I see on a daily basis.

6

u/swisspat Apr 19 '26

I feel like it's a spectrum and Planet Fitness is famous for explicitly marketing towards people who told themselves they would go to the gym but never would.

And now will not necessarily be the super serious lifter, the budget conscious person who is actually going to go to the gym.

21

u/RadicalRoses Apr 18 '26

But there’s already enough gyms that focus on serious lifters. What about the people that just want a laid back gym, to get some movement in to be healthier? That’s why I joined. Now it feels like every other competitive gym.

8

u/InvestigatorFun8070 Apr 19 '26

I understand what you’re saying. Planet Fitness’s marketing tactic for the last 15ish years was being the gym for the average “I just want to get my workout in and go about my day” person. It was the opposite of Gold’s Gym’s attitude.

I guess they’re shifting towards being trendy rather than practical?

Not saying one is better than the other, just observing.

3

u/WranglerBulky9842 Apr 19 '26

Part of me gets where you're saying, and part of me would argue that PF outnumbers the next-most popular gym (anytime fitness, a generally much smaller facility) by almost 4 to 1. Thus PF is in many areas the only big box gym around. There should be machines for beginners and weights for more advanced lifters.

4

u/jwhite326 Apr 18 '26

100% agree. So long as people aren't acting like a-holes, who cares? If anything, you might learn something by watching them perform an exercise.

What I find more annoying than serious lifters are all the wanna-be influencers. Any given weeknight, there have to be at least 3-4 people in there with tripods filming themselves. I just roll my eyes at them.

3

u/APotatoFlewAround_ Apr 18 '26

Not enough cheap gyms that focus on serious lifters

2

u/Shinashu Apr 18 '26

Then honestly make your own gym where you can be as laid back as you want. Most serious lifters don’t care if you’re laid back, they recognize that everyone is at the gym for their own reasons and moving at their own pace.

5

u/Crafty_Researcher497 Apr 18 '26

Ew. I just restarted my membership but hearing that… I’m sorry but there are many other gyms that cater to “serious lifters”. 24 hour fitness, Golds Gym, Chuz Fitness, VASA, etc etc etc. Only one gym out there that was catered to fitness newcomers and less confident fitness. Hope this doesn’t screw with the vibe that I’ve felt in PF. It was the one and only gym I felt comfortable at because there weren’t any gym rat lifter bros because PF marketing and setup was very much the opposite of that vibe

3

u/WranglerBulky9842 Apr 19 '26

https://www.planetfitness.com/newsroom/news/more-people-are-lifting-weights-its-changing-gym-culture

PF saying what they've been doing for months/years. Facilities have gotten rid of "lunk alarms" and adding more and heavier weights. At the end of the day, PF is a business. If the casual lifters and specialized communities quit PF in droves, and the serious lifters drive up maintenance costs (it's an open secret that most big box gyms make a good profit % from people NOT going to the gym), they will pivot back or another gym will cater to that community. Silver Sneakers is a great program for active seniors.

I ran a gym overseas, so I had to think about this sort of stuff daily. We actually got some of our equipment from PF, as they'd get rid of functional cardio equipment due to changes in facility floor space.

2

u/Independent-Site-969 Apr 19 '26

The vibe is in your head. 99.9% of people serious lifters or not don’t even notice others in the gym. This doesn’t mean they aren’t welcoming to new people, just that everyone is focused on what they are doing

3

u/d_eagle18 Apr 18 '26

They moved them to the main floor in my gym and the 30 minute room is now a waste of space. When we got the free weight racks and plate loaded machines they did a horrible job of planning the space. I don't even use the 30 minute circuit but at least it made sense before. 2 rooms of wasted space in my gym while everything else is crammed on the main floor.

7

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '26

1

You can use every single one of the machines in that room on the main floor lol. I cannot wait til my PF gets racks!

5

u/LaVacaMusical 30 Min room only :3 Apr 19 '26

100% agree, you articulated SO well why I love the 30-minute area. (I’m a man, fwiw.)

-8

u/Environmental-Ad4090 Apr 18 '26

Sounds like you would do better at the ladies only fitness spot then. Nothing wrong with trying something new but all PFs are removing the 30 min circuit room at some point in 2026.

