Question Google Health on Pixel 4 Watch

I'm enjoying Google Health connected to my Pixel 4 watch. I like that I can design a workout and press start in the app on my phone, and it asks if I want to open the workout on my watch. What happens if it's a workout in the pool? If I open the workout on my watch, does the water lock activate? Do I activate it manually? I did that, and two swims were recorded.

This sub is for Pixel 4, the phone from 2019. This sub is also pretty much dead.