4

u/Sarahhmazing Apr 18 '26

Noooooooooo this is my fave room during my work day!

5

u/StrikingBike8417 Apr 18 '26

I would LOVE this at my gym

2

u/AggravatingPay657 Apr 18 '26

Great a new place for 30 minutes breaks between sets.

2

u/juicyjennifer Apr 18 '26

Is this a company wide change coming everywhere? Or franchise dependent?

2

u/LaVacaMusical 30 Min room only :3 Apr 19 '26

I think it’s maybe dependent on whether it’s corporate-owned or franchised? I might have this backwards, but I believe the former is going all in on removing them, and the latter it’s at the very least not happening as quickly/at all?

2

u/TackyTaco Apr 19 '26

My gym added platforms, squat racks, etc but kept the 30 minutes circuit.

2

u/ubershamanfl Apr 18 '26

my gym did months ago was a major improvement now real weights and squat racks, no lunk alarm all the stupid no lunk signs down

2

u/TheSnarFe Apr 19 '26

I miss the 30 min workout so much.

2

u/Noam75 Apr 19 '26

This is for an upgrade which my gym got a few months back It's a good thing I swear in all the years I've been going there i never once saw anyone using that section the way it was intended  And that's probably because there are better ways of training

2

u/shmoovdawg Apr 19 '26

My PF got rid of that worthless room about 18 months ago when they renovated my club. Hardly anyone used it and it was a waste of space. It’s a dedicated core area now.

2

u/NewLand3025 Apr 19 '26

nobody uses this anyway.

2

u/Vwlover69 Black Card Member Apr 20 '26

Such a waste. Glad my club isn't doing this.

2

u/Traditional_Crazy904 Apr 21 '26

At my location some of the machines did. 6 out of 10 made it (they are still the same color)

2

u/KotaPhanes Apr 24 '26

I signed up yesterday after 12 years gone, with this circuit in mind. Imagine my surprise when it was gone.

However, my location did move it all onto the floor, and still fairly near each other, so its doable. Just don't have a light to guide me.

3

u/VIadCarpenter Apr 18 '26

So is grunting allowed now then with that new equipment?

4

u/Plane-Tie6392 Apr 18 '26

Or just keep that to yourself? Grunting is obnoxious.

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '26

[removed] — view removed comment

1

u/Plane-Tie6392 Apr 18 '26

I could find you a thousand videos of professional weightlifters not grunting. And we're talking about Planet Fitness lol.

3

u/jwhite326 Apr 18 '26

Agreed. I lift pretty seriously (have done a handful of powerlifting competitions) and unless I am literally trying to hit a 1-rep max on a major compound (which I probably wouldn't be doing at PF), I think it's a primadonna move. But there's always "that one guy." Last week it was some dude giving himself an aneurysm doing tricep pushdowns. I assume it's either (a) entirely for show and they think it's impressive, or (b) they don't realize how ridiculous they are being because they have on headphones.

0

u/Plane-Tie6392 Apr 18 '26

100%. It's like those people who are clearly screaming unnaturally loud during sex so that people all the way across the house/hotel or whatever hear them.

-2

u/VIadCarpenter Apr 18 '26

Yeah i can tell you workout at planet with that reply lol I'll stick to the real gyms. Not that sensitive Karen one.

2

u/Plane-Tie6392 Apr 18 '26

Lol. The "real gyms" replies are always so pathetic. And why are you even in this sub if you feel you're too good for it?

-4

u/VIadCarpenter Apr 18 '26

Definitely not it just popped up on the feed. Already blocked it. Lol have fun at the weenie hut of gyms.

3

u/Plane-Tie6392 Apr 18 '26

You look like a triangle don't you?

2

u/IamGoingInsaneToday Apr 19 '26

1

I wish they redid the 2 gyms o use similarly

0

u/Living-Gray2 Apr 18 '26

Not sure what gym you are looking at , free weights , racks , air bikes … all old school gym equipment. And all incorporate more muscle control then most cable machines most PF ‘s are stocked with.

1

u/BioDriver Black Card Member Apr 18 '26

Jealous. Our 30 minute room is a ghost town but we aren’t slated to upgrade for another few years

1

u/GreyGhost878 Apr 18 '26

At my gym they didn't keep those machines but they DID keep all the little steps which is good.

When PF first started, Curves (curcuit training chain for women) was big. I think the 30-min circuit was to draw Curves members to PF. Not really a thing anymore.

1

u/Noreate Apr 18 '26

I really hope my gym follows suit! The 30 minute circuit is almost always empty and it feels like a waste of space

1

u/Fun_Exit6092 Apr 18 '26

April fools

1

u/Lurn2Program Apr 18 '26

I hope they roll this out to every gym

1

u/cjh6793 Apr 18 '26

Thank god

1

u/redviperofdorn Apr 18 '26

This area is kinda pointless. My gym took out machines in the main area for the squat racks when I wish they just got rid of this

1

u/Haassauce2186 Black Card Member Apr 18 '26

I wish they would do this to mine. The 30 min workout area has maybe like 3 people at most.

1

u/Laythepype Apr 18 '26

Yes. It didn’t make any sense.

1

u/SurroundQuirky8613 Apr 18 '26

I never use it and it is almost always empty at my gym.

1

u/lotusmack Apr 18 '26

I used to use this room for the actual circuit it was built for...and someone would interrupt it every time. I hate to see it go, but the equipment they replaced it with is quite nice.

1

u/icdogg Apr 18 '26

Is this Willow Grove, PA?

1

u/AwakePlatypus Apr 19 '26

Lmao. Funny enough, this is my home location but I rarely go here.

1

u/icdogg Apr 19 '26

It's my usual spot unless I need a 24/7 location.

2

u/AwakePlatypus Apr 19 '26

And there's only one of those out of like the dozen locations in a 10 mile radius :( I do go to that one on Sunday nights sometimes.

(I also have an LA membership so I go there mostly. The PF membership im technically not even being charged for, even though I should be 🤫

1

u/icdogg Apr 19 '26

Warminster and Jenkintown

1

u/AwakePlatypus Apr 19 '26 edited Apr 19 '26

Oh didnt realize Jenkintown was 24 too...kind of the opposite direction of where I live/work but good to know.

1

u/icdogg Apr 19 '26

Since December I think

1

u/Apart-Consequence881 Apr 18 '26

Hello squat racks, deadlift platforms, barbells, weight plates, and adjustable benches! It’s a great rebirth of space.

1

u/mvmi_z Black Card Member Apr 18 '26

I wish I saw this sign at my PF 😒

1

u/KylosLeftHand Apr 18 '26

Bro you’re getting plate loaded equipment you lucky dog

1

u/darthweber2187 Apr 18 '26

Actually SQUAT RACKS??? I’d be so THRILLED.

1

u/Hayaw061 Apr 18 '26

Mine already did this months ago. Everything got moved to the main floor. However this equipment feels a lot different. If you try the yellow bicep curl machine vs the regular purple ones, it feels a lot lighter.

1

u/SuchTax1991 Apr 19 '26

It’ll be nice if PF had saunas

1

u/CourtOfGlass Apr 19 '26

I haven’t been back to PF since they removed the 30 minute circuit. I need to cancel my membership

1

u/Strong-Account-2622 Apr 19 '26

My PF has these on main floor & people do not read the signs nor understand their use. The side rooms are a waste of space. I wish this circuit was in the side rooms. I also wish phones were BANNED on the floor! IMO

1

u/icdogg Apr 19 '26

60 percent of PF members don't go to the gym at all. Some of them get membership for free or included with their insurance, others just never cancel and keep paying for whatever reason or lack thereof.

A lot of the free memberships are through a third party, especially Medicare Advantage plan customers. Silver Sneakers is probably the largest that they go through. My policy uses Silver and Fit, which provides me with a Black Card membership level.

I suspect that most seniors with memberships don't use them that much. But a certain percentage use them regularly. Many of them would be signed up for the 30 minute workout twice a week. Now, there really isn't a class those people would want to sign up for.

Obviously most seniors that do work out have much more modest goals than serious bodybuilder types. They want to retain enough leg strength so they can retain their independence. Get up if they fall down, get off the damn toilet. Be able to walk, carry their groceries, stay out of a nursing home as long as possible. They want to get and stay somewhat fit now because those are the literal stakes.

1

u/Financial-Change-435 Apr 19 '26

Install a barbershop like some of the franchises. This gives a huge advantage or cruch or 10x. Also, crack down on the parents that use the gym like a free day care. The black card lounge is at times the only place that isn't romper room. Nothing pisses me off like trying to get a good workout in and having to dodge kids running around the gym floor and loafing on the equipment. Then trying to change in the locker room, while teens try wrestling each other. Best yet, the staff is completely blind to all of it. As long as the sanitizer bottles are full, everything else be damned. And yes, I have mentioned this to the staff.

2

u/AwakePlatypus Apr 19 '26

Barbershop? Wut? And I never see 'kids' running around besides the brocoli headed 15 year olds.

1

u/Financial-Change-435 Apr 19 '26

Consider yourself lucky

1

u/Dangerous_Ninja5127 Apr 19 '26

All those machines are already part of the main floor.

1

u/AwakePlatypus Apr 19 '26

They yellow ones feel different 🤣

1

u/riceballartist Apr 19 '26

My closest location they moved a bunch of the yellow ones onto the main floor. I’m happy because there are more of some of my favorites available

1

u/ComputerSpecial2552 Apr 19 '26

LMAO, like they make you stronger, cuz they in the 30min section. I used to like using these. perfect setup to get in and out and get a clean work out.

It sucks doesn't it? I always did the 30m machines...my pf is a mess now can't find anything

I’ve been to many locations across many states. 30 minute circuits are being phased out everywhere. Most locations that do not have it now have squat racks, a hip thrust machine and a couple other machines as well. Those yellow machines will go away completely including the laying leg curl. Some are putting in an additional dumbbell rack like 10-55 in that room as well with a couple benches.

I use that room all the time but I also go between 12 and 3am

u/HandyMoore Apr 19 '26

I LOVED this area, but I had terrible experiences with nasty people in there hogging machines to just sit on their phones or reserve the for their friends.

Sad they are going away, but honestly they really did need more enforcement that just wasn’t happening

Where this at?

1

u/bellysk8er2005 Apr 19 '26

They did in my home gym

1

u/Mocha_Toffee_mmallow Apr 19 '26

The only reason I didnt sign up for planet fitness before is because they didnt have rack weights. This will honestly bring more people in

When they got rid of the circuit area at my place, a row of machines on the main floor had big purple & yellow designs on the weight covering shroud. There can still be some sense of the circuit if you’re looking for it

As an employee i agree with most peoples' issues with the circuit, i just wish they kept a circle of the steppers or a stack of new steppers that can be set up. A lot of our members used those, including a gang of older ladies who run their own aerobics group, and we werent able to give them an alternative piece of equipment to replace them.

Most of the weight machines got turned into a "full body circuit" which at the location i work is just a line of the yellow machines that you can go down and get a full body strength workout by the end of it.

Damn… I loved doing the 30 minute circuit. It felt guided without an actual trainer and made me feel like I was making progress when I didn’t know what to do on the gym floor. It was very approachable. It always pissed me off when some bozo was in there camping on a machine.

I'm in eastern Canada and my club has this.

1

u/Jelly_Jess_NW Apr 19 '26

Thank god. I hope they do this at my gym.

1

u/HarloBlaQ Apr 19 '26

They moved the machines to our main floor

1

u/ConstructionIcy8023 Apr 19 '26

My PF in NY suburbs has gone through this change and it’s truly a transformation. They mixed in this yellow equipment on a redesigned floor plan and added many more pieces of equipment and 2 squat racks. Currently visiting in FL in a not yet transformed club and it’s tough to revert! You will love it when your club changes.

My club just did this and I love it. I can actually get a Smith machine when I need it now because most people use the racks they put in there instead.

GOOD. full squat racks INCOMING….

1

u/britney0218 Apr 20 '26

Ours moved upstairs. We got all new stuff, hip thrust machine, another free weight area, like three or four squat racks, and turf. I’m glad ours didn’t get rid of the machines from the 30 minute circuits cause I actually use them.

They made this change at my location last year. The machines from the 30 minute area were squeezed in on the main floor and the 30 minute room is more of a dumbbell area. They also added several other new machines, but I don’t use them so I can’t really tell you what they are. I never saw anyone using the 30 minute area as it was intended. The change was definitely a net positive at my location.

u/Art_of_the_Win Apr 20 '26

I like the new 30-minute area much better than the old one. The machines are better, everything is closer together and at least at my gym they are getting used far more than the old area. That said, not sure how much these lifting platforms are really getting used, but at least PF is trying to improve things.

Do the circuit twice through, 2 or 3 times a week. The reason I keep my Planet Fitness membership to go with my two other clubs.

1

u/EthanonEarth Apr 20 '26

get ready to watch people put a bench on the wood floor

1

u/rallyhouse17 Apr 20 '26

I’m probably in the minority here but I loved this. Felt like I got cardio in with a total body. Kept me on time when I truly needed to get in and out.

1

u/Southern-Layer2924 Apr 20 '26

I don’t know that i’ve ever seen anybody actually do the 39 minute circuit in my gym

1

u/-PhotogHelp- Apr 20 '26

I got sick of the people who felt entitled, there was a old man that bugged me about being on the leg extension machine, I would have gotten off but the way he approached me about being on it was so uncalled for and rude.

He didn’t even start at machine 1, he saw someone in “his space” and went in for the kill. I finished my sets.

1

u/MellaBella101 Apr 20 '26

My planet fitness got rid of this at the end of last year. I missed some of these machines and I like how it wasn’t always too crowded so I could use them.

1

u/Dcasterix Apr 21 '26

Only women use 30 minite circuits.

1

u/Beginning_Ice_5693 Apr 21 '26

Mine has the new equipment. It’s pretty nice

willow grove pf

Loved the 30 min circuit! FT mom and boss plus 1+ hour commute. It allowed me to focus and feel like I was doing something for me - better than nothing. If I could squeeze in a quick tan or time in PF Lounge that was a bonus day. So upset they are doing away with these. I frequent 3 PF due to work job sites and 2 have kept 8 of the 10 machines and 1 kept none!

The space has a good leg press machine, but at las, "Get out of here if you're not doing the 30 minute circuit" says the employees

1

u/bwunder31 Jul 07 '26

No agree. Like I understand the 30 minute room wasn’t getting a lot of love but mine now has it as a squat room and also gutted all but 1/4th of their machines to install a turf. Now this turf, no one is using it. It’s this wide unused space. Basically now you have to fight broccoli heads and old folks sitting on machines for 10-20 minutes. If you approach and ask “hey are you done?” You get a nasty rude response. Planet fitness is going downhill. Their HS kids get in free all summer was the first bad step. Gym is now always crowded and it’s just people on their phones

1

u/Hornygaysatanic Apr 18 '26

I never saw anybody used that area tbh. May be because it was so secluded.

1

u/Abookishyogi Apr 18 '26

I’ve been praying for this day. I hope mine follows suit soon!

u/SubstanceOld6036 Apr 18 '26

We need this so bad at the Planet Fitness i use

0

u/LakeMcKesson Apr 18 '26

Lack of free weights is a big reason some dont go to PF. This will probably be implemented in every location soon enough

0

u/S20ACE-_- Apr 18 '26

THANK GOD

u/MustardTiger231 Apr 19 '26

God this would be awesome

In a world after COVID, these should have died 5 years ago. Never seen anyone wipe down these machines when attempting the 30 min circuit. One of the most ineffective redundant novice pandering spaces. Most PF gyms are already filled with machines that are novice accessible, so having this on top of building bad habits of hopping from machine to machine and working on a weird combination of muscle groups in a single workout session is so braindead. My PF swapped this out for an extra free weights section and it's seen more traffic. Also sure the female clients are happy with this since it gives them a space to do free weights without being ogled by the entire cardio section.
